Southern California seems to be quite active today. A 5.5 in Baja at a depth of only 10m.

There's another quake somewhere in the western U.S. that sent a good shock at 8:40 UTC. I haven't seen anyone add it to a finger list yet, but its pretty hard to miss..

There's still pleanty to be concerned about.

Southern California has been moving lately. Some are saying precursors to a big one. Reports of animals behaving strangely in NorCal.

The Wasatch Fault, which is WAY, WAY overdue, has been moving.

Several volcanoes in Russia are still at Yellow and haven't exploded.

Tabacon in Costa Rica has been active. A real shame too, closed a wonderful spring resort.

St. Helens has showing movement last week.

Italian govt is now paying for relocation.

Then there's a very strange pattern in HAARP. Run Gakona for a month at 1000. The East component is obviously descending and the North component is ascending. I have no idea what it means but the trend is very clear. None of the other mags have demonstrated this behavior.

I will not be able to update the quake analysis until this evening. But I wanted to find out what everybody has to say about this swarm of quakes happening in the Tonopah, NV area just north east of Mammoth Lake.

....is anyone else finding it somewhat odd that today's 7.8 mag in Alaska has had
16 major aftershocks already?

Oh yeah,
look at HAARP.

Odd? On this thread that seems normal.

Don't forget to watch the Nova special tuesday night at 8:00pm.

Check out my Nova thread for info!

Even considering this thread, 16 is a lot in such a short time. This probably would have been real bad if it had hit a populous area.
And I try not to miss NOVA, so no worries.

There have been 26 earthquakes in the Rat Islands, Aleutian Islands since October 23. Is this normal? When you look at the map it sticks out like a sore thumb.

There's been 24 earthquakes in the Rat Islands of magnitude 4.4 and up since, well,
yesterday.

No, that's definately not normal. Those are some hellacious aftershocks. We've been watching/documenting quakes for 7 months now, and I can't remember a 48-hour period this active.

What worries me is that some of the fault lines up in AK are inter-related to fault lines in Yellowstone.

Banshee...wasn't that 24 hour period of multiple 7+ aftershocks prior to the 19th? Why isn't any of that data showing up?

That's weird, huh?

Well, they weren't 7+, they were 4+ .... but yeah, that was on the 17th-18th, with quite a few more since then.
How could anyone try to cover that up? LOL it's a little too obvious!!

-B.

PS. Val, the last chart on your page is flipped upside down & backwards or something weird. Seriously.
