I work buying and selling non ferrous and ferrous metal. It is heavily reliant upon the global market.

Ask Alcoa about the current issues with international markets. They have appointed administrators because of the issues with aluminium and the international index.

I see math and researching facts are not your strong suit. Smear campaign? LOL! Wow ignorance truly is bliss... Here's an object lesson for ya, max out your credit cards and never pay the bill. in fact take out loans to pay just the interest and ask for you credit line to continually be raised and see how far that gets you. Now multiply that by 170 trillion or more and you might begin to understand...

America is THE number one global currency. And recession? What recession??? America had to dip into some of their reserve, no big issue there.

It is like me...spending some of my reserve...my financial situation hasn't changed...just spent some of my savings/nest egg. I am still saving money. Get it?

What a relief. I can relax now. I thought we were in trouble.
And this doesn't sound at all like the beginning of someones meltdown.

This thread is hilarious, had a few laughs reading this.
I've still not decided whether the OP is serious or pulling our leg.

the media are making it far worse than it is.

it is almost like the media want people to think they are weak and broke and that is not the case. I suggest you look at some real information that doesn't come up too readily on google.

The truth is USA is the strongest economy in the World so have a bit more faith in that.

People are so quick to believe negatives.. what the hell is wrong?

world bank

Federal Reserve in the International Sphere

Richest countries in the world by gdp

more

1. The Fed is private. That should raise enough eyebrows on its own and...
2. When countries realise that the US are waging war on them because of oil...it'll be harder for the US to survive. The dollar is only strong because of oil and with the prospect of the Dollar not being the back up currency, all you'll have is McDonalds and Hollywood.

The US is powerful in a military sense, but the way they look after their own is poor, they are in the same boat as the UK. They'd rather go about killing others than getting their country out of poverty,

These countries listed below have a lesser percentage of people below the poverty line than the US

1. Syria
2. Azerbajian
3. Vietnam
4. Netherlands
5. Thailand
6. Canada
7. The Bahamas
8. Greenland
9. Serbia
10. Kazakhstan
11. Andorra
12. Mauritius
13. Tunisia
14. Libya
15. Switzerland
16. France
17. Austria
18. Ireland
19. Malaysia
20. Lithuania
21. China
22. Taiwan

The current US stats are that 12% of your population live below the poverty line (as of 2004) so its probably a lot more now but that equates to roughly 36,000,000 Americans living in poverty compared to only 12,000,000 Chinese.

For being the most powerful, richest, best, amazing, free country in the world, the US sucks at the basics.

Me being British, don't fair very well either with 14% of our population living below the poverty line equating to roughly 8,400,000 Brits.

With the rising cost of living, these figures will only get worse. The US was at 12% of population in 2004, i wonder what its at now 8 years later???

Come on...

Tell us how you invested it?

If it's via spending at a Walmart - stimulating the economy by driving aggregate demand....

Or investing directly in an American business....

Or buying American bonds...

Or giving to a person less well off so they can buy things

Or buying a fund of shares...

Or opening a savings account....

How have you done it?

Interested in how you've taken a stake in the future of the economy

Not planning a p***take - genuinely interested.

Wow, it was really hard to find your thread
when I logged in. Hmm. Anyway..
I think it needs to be read, so I'll do my part.
What a bunch of Jack-Asses we have here sometimes.
Good for you and the US that you are investing .

You know who doesn't want to invest ?
The US Chamber of Commerce.
They took in a TON of money from Citizens United.
Who got their money from Russia, China and India .
This money was to fund politicians running for office
in 2010. Specifically Tea Party and GOP candidates.
Why? So that American Jobs would be continued to be
outsourced and grow in Russian
Chinese and Indian factories.

Real American Patriotism there.
Maybe that had something to do with slow job growth?
"They" would rather have the entire the US economy fail
than help the country under Obama.
That's the dirty little secret to the whole shebang .

And in lockstep here on ATS, you find the same thing.
Because most get their news from the very shills
(Fox, Rush, Alex and Savage) that are paid for by the likes of
Oil billionaires, The Chamber, Tea Party and current GOP donors .
As I said before, way to be patriotic. Apparently a lot of "Wingers"
(yeah you can call them that, they know exactly what it means)
will throw America under the bus, just because Obama is president.
I for one am disgusted.

Thurisaz I don't know if our politics are alike?
But I will say I agree entirely with everything you have posted .
I gave you every Star I could. This is a tough crowd.
Made tougher by the fact that they think your thread, and my beliefs,
are because we've been duped by the USA and Obama.

I wish they could realize that maybe,
just maybe it is they, whom been hoodwinked .
And that it's possible that Limbaugh & Beck
may not have their best interests at heart .

So, I wonder whose interests Fox and Friends do have?
It's so easy for me . It's big oil. And people that make
money from all that comes of it. When you vote
conservative (@the moment) your vote is in political
alignment with big oil.
You can watch the gas prices go up
just after Obama's approval ratings rise.

Hmm... maybe we need a thread on that.

Thanks Sealing

I am not surprised at some of the responses, it just illustrates what I am saying.

too many shills have infiltrated the internet... they can't win by playing hard ball so they add snippets of anti-American dribble.

Ask any investor and they will all tell you America is the strongest economy and the strongest global currency.
The thing that makes me puke is the contributors that add their comment and run off, spit out their agenda and never come back. They don't even read the facts..

love it too that the thread has been moved to rant when it is discussing the so called global meltdown.

hmmm

If an economy is unstable and people invest in that knowing that they make not see any dividends for some time... but invest in it anyway... that helps the economy.

part of the share market is that you can have a share worth 30.00 dollars each but what if no-one will buy it? Your share drops and even though it seems like it is worth a lot... it may not be. Same with when a company listed on the stock exchange starts to have problems... if people rush off to sell, then it comes crashing down...but if people refuse to sell and ride through the rough patch, it regains strength.

If I am willing to invest and buy USD, that strengthens the US economy so it is good for all of the Country.
If nobody bought USD then that would be a very bad indication of things to come.

So what is your investment?

Are you physically buying currency? Are you buying USD with USD?

What is it you have actually done?

Have you bought $x worth of bonds?

What have you done?

Apols, but you didnt really answer my question.
