Questions are flying around the Southern state as a result of a lack of voting machine at fifty-two polling places for todays election. There is much controversy because of the numerous important issues on the ballot, including a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.

Louisiana attorney general to investigate New Orleans voting problems
Elections machines were not in place at 52 voting places in New Orleans when polls opened Saturday for a vote on a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and numerous important local races.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Although the voting machines were delivered and set up by noon, many citizens were enraged and frustrated because they were unable to vote when the polls opened at 6:00 a.m.. Polls remained open until those in line at 8:00 p.m. could cast their ballots in an attempt to accommodate voters who were unable to participate that morning. Delivery service problems associated with the recent hurricane were blamed for the mishap, but rumors of dirty tricks and voter suppression are sure to spread.

The Louisiana Attorney General has vowed to investigate the matter. "We will review what happened and take whatever steps are necessary to make sure it doesn't happen again," Foti said.

Voting machines have been fixed in Louisiana before. There was instance on the North Shore in the mid-seventies. This particular instance does not really sound like anything more than it was, a logistical foul up related to the storm. I experienced many glancing blows by hurricanes in my 22 years there. Even when the damage pales in comparison to other locations, it is always considerable.

But back to voting fraud and the long history of dirty politics in Louisiana.

There's an old joke that goes something like this:

Q: Why do they bury the dead above ground in New Orleans?

A: It's easier to get them to the polls.

Back home where I am from every election that is the joke of the day. Lot's of death voters shows to vote but nobody take care of removing them from the lists. And they keep coming every election.
