Ancient aliens is back on the right track with this first episode of season 4 and a good documentary about the Mayan civilization.

It starts in the palenque temple in Peru where roughly 90% of the site still needs to be excavated. Inside the templepyramid we see some beautiful carvings in the tomb of king pacal which resembles a man in a spacecapsule. It moves on to Guatamala where the mayans also had influence, here we see some weird giant bolders with carvings of various mechanics.

Then the series makes a historical jump back to the olmec civilization and ask questions about the giant heads found in Tabasco Mexico. They also ask questions about the Olmec "astronaut" figure. Olmecs had multiple carvings with "astronauts".

Moving on to the temples of Copan in Honduras we look at the hiroglyphic highway that may be a recording of the history and origin of the mayan rulers.

This episode also mention the human sacrifices to the jaguar gods commited by the mayans. The bloodsacrifice is linked to the return of the gods at some point in the future. Then the episode looks at the mayan documentation on creation myths. Last but not least theres speculations on why the mayans was obsessed with astronomy and how they aquired their superior knowledge in this field.

"Could the ancient Mayans have actually conspired with extraterrestial visitors to plan the future, and even the very end of our world?"
According to the Ancient Aliens series 21/12.2012 might be the day where 9 gods will decend to Earth!?

We all know Ancient Alien's got a lot of guessing in the series. You don’t have to post this, because we already know that. Go to a tread about the serie's validity if you got that kind of comments.

I don't get the impression/gestalt that the carving of the "astronaut" at King Pacal's tomb is a spaceship at all. It looks more like he is peering through a large telescope. This might explain their fascination with astronomy and cycles.

Brilliant! Love this series - Usually watch it on paytv or youtube when paytv is too far behind -
Toss up which is the better series 'Ancient Aliens' or 'The Pyramid Code'

I look forward to watching this one -
Is the 'hair' dude Giorgio Tsoukalos still a 'speaker' - Love Giorgio!

Thanks for sharing

There is another theory other than Ancient Astronauts. It fits better, too, imho.

The nephilim, reportedly, were large--like those stone heads. And like those huge stone heads, they were often described wearing helmets for battle.

Their fathers, the Fallen Ones, not only loved the blood sacrifice of humans, as did their sons the nephilim, but they are also reported to have taught men about the stars and desired to be worshipped as gods.

Their promise to return? Look into the Nine Gods of the Ennead.

I agree that mankind had help building the pyramids, strong help, and probably some occult "technology" thrown in.

THEY are returning...they just need a disguise. A "beard" as it were. Aliens are a great mask.

This 'story' has many, many sources and doesn't require near as much guesserology as Georgio and friends partake in. It's an interesting, eye-opening, study and as a former Ancient Alien theorist myself, I encourage others, who haven't, to consider it as well. Peace.

You could be right.Still the thought of them possessing a telescope of such sophistication would be intriguing.Quite an achievement for the time. It's more of a plausible idea than a spaceship, if you don't really don't believe in the ancient aliens concept. But I can see how people see a ship of some type or their interpretation of it.

P.S.: I wonder if it was a telescope, could it still be buried somewhere on the site along with other types of astronomical instruments? Or did they take it all with them when they left for the stars?

No, it's the tree of life.

It says so on the tomb walls.

Unless, of course, the Mayans are lying to us.

Although they repeated a bunch of information that I had already knew, this episode I feel is kinda like a restart for AA. They got really off track and weird last season. The only thing I remembered from last season was the fact that they almost debunked themselves because they said, if Aliens wanted to come here and destroy us or make life all they had to do was inject some little tiny alien bacteria using a controlled asteroid once the Earth was ripe for life. I think they must have realized this and went back to the basics. Instead of telling people that this whole thing is true allow them to decide for themselves. Also since H2 is a new and different audience than History, it makes sense to do something similar to the movie. Albeit updated with new 2011 and 2012 details!

As always good job Tsoukalos!!! Four years on TV is quite an accomplishment.

But why would an astronaut fly around half naked?

They're really trying to push Tortuguero Monument 6 as proof of ancient aliens? Even the researchers who came up with the translation they used say that translation is wrong.

Good couple of episodes... Georgio's hair is looking the best it ever has. There was one other guy who tried the, "Is it possible...? The answer is YES!" saying, but he just couldn't pull it off as nicely. I can't say I'm on the, "There is definitely gonna be an event," bandwagon, but I am following it to see what happens... Fingers crossed for SOMETHING to happen.

So Dec 21st 2012 the nine gods will return according to the Mayans. They'll get here to see how well the Mayans have developed after all these years and find out they were wiped out. Then we'll all say it was the Spanish that did it! I wouldn't want to be living in Spain when they return.
