Logic:

If there are 100 coins and I have 95 of them...how can I expect anyone else to pay what I can afford when there aren't enough coins for them too?

If you have most of the money of course you pay more.

That anyone buys into this propaganda is pathetic.

Yeah, all those lazy school kids who have savings accounts aren't paying their fair share of taxes.

The top 1% should be paying all of the income tax. Income tax was only created for the wealthy, and not for the rest, because it is only the wealthy that get back anything from the fed gov.

Unless you own a factory in China, or any income you get from stocks you own from corporations manufacturing in China (profiting on slave labor and child labor like any of you got a moral leg to stand on) you shouldn't be paying income taxes.

The PTB have done a great job of dumbing down the masses.

We should just lock up rich people and take their money.

Life would be better if no one were rich.

Wow! That sounds like Cuba.

A long unending recession .

Lets see now.....who are the richest 1% in Cuba?

Yepper, as history has demonstrated over and over again. Nations where the wealth is more evenly spread do far better than nations where the wealth is concentrated.

You would make us into Mexico, or Saudi Arabia.

Its pathetic that people buy into this nonsense.

Never mind that people who are rich generally got that way because they ran a business that provided products to the masses that improved the quality of their lives

Again, what nonsense. Most people are rich because they were born into money. They went to the right schools and kissed the right people's behinds, ruthlessly stole from everyone they could, and when that wasn't enough, they went to third world countries and engaged in slavery.

Can you name 1 thing, that contributed to society, invented by a billionaire?

Rich people don't have to invent a product, they just have to provide the resources and organization to bring an invented product to market.

An inventor working in his garage could invent a new free energy source, but unless that inventor has the millions necessary to build a production facility, he's going to need rich people to build and run that facility for him.

Well we have to charge them lots of taxes to pay for all the people who commit suicide at their factories.

When was the last time a rich person jumped off of a building so they didnt have to work tomorrow. I guess thats just a perk over be the rapist and not the rapey.

So why are their workers killign themselves again.... could you explain to me the benifits of suicide for the kids at home?

Actually, it sounds like Germany, or the U.S. before morons bought into the whole free market scam.

If concentration of wealth was so good, then the third world would be the first world, and the first world would be the third world.

People who believe that rich people make our society succeed are either rich, minions of the rich, or fools.

Your logic is flawless.

Do you get paid to write this stuff? If not, you should definitely consider getting a job at the NY Times or Washington Post. They would love to have you.

Haha that actually makes sense.
If I can refer to a television show, 'Shark Tank', they give the inventor the money to start-up, and the deal is always something that sounds really terrible. But in the end, the investor is going to (at best) turn the inventor into a millionaire, and the investor is going to make 10 times that amount.

Yep. Data from the lobbying firm and conservative policy research entity known as "The Tax Foundation" is in close agreement with the data from illustrated from the lobbying firm and conservative policy research entity known as "The Heritage Group".

Must be true.

In other news...10 out 10 Kennedy's think we need more Kennedy's in politics.

Well, use your common sense.

If the numbers were fictitious don't you think MSNBC would run right out there

and expose the - hoax?-

Media Matters would be jumping up and down with glee if the numbers were wrong.

----------
OMG! The numbers are right.

All i had to do was think it through.

Ummmm...no. Of course not. Why would I think that a corporate run news empire would come out with a story that would result in persuading people that the numbers indicate it is wise to increase taxes on them by a 1000% or more?

"Common Sense" means being able to understand the difference between a percentage of income and the percentage of revenue and why it's important.

Yeah, that worked so well in the dark ages, when the rich ruled with absolute power.

Well, I guess those who prefer to be slaves were happy.

Yes, that inventor needs start up capital.

Entrepreneurs do very well in the USA.

However, the inventor of Facebook didn't need much start up capital.

Seriously, dude? Cuba?

Cuba is poor because the U.S. placed sanctions and a trade embargo upon them 50 yrs ago on 2-7-1962...and STILL HAVEN'T REMOVED THEM!!!!

The numbers are right.

The Top 10% pay 70.5% of the income taxes.

You just have a problem with that truth.

Asking for a level playing field is not the same as bringing a gun onto the field.

Ever wonder how a vegas casino makes millions off of a game like roulette? 38 numbers...Red or Black?...50-50 bet? Not really.

The casino makes it's money off of that lone green -00 spot. That is all they need to direct the flow of cash thier way. It might represent just a 1% advantage, but with a non-stop flow of money that is all they need to take the money from players and pile it up in a backroom.

The tax code advantages the wealthy, money influences legislation, and as long as money continues to circulate and the gov diverts just a small percentage back to the wealthiest in the form of a lower capital gains tax, loop holes etc....the rich will get richer and everybody else will get poorer...until there is no more money to play with....and when that happens the middle class will collapse...and then the wealthy will follow.

Sir, please. We all know that there are no guns involved in tax collection. Its entirely voluntary. Harry Reid said so.

But that aside, a level playing field would mean no one is taxed.

Exactly.

About ten years back there was a series of articles in the San Jose Mercury news, how inventors seeking investors would get completely screwed out of all the profit from their hard work. The lawyers they hired would instead work for the investors, write loop holes, and as soon as the money started rolling in, they would kick out the inventor.

That is how free market economics works, the rich and powerful are given free reign to steal from hard working individuals.

I found a chart sourced from the IRS that shows how the top 10% of income earners paid 71% of federal income tax. This is pretty interesting because it would mean that all those calls that the rich should pay more taxes or that they dont pay enough taxes are wrong. The 10%ers seem to be paying plenty of taxes.
I think some of the stats can be misunderstood.
It's possible that the 71% figure is based on who actually has to pay period, and not on a dollar amount.
Most people that have kids don't have to pay taxes, so technically they could be seen as not paying, and figured into that picture.
If it is based on a head count, that could explain how rich people don't get deductions or exemption status for claiming kids.
If its based on dollar amount, then it could be realistic seeing how most poor people claim child deductions.

Basically what it comes down to is the rich people have to foot the bill for our children.
