Police buy cemetery plots to block Josh Powell from being buried next to his boys

usnews.ms nbc.msn.com

sheriff and his sergeant in Washington state have bought burial plots next to Josh Powell's boys in order to block family members from burying him next to them, according to a media report Wednesday.

"The bottom line is, Josh Powell will not be near those two boys," Pierce County Sheriff's Sgt. Ed Troyer said in an interview with a Seattle-area radio program called the Ron and Don Show.

I think this guy is
a sicko. That does
not mean his FAMILIES
wishes should be trumped
by a bunch of police officers.
They already did not do
there jobs when this could of
been stopped. WHY WAS THIS
GUY NOT ON SURVALIANCE?
BUT NOW they want to be
some great saviours and make
sure he can not be burried next
to the boys.
For the families sake, let them decide
it is none of the police business.
There business would of been
stopping this. SHAME ON THEM!

Actually, shame on the Powell family for even thinking of burying that monster in the same cemetary where the boys he murdered are buried. According to the Seattle Times it was Crime Stoppers that bought the plots. If you read the article and the comments you will see that Powell gets very little sympathy in the area. The shame is on the Powells, not the police.

It bothers me they used some crimestopper funds to buy the plots. The tweet says crimestoppers bought the plots. What a misuse of money. I'm all for it if they would have spent personal money on it, but it looks like that's not the case.

You can't devote countless man hours to surveillance if there isn't enough proof. You would probably be crying that the police were invasive if they did keep watching this guy. I say good on them though I am a little confused what crimestoppers is doing handing over donated money in this case. Having those children buried next to the man that murdered them with a hatchet and then lit the house on fire is disgusting. In this case, no I don't think it should be up to the family. Especially not the Grandfather considering he appears to have a penchant for child pornography.

I would of had the jobber
cremated. YES he is
a monster, a terrible person,
a true criminal.

What gives the police or crime stoppers
the right to decide?
NONE

It's not like the police are officially doing this. Being involved in the case it probably became very important for the officers involved to keep the children as far away from the bastard as possible (even in death). I am actually having less of a problem with Crime Stoppers being used because I believe that is all donated money and they are allowed to do with it what they see fit.

Indeed, at this point, it doesn't matter where or who they are buried next to,

what ever your beliefs are about the afterlife, i don't think the spot you are buried dictates it,

and whilst i get it was done symbolically, as stated prior, a misuse of money,

Crime stoppers is basically
a branch of the local PD.
THEY SHOULD OF NEVER ALLOWED
THE KIDS THERE ALIVE!!
There dead now.
The police or crime stoppers using
money now on the dead children
is pointless. They know they screwed up
and this does not make up for it.

The Police are always the first on the scene of brutal crimes and are responsible for preserving the scene. This means Police see the carnage of human rage and insanity.

The Police who have been affected by the crimes against two vulnerable and defenceless Children are dealing with their grief. To deal with what they have experienced they are doing what they can. It seems to me that the Police could not keep the father away from the Children in life - so - by keeping the father away from the Children in death - the Police feel they have a coping mechanism - for not being there to protect the Children.

In short the Police feel guilty for not being able to protect the Children - that is part of their oath and they want to make it right. We do see a lot of unacceptable Police behaviour and this is a profound example of the other facet to Police and the good they try to do.

Much Peace...to all the Victims in this senseless tragedy...

It was the court that let powell keep his kids, not the police. And I don't think he does need to be next to them for eternity after murdering them.

The police department could
of ran surveillance and watched
this mofo..

Don't give me that resource crap, one
officer all it takes. NOT against the law
to keep an eye on someone who is suspected
of murder and is a danger to society.

THEY HAVE THE RESOURCES NOW to
buy a bunch of grave sites?

TOO LITTLE TO LATE GUYS.

There's something troubling about even the idea of this being a public discussion.

This is not a matter for the authorities.

This is not even a matter of 'public' concern.

Frankly, there's an argument to be heard on the irrelevance of where corpses are buried.

They are dead.

It's too late to care.

Which makes the entire matter, one of selfishness.

(Reminder to self: Get more sleep.)

Some people thought that Josh Powel was wrong to wack his kids in the neck and head with a hatchet and burning himself and his kids in a gasoline house fire. Some people of the public were outraged when Josh's family wanted Josh to be buried next to the kids he murdered .

The people did all they could. They had "Crime Stoppers" buyt the three gravesites for around 5000 dollars each. They wrote out a check to the funeral home today. The money is being donated to "Crime Stoppers". The Crime Tipping organization that works with local police to prevent and report crimes.

The people who support these murdered kids and their family wants to reserve the nearby gravesite for the kids mother who authorities believe was also murdered by Josh Powel more than a year ago.

The only person who may know what happened to the kids mother is Josh Powels Father .... who is named Steve powel. Who is now serving time in jail for child pornography.

No public money is going to be spent on this, the money is being sent right now to "Crime Stoppers". Last I heard more than half the money has been gathered already from donators.

If you want to know the side of the story that I heard. Go to www.mynorthwest.com and click on the "ron and don show".

Big Story it is here in the Seattle region.
