Just when you thought that deep sea creatures couldn't get any stranger, new pictures of Polychaetes, or scale worms show just how weird life deep beneath the oceans can be.

These things don't even look like they belong on earth.

They look like monsters from another planet. But far from inhabiting some alien world light-years from ours, these frightening looking creatures exist at the bottom of Earth's deepest oceans.

Let's just be thankful that these scale worms are tiny.

Wow cool, funny looking little thing.

The first thing i thought of was the film "Tremors"

I'm not even going to say what i think the last pic reminds me of

Yeah, that was the first thing it remind me of [Tremors], and other thing. HAHA, won't go there. I'm pretty sure in Biology, I learned that when an organism mutates that it can turn into it's own organism. Something like that. That's probably what happened here. Pretty neat organism though. Sure is ugly. But man does it have some teeth on him.

Good thing those are at the bottom of the ocean and not on land. I'd hate to wake up to THAT in my bed!

Do you have any idea how disturbing your appearance must be to them ?

I know for a fact that one of these little fellas has to undergo weekly treatments in the worm psychiatry after facing a fisherman for the first time.

Yeah...some of the most alien lifeforms we can even imagine are actually right here on Earth.
And places like the Marianas Trench and other deep parts of the ocean are so vast..who knows the life that may be there. Reality can indeed be stranger than fiction.
