Stalin said that before nuclear weapons. Any gigantic dense mass of troops is an easy target for WMD and the real reason to use them.

However, the size of the Chinese Army in relation to all other armies gives it some interesting opportunities to specialize it's units. China could have a whole army (300,000 men) of snipers for instance. Or could make equiptment for people with specific talents, that most people couldn't pick up and use effectively, because China could select that one in a thousand talent and have enough people to make a unit of them. Like an army the can live off the land in enemy territory or make a landing base for air supply in between satelite overfights.

In the future they will add their own cultural insight and talent into the methods of war.

Back in the 1950's it was said that if the outer space aliens attack the government will tell us that it's the Chinese, if the Chinese attack the government will tell us its the outer space aliens.

I think everyone is overlooking a major factor in that the chinese are EVERYWHERE . This isn't a group that goes to a country to integrate with the native population, they set up their very own homeland in said country. And they have a large numbers of undocumented within their communities that we don't know about which makes for the perfect army should SHTF.

Remember it's chess, not checkers.

I feel that the majority of people replying to this thread have superiority complex over their military might over China.

What you have to remember is, China can put on a good show of its armed forces just as any nation can but Nazi Germany did the same tricks back in 1938, they had tanks go around the block so it looked like they had hundreds of tanks more than they actually did have.
But the big question is, sure china can roll thousands of tanks and armoured vehicles where it wants as well as deploying naval and air assists …… BUT can China substation them can china deploy an upto date supply and communications line to its front line forces? And can Chine protect that system?
Yeh having more that 500 million men at your desposal can only be good.........remember you then have to feed, supply with ammunition and look after that force.

I think many of those that have replied to this post do not know much about the Chinese, and the comments show fear of the unknown.

The picture of this guy giving the peace sign really depicts the true nature of the Chinese. For all those that think these people are frail and weak? Think again! I practice Chi-Gung yoga and Wing Chun; as do many of these soldiers. And for me, the practice of Chi-Gung has been the most profound, powerful human capability I have witnessed in my entire life! Chi-Gung for the human, is like throwing a turbo charged V12 in your 1980 ford pinto. It doesnt make you stonger or more capable having bloated blown up muscles! And not to leave out the fact that many Chinese follow the Tao, and strive for a life of peace and harmony! There is a great book by Daniel Reid, "A complete guide to Chi-Gung, harnessing the power of the universe. Check it out! Peace and Love my friends...

Keep in mind folks - every time you buy a Chinese product in Walmart or at your local supermarket you are helping to finance the very killing machine that China is building to subjugate the world with. How ironic that we are actually financing the world's largest dictatorship and it's military machine. Think about this the next time you go shopping.

Very true. Chinese immigrants are inundating our cities all over the Western world. Literally millions of them in places like Canada, the US, and Europe. What do we really know about these people? How many of them are actually working for the Chinese Communist Gov.? Not too long ago, trying to leave China was almost an impossible feat - now the Chinese Gov. let's them leave by the millions... This is commonly known as a 'Fifth Column'...

No one doubts China's numerical might. But wars of the future aren't fought with foot soldiers--they're fought with computers. If numbers and robotic exercises were all, North Korea could preach.

It's China's 'Blue Army', and the like, that people should be concerned about. The grunts will only come into play after the defences and infrastructure has been disabled; when the 'genocide' begins.

Do you really think China is what the USA made it? They have only just recently opened up to the West so how on earth did you make them. They have been making electronics for years through Taiwan. Remember when everything was made in Taiwan? I do.. Now everthing is made in China.
History shows that China is not aggressive towards other countries. They don't need an offensive army although no doubt they could be offensive.
They have 3rd Generation Planes and sunburn cruise missiles so they can retailiate against anything the West has and they are building their own 4th gen planes. Russia has good planes so therefore so does China.

I don't think China should be feared, just given the respect they deserve..

So I'm debating right now what I would do if west coast got invaded... The whole argument that the US homeland is somehow invicible because a lot of Americans own guns is a joke to me. Do you think this is only exclusive to the US? Every single country in the world has regular people who own guns. Some city slicker yankee with a hunting rifle doesn't stand much of a chance against infantry- maybe if they somehow form a resistance.

Think about what happens if the US is invaded and regular citizens go out on their own to shoot at the invaders. Your citizens get shot. It creates a situation where the citizens prove themself too hostile and thus they are hunted down and slaughtered. Your best bet is to form militias in heavily rural areas where the terrain is advantages to your side, but then again, at any point in the US you can walk five miles to a road.

But why train all those soldiers to be exactly in line and strictly in order?
You can't fight like that, or line up like that in war, so...?

It's a propaganda machine, as you can see the huge microphone to record the footsteps.

To me, it just shows how they can be trained just like show dogs.
