Well, OP...
I can say this to truth and almost stop this debt crap...

STOP Welfare... 90% of welfare is giving free $$ to these people!
1.Drop Outs (Who cares about them, have them 'tested for military experiments'.)
2.Lazy People (When people say 'I can't find a job!', they are being very lazy.)
3.Just plain dumbies.

We need to help the USA Debt? NO!
The USA pays over like $19 Billion a Month/Year to China alone? Why so? We depend on the Chinese Companies so f'n much that we couldn't live now w/o them!

Look back in the 1940's and 50's.
We never depended on China's bs.
We made our own stuff that boy, helped our economy go from down-UUUPPPPPP
So don't say that the US Gov is scamming us, but they can be!

damn,

I can't even think of what to say since it would probably be removed by mods. It wouldn't be, nice...........
I want to.......

and I´m off to listen to immortal technique.......

only remedy for what I am feeling now.

It will only get worse before we make it better. The reason for that is we don't want to yet. No other reason I can think of. What is more important than what our country has become?

Ok, may I now ask since you are the OP here.....In what Godforsaken city are you visiting here in the US that you see people living so deplorable?

i've been to california, new york city and waco texas.

i haven't seen any abnormal poverty.

but from my experience and that's MY experience.

you do have more homeless people as other countries i've visited.

also i get the feeling you're seeing this as an attack on US citizens.

it's not, nor am i judging US citizens.

You are presuming to know American policies or the state of our affairs while being an outsider who is not an American. America's situation (unemployment, poverty etc) is generally no worse than the big Euro powers of France, Britain or Germany.

i didn't persume anything.

i watched the documentary and it touched me.

i felt compelt to share this with Americans.

read back through the thread.

i've never been judgemental about the US in anyway.

like i said in a previous post.

i do feel the US has more homeless people than most other countries i've come across.

this is just a PERSONAL opinion though.

The video also highlights a very, very specific type of community. Inner city schools are always going to have higher poverty levels, poverty rates explode when you bring in illegal immigrant communities.

while that may be.

it doesn't make the problem of poverty any less real.

hence my confusion about the propaganda part.

allthough you've explained yourself in the following paragraph.

So instead of generalizing the United States as if we are a Nation (which we certainly are not) generalize us as a Country. A Republic. With 50 different economic zones, hundreds of cultures, and thousands of governments. (hence why I feel the video is propaganda.. or at least misinformed and generalized)

once again, imho i didn't generalise anybody.

i do understand now i've read over this thread why the video might be misinformed and generalised.

i still fail to see how it is propaganda though.

furthermore as i've explained several times before.

i just shared this for information and discussion purposes and it did a dang good job at that.

Hey Brother Rockpuck, That is a nice example of contrast in living conditions with the 100 miles north example. If you want a shocker though I grew up in one of the most notorious neighborhoods in Cleveland ironically called "Mt Pleasant" and I could literally walk from my doorstep 100 FEET north and be in Shaker Heights and you want to talk about night and day?

On a hot summer day the temperature would be a stifling 90 degrees with 100% humidity, crime roaming about, police sirens everywhere and once you cross the Cleveland/Shaker Heights boarder the temperature would drop 35 degrees with a cool breeze, birds chirping and singing, tree canopied lined streets that made it look like twilight in mid day...pure heavenly bliss 100 feet from all hell breaking loose!

You would have thought that you stepped from hell to paradise in 100 feet!

I was stunned and shocked when i watched this on BBC couple of nights ago.
A great nation that once was America has disappeared.
Shame..To add to that,
Amazing how some of them can be so ignorant of the basic facts.

Leslie 'My mum ate rats'

To which I may add, the suprise by the reporter but later on during the documentry
Mr. Conservative (14.00) added that it is not true.

What kind of a ignorant C*** is he.Seriously some people do not deserve to even live and run a country that is breaking apart around them.

There should be a thread titled "you will not believe some of the things Americans are doing for $200 Nike shoes". That, or what they do to each other for cheap toys and gadgets on black Friday. Am I getting the impression that we don't like the "change" we voted for? As bad as things are, still no one is starving to death nor turning to cannibalism. I still have dozens of people in line in front of me paying for their prime rib and lobster with their ebt cards. Next year we will long for things we have now. Ketchup soup will be a delicacy.

hellzdom let me straighten you out...We THE PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES are no where near living in sewers and eating rats. Life for our most spoiled of spoiled brats may not be what it used to but our STANDARD OF LIVING is still above ANY OTHER COUNTRY'S PAR IN THE WORLD!

I can't stop eating prime steak, lobster, crab-legs, shrimp, veal, venison, caviar. Is it expensive living an American life ...yes!

...but well worth the money!

I probably on average spend about $75,000/ year on eating alone, most of which I leave in Chicago, Illinois, West Palm Beach, Florida, Miami, Florida, South Beach, Florida when traveling and vacationing 8.5 months out of the year. I have very fine and exquisite taste buds.

Nothing wrong with living the King's life.

It´s fine that you call me out on not being an American and all.

still doesn´t mean i can´t have an opinion though.

bu you yourself seem pretty far detached from ´normal´ Americans as well, judging by your comment below.

Las Vegas... really? That's a horrible city to choose for this sort of report. Las Vegas has always had sleezeballs and deadbeats. They even had the nerve to call Vegas the capital of capitalism... riiiiight.

Notice that the guy they interview is holding a.... cigarette. 'Cause those don't cost any money or anything. Why not move? Why not get help from family? Why not seek help at a church? Why not seek help at a mosque? Why not look for work wherever you can find it, and take whatever you can get. Then, once you have yourself established enough look for a better job.

Work your way up until you have enough money to live comfortably.

I know that there are good people who are going without. That happens. However, I feel that several of these people could work their way out of their own financial depression if they'd just do something different.

Oh, and that guy that went to the ER and turned down the surgery needs to know that you can have the surgery and pay the hospital $25 or $50 a month forever and get that thing taken care of.

it's good to see that jobs are getting shipped out of the western world and mainly into Asia. Balances things up, after hundreds of years of oppression. After all these jobs should stay in Asia, because the main consumer market more and more shifts into Asia.

The West has always been passionate and always will be, America particularly took nothing from Asia, we are the civilization we are because we were motivated, the only thing wrong is that we are like a child after a big meal, we became sluggish and all it will take is a very short period of dealing with the consequences to get motivated again. you eat too much you get sick for a time and you learn and come through it stronger than ever.

"it's good to see the jobs being shipped out" Indonesia... a Nation that has never in all of history done anything for itself or accomplished anything and your bragging about what amounts to a gift given out of lethargy that won't last, it's almost humorous, because as a people for all intents and purposes your mindset now and for all of a century has been that your owed something from those that accomplished more than you, a disease of a mindset that has infected America for a very short period of time and is at least acknowledged,

When this "phase" is over in America. Indonesia will still be, the way we are now and your words echo that, you are owed something lol, a mindset that has persisted for centuries, In America people like myself scream to wake others up and activate them, this wont last long, but your words are telling

even after decades of mining up indonesia's gold via freeport, you are still under crushing debt. from my point of view it can only get downward unless you change your thousands of rules, laws and restrictions and the endless political bickering among "motivated and highly skilled" Corruptors. Nowadays war is the only way for you to keep the Upperhand, but this will only worsen your situation via debts.

The wheel of time is turning slowly around and we surely enjoy it ! So please... continue shipping your jobs overseas to the ones who should rightfully have it.

whatever lol, what we describe as the worst of America a Girl as example who's mom ate a rat... A (singular) Rat, who was probably on some serious Meth btw to be in that shape okay... a cheese burger is 99 cents at Mc Donalds I could walk out my door and bum that in under 5 minutes... only a tweaker decides to catch a rat is easier than buming .99 cents

But that reality is the daily reality for 20% of Your population while there is a discrepancy between the rich and poor in America that has created hardship we let food rot, the other 80% of us don't WANT the jobs we send you

America and one side of you and OZ on the other are still the two most Obese nations on Earth, most of us are fat, you can FIND examples of what is the only critique that is real, our lack of compassion for the poor, but meanwhile most of us are still too fat and your people in poverty are starving for real and as I say to those in here what we do have WRONG is OUR FAULT the same applies to YOU and your situation Is and has always been far worse

I grew on on Kinsman Road in the crime ridden neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant in Cleveland, Ohio. Enough said.

Just because I am not indigent does not mean that I never knew how it was to be indigent. My bio is no mystery, and unlike Jesus Christ there are no missing chapters in my life. I have people with whom I grew up with who are still a part of my life and my origin is verified so is my upbringing, education and also my businesses. You should try writing about PEOPLE and LIFESTYLES that you KNOW instead of tossing OPINIONATED BS out here and baiting forums with BS.

btw Einstein.... look at your topic and learn proper English....your topic is stating a fact not opinions. So I see you are not here to attend any of our fine educational institutions.

If you want to know how us Americans are living get off the internet/Youtube and get out in the streets of AMERICA!

You may surprise yourself and dampen your ignorant opinions of our living conditions with factual knowledge!

Know fact from opinion!

i do feel the US has more homeless people than most other countries i've come across.

I wouldn't argue with that.. most states shuttered mental health facilities back in the 80's / 90's .. they put the mentally insane out on the streets. Which is why in most large cities the homeless crowd is so crazy. If you ever come to Portland, Seattle, and some Californian towns you will see a huuuuggeeee population of kids living on the streets in groups. We call them "street kids" .. most are not really homeless. Many are run aways and are truly poor and homeless, but most have debit cards to their parents accounts (usually from CA) who are doctors and lawyers and for whatever reason want to live on the streets. I find it almost impossible to tell anymore who really is homeless and who's just a dumbass.

i still fail to see how it is propaganda though.

Uhg.. it's BBC.. MSNBC does it often too .. these corporations push a socialist agenda, the ultimate aim of the programs are to say America sucks and we need to pay more taxes to "take care of people" .. when the programs unfairly focus on a few select regions and demographics then portrait is across the entire country.
