Hacker group Anonymous threatens Vic Toews

www.ctv.ca

The hacker group Anonymous is demanding Public Safety Minister Vic Toews kill the Internet surveillance bill and resign or it will release "information" during what it calls "Operation White North."

Two videos posted to YouTube feature a masked man and voice-overs that condemn the proposed Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act (Bill C-30).

"All this legislation does is give your corrupted government more power to control its citizens," a synthesized voice says in one of the videos still posted to the site Monday.

Vic Toews was in the news last week because of his support of the ""Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act" which is considered to be a massive invasion of privacy by most Canadians. Our current government is in the middle of a massive campaign to erase Canadians of their freedoms on all fronts. He was also in the news directly after the uproar due to some of his divorce details being linked via Twitter.

It now appears that Anonymous claims to have even more dirt on this character, and are threatening to expose it if he does not scrap this new bill. He was back pedaling later last week, most likely due to the unhappy population. People are fighting back, and will not put up with this any longer.

It's ironic that someone who supports an internet law that tramples on our internet freedoms, is also target of internet vigilantism. I don't always support all of Anon's actions, but this is something I can support.

Wow, poor Vic. I bet he'll think twice before calling the internet folk " Child Pornographers" eh?

Good for him, he deserves it. A person like that, irrational, emotionally charged and non critical thinking, should not be in ANY way shape or form, in charge of any government bureaucracy..

Or anything for that matter.

Saw this today, can't help myself...

Maybe they should post pictures of his head on top of pornographic compromising positions and label him as a child predator and spread it all around the internet.

This appears to be a case of self inflicted karma taking effect.

I say good...

I'm hoping that they have something really juicy, like some information that implicates him in a corruption scandal. But your idea would also work well

Nice job OP. I cover the front pages of MSM for two sites, CNN and CBC daily, just to see what they aren't telling us. I did notice the article in which Toews was stating that he was surprised to find certain aspects of the C30 bill to exist. The very legislation that he is supposed to be fully cognizant of...

CBC Article

Great post my fellow Canadian, and let's hope we can retain some of our rights and freedoms. Undoubtedly, we are in for a battle and with a majority (of any colour) in the House it will be difficult. We are also victim to our Section 33, which is similar to many of the U.S. laws that had been brought into effect in the last number of years (NDAA, Patriot, Homeland etc.). Section 33 in Canada can suspend any legislation for up to five years, including Constitutional Law.

Section 33

Vic Towes should be, with many other Canadian politicians, be removed from office.

My question is, why was he backing this bill if he "wasn't aware of the details" in the first place. I'm so sick of these snakes lying to us like we're stupid. The media in Canada is on it's way to be regulated China/Russia style if we don't put a stop to it.

I agree, most these clowns need to go.

Maybe we need a bill to protect citizens from government predators like this person. We need one like that here in the USA.

I know Anon are skilled hackers but how do they get access to all this info all the time?

I fully agree. Most of our politician's are merely figures designed to toe cabinet line. The party powers are often run by other than voted representatives. Legislation is not written by the politicians themselves, it is written by lawyers, and lawyers tend to have affiliation and loyalty to those that can give them money and power, in all of it's various forms. Maybe that's why so many lawyers end up being politicians?? Then the cabinet introduces and the party members vote. All according to schedule...

No supported documentation for this response but....

It is a network of technically capable people. Anon must be a broad and all encompassing group that includes the mail room worker, then attendant secretary, heck even the janitor services. Talent for technology is found in all stratification of society.
I like to think that it really is the grassroots of the species pulling together.

This is just a guess on my behalf, but it's probably safe to say that a lot of their information is leaked through regular citizens. Think of it like 6 Degrees of Separation with Kevin Bacon.

I'm pretty sure their networking skills are pretty good too.

I want to know how old the babysitter was that he was having an affair with. I'm surprised that information hasn't been released yet...

There is public information out there on Toews, that isn't so becoming of his character.

You just have to send away for the court transcripts.

I thought the babysitter talk was just a joke until I visited your thread on it. Politicians should know better than to do anything that would be frowned upon, because when you're passing draconian laws people are going to pay attention to what you're doing (including the babysitter).

They never seem to learn, I'm sure he's soiling his depends about this information they got on him.

Sounds like he may have taken some advice from Nancy Pelosi and Harry (can't read) Reid in the U.S.

They back bills because somebody else tells them to.

It's an agenda.

I'm actually surprised Harper used him as a front man for public safety minister. Not only was he schtooping the babysitter, but he had a child out of wedlock and he tried to default on his child support payments.

It makes you wonder what kind of dirt there was on his predecessor Van Loan....
