I have several books on urban survival in hard times to come and some stuff in it says.
-- Keep a hidden stock pile but make sure it is really well hidden because if it is found after Martial Law is declared and you were asked to
surrender goods, you may be executed for holding back. (Bury your stuff in sealed plastic containers or within walls).
-- DO NOT TELL ANYONE what you have. Don't brag. If and when times get bad, everybody will be looking out for their own self interest. Don't flaunt
your goods to ANYONE.
-- Stock pile now. If you bring home say eight cans of beans or Corn beef Hash and a bottle of aspirin and box of gauge every time you shop, nobody
will notice. Stock pile little by little. That way doing it a little at a time, just a few extra cans and bags of beans and rice will not hurt your
budget vs. going out all hog wild which again is noticeable.
-- Dog food as well as cat food have long shelf lives............yes gross but I tasted (yes I taste anything once before I give it to my Lucy) and
Pedigree Hunky Chunks in a can does not taste bad - it's better stuff than 3/4 of the world eats and it's protein. Not saying I now eat it but I did
take a finger dip and the stuff is not bad - Dinty Moore and Hormel tastes worse (IMO).
-- If possible, buy some land away from the heavily populated areas but than the problem of getting to them may not be easy. Get a bike and ride it.
That may be your only form of transportation and it can go between cars and off road. Its also good exercise.
-- FEMA, Just got done reading Ashfall by Mike Mullin. Pretty good. If we are herded to FEMA Camps, rest assure Fido and Fluffy will not be allowed
in and probably killed
I am not going to any FEMA Camp - I trust my dog more than most humans..........sorry but I've had better experiences in my 59 years of life with four
legged vs two legged animals.
Where my dog goes, I go......................and I will fight to the death if anyone tries to harm her, she's been through enough sorrow in her six of
seven years (puppy mill breeder / six hours away from being gassed and knows it). No, ain't giving up my dog to be with a bunch of back stabbing
humans.
Some good books to read follow:
*** Urban Survival Guide by David Morris
*** The Art of Urban Survival by Stefan H. Verstappen

Start preparing now. Little by little. Even my husband who thinks I am a "conspiracy nut" has a bob in his closet I noticed.
Another good book to get and highly recommended is "Where There Is No Doctor" by Jane Maxwell, David Werner and Carol Thuman Paperback: 446 pages
Publisher: Hesperian Foundation; Revised edition (May 25, 1992).
Of importance, you should already have a nice size first aid kit and if you have a dog or cat have a book on dog/cat vet care.
my vet offered free doggie/kitty CPR classes.
I've also been in nursing and done CPR so I am well acquainted with Code Blues..........Learn the ABC of CPR.
Get to know your neighbors but than again......................learn to not brag or talk about what you have.
The books I mentioned are worth the money - buy them and read them now.
There are lots of sites to GoodSearch (vs Google) a penny for every search and when you shop on line your charity going through GoodSearch nets your
choice charity a penny.
I'm 59 and things have changed so drastically in America, all over the planet in just the last 40 years it's not funny.
Maybe tomorrow will be better, maybe worse, but storing a little extra away is never a bad idea.
One last thought, try to remain on very good terms with your neighbors..............you may need their good will later on.
Safe journey to us all.
My Lucy.
If the SHTF dogs and cats will be considered a nuisance according to our government...............your beloved companion (furbaby) will have even less
rights than you.
