I think when I saw this picture before, it was said to be a badly decomposed body of a giant squid. Who could tell? Glad I wasn't there, though. That thing had to stink!!!!!

I remember this. I believe it turned out be to an enormous chunk of whale blubber.

Could be whale blubber. I was watching a programme on great white sharks the other day and these scientists where lucky as a whale had washed up on shore and the local authorities had cut it up and dragged a big lump of it out to the scientists so they could study the great whites in a group feast. Whatever that thing is, it looks a lot like the whale blubber the scientists fed the sharks.

Odd

Big chunks of flesh don't necessarily come from invertebrate creatures... a large carcass can get torn apart pretty badly by the elements and by scavengers before finally being beached.

A similar picture, taken a long time ago in Chile, still makes the rounds every now and then.

Weather balloon, floated over from the UFO forum, and crashed in the Ocean.

Whale snot. Oh, can I say snot or will the FCC fine me? Oh well.

No they're right, I recall this picture from somewhere, they DNA tested it and it was blubber from a decomposed whale.

What did they do to it afterwards? It would make an awesome steak.

That has to be photoshopped, or do they really grow that big.

The largest species of jellyfish is the Lions Mane jellyfish. It grows up to 8feet in diameter an tentacles that can be over 100feet long.

But they don't get as big as the one in that photo, its fake

Either way, i am sure, as it was posted earlier...The stink would be horrendous...

However, I seem to recall a pic of a before mentioned Lion's mane jelly fish that I will try to locate and post for you so you can get a better idea...

I suppose you could think it was a jelly fish or a giant squid that was decomposed.
Is it really whale blubber?

Looks like that old old horror film where that thing came from out the water

Yeah, it looks like it could be the remains of a decomposing whale or as others say blubber. I couldn't say with any certainty though but it's the most likely answer.

I believe its the skin of a sperm whale. I guess it comes off of the skeleton when they die. Here is a thread we covered on this a while ago: www.abovetopsecret.com...
