If your computer is running really slow and you hit post several times before it goes through the interwebs, it can cause a dupe post or even thread.

I had some fun with it here: The DUPLICATE POST thread

Hefficide won with 99 dupe posts.

Nwo, or people excitedly clicking submit

sometimes i'm an idiot,and type in my title and hit enter! i'm good at that!!!
so when i post,and you see double posts by me,one will be blank!
i always appologize when it happens though
i really do not know,too high tech for me!

i sure hope these 'excited' people aren't working at any missile silos!!!

It also happens when you post, then hit refresh without going off the page first.

I guess it may be because sometimes when you hit post, you send the data and dont recieve any back, then you get a error page ... and then you just post again or just do a refresh .......


never happened for me here on ATS,
There may also be different situations when double posts happen, this one is probably the most usual.

when you type in the headline end press enter instead of tabs, it's posted ?
wow, thats tricky, because it makes perfect sense to hit enter to finish the headline. the mistake, so close.

Sorry, that's not a real dupe post.

In the real thing, all the dupe posts would have the same time stamp. Check out my dupe post thread linked above. Even the ones with dozens of dupes have the exact same time stamp. That's how you tell if someone is cheating or not.
