The pineal gland in our brain secretes melatonin "the hormone of darkness" in diurnal creatures such as humans when the sun sets. Melatonin helps to regulate the sleep/awake cycle. Once we begin to leave earth for extended amounts of time and we do not have this daily cycle how is this going to affect our brain in the long term? is there going to be any way to replicate this cycle with supplements? any thoughts?

Probably why there are so many psychological effects on Astronauts and why enrollment is so rigorous, we humans were made to live and stay on earth like planets not outer-space. Until we evolve in the Star Child from 2001 Space Odyssey best we send robots out there.
