Why do you love the World War 3?

In serious response to these threads:
Why do you love the USA?
Why do YOU love Israel?
Why do you love Iran?

WW3 in society.

World War is marketable. Look at the latest games and even movies 1950s onwards. World War 3 sells. The populace seems to love it. No one is ignorant to a possible global thermonuclear war, massive tank battles in Europe, invasion of Korea or Iran, Georgia going hot, or some crack-pot warlord in Africa getting a nuclear warhead. All these ideas are recurring in every form of media. Not just corporate media! Local bar talk, your child playing make believe war, your own grandmother talking to you about the latest worries; it just seems to naturally occur.

Regardless of the theme, setting, or time period; humanity loves to live on the edge of panic. I love it. You love it. We all get a thrill out of potential war of catastrophic proportions. Religions involve super wars between men and gods, gods and gods, men and men that seem to preset or bring about the end of the world. Even in rebirth of 'Gaia' stories where the world goes to war with man to cleanse us. That is STILL War, and STILL love of WW3 or any "catastrophic conflict."

EDIT: TLDR Thread- War takes no sides. It is a universal human exciter. No matter how peaceful or warloving you are, you love to talk WW3 because it excites/makes feel good.

Why?

There are three major types of War Lovers: Thrill Seekers, Peace Lovers, and Religious. Obviously there are individual reasons as to why WW3 attracts people, but these are the obvious ones.

Thrill Seekers:The largest category by far and can include people who also are in other categories. War excites humans, even the most pie-baking, grandchild loving, sweet little old lady. War stimulates our mind in many ways.

Whether you want to admit it or not...we are animals. Why do we watch horror films? It excites us. Why do we look at porn? It turns us on. Why do we talk to friends and family? Socializing feels good. Feels Good - You can live in a state of fear because you love the rush! It STIMULATES YOUR BRAIN. You can not stop this. You have no real control. Believing you have control is simply stimulating your brain, which is not true control.

Some people live in fear not because it excites them to be on the edge of a power they can't stop. Rather, that they were raised to do it. It isn't that they go out of their way for this 'thrill' - but rather they just expect it. They know no better. Regardless of raised this way, or choosing to follow it... it still excites.

Peace Lovers: I expect the harshest backlash here... I'm not trying to upset you or cause a fight, but listen and ask yourself if this does or does not make sense.

Do you feel good when you tell your friends how much you want world peace? Does it feel good to say you have a solution for X Crisis in Y Region? To go and tell family that you wish people would only do it your way and that it doesn't make sense?

Yes. Deep down you do. You feel good for telling people who peace loving you are. Peace is good, therefor you are good for wanting peace right? Let us end the wars and have peace! What if the wars did end...then you would have social arguments on what is best - the 'good' feeling would need to come from somewhere. Don't believe me? Look at crime-free communities...they still find SOMETHING to "be better than thou" at. It is natural, I am not saying you -want- to be a snob...I'm saying you can't help yourself. IT IS NATURAL for the brain to say without you noticing, knowing, or realizing: "Look, this is a big bad thing! I feel good for telling people how bad it is."

War is the most universal threat. It doesn't temporarily go away like crime or social issues can. It is usually not local to you. You don't live with war! You might live with crime or in a poor income state...but you don't actually face war daily. It is a universal bogey man. You face "world war 3 (or even end-of-world apocalypse)" just as much as the girl scout who sells cookies or the man on death row faces it. Everyone can relate to it without living with it or having a real, first hand experience. Because it will affect our lifestyle, majority 'fear it' for feel good, and tell others how much it should not happen.

Religion: Loomed, horrible wars have always been the staple of many religions. It gives people hope that their beliefs will stay the doom-event. That in times of war they will be victorious. That in death they will be rewarded/recognized/not-cease-to-exist...and their enemies will be granted eternal punishment/enlightenment/regret for eternity...all the while saving their heathen populace from themselves.

As above, this makes people feel good. "I have it right...and BECAUSE there is a giant looming war of death and fiery destruction...my religion is justified and you should listen." This does not mean I am saying your beliefs are wrong or there is no war...just that you feel rewarded to tell people about it if you are in this category.

Wanting it: Some people actually do want it...not just enjoy the feel good of discussing/warning/thinking of it... these can fall into any of the above. For many reasons. I won't get off into this...but some DO want it.

I DON'T LOVE WORLD WAR X, IT IS HORRIBLE!

SOMEONE will post here how wrong this is and how they do not love WW3 and how horrible it is. That loving WW3 makes you a bad person, and they are not. How could they love humans, do Earth Day, go to church, raise children, take care of animals, or any other homely thing...and enjoy/love WW3?

Simple, it makes you feel good. As I already said. If you don't enjoy the topic...then why are you here? Why are you bothering with a WW3 forum?

"I want the latest news!" - You enjoy the fear or need fuel to tell others. Or debate how bad it is or the tactics (thrill.) Sure, prepare all you want, news is useful for this...but still, it excites you even if you just use it for good reason.
"I want to share my opinion." - You enjoy telling people how good you are and love to agree with others of like mind. Feels good.
"I want to warn the world of X religious Y" - See above.

Now by no means is this meant to be a comprehensive analysis of everyone's opinions... this is just a generalization. A study of why we humans insist on discussing WW3. It can be applied to 2012/Disasters/Social/Political issues... but in this light, purely WW3.

So tell me, why are you here?

ME? I love telling people. Warning them of it before mainstream media does. The feel good of "I was first to tell!" so I watch others post here... I also get a thrill out of the actual national-level tactics... I know, and do not wish to disrespect, actual combat veterans. War is not a game...it isn't something to be degraded and placed into a 'sports' category... but it still excites me.

If it didn't excite us...why Sports? Why war games? Why war movies? Why war models? It engulfs out entire society... our society revolves around feeling good.

Thank you for reading and I hope I offended no one. It is just how I see it and what I understand of humanity.

Tell me, why do you come here? Discuss.

Because what will come out of it is justice and peace.
FYI America, we deserve a lot of justice. We've done some evil things as a country.

People who WANT WW3 are depressed and disappointed with their own life, so instead of bettering themselves to reach a level of what one would call "success".. They'd rather the world crash down on all those around him, so everyone can equally be depressed and disappointed.

Good post I like war games, movies, I love the fallout series of. Computor games
When I actualy get right down to it. I'm scared of WWIII!!!

I think humans thrive on Conflict. It's in our blood, our DNA

Honestly. When you first saw 911 on tv that morning. Your adrenalin started pumping, you wanted ,craved more info!!! And all the channels on tv had it,feeding your rush!! It's an adiction!!

Most people are scared of WWIII. They want all the info they can get to survive a possible war and we are getting closer everyday to it

I definatly don't want it to happen but I feel better being prepared for it

Be safe people

I hope you get a lot of genuine responses to this because it is very well written and put together. I wish I could write posts like you. I always seem to come off as ranting or mean...

I like WWIII because of what it can do with our economy. WWII helped America get out of the Great Depression and as much as the Obama Admin tries to spew their rhetoric, we are in a Depression today! I also like WWIII because of what it could possibly do. It could be the restart of society that so many on ATS wish for. But it's wishful thinking because as much as war is part of society so is greed! Great Post!

This would also cause a global lower vibration to occur. SAD people cannot just spend all that time and money on defense ect. on things like global school and hospitals. This is why I sometimes think there may be a hidden agenda for human product. I know its waaaaaay outta box but It does make me wonder why it seems this is the only way to solve probs. good point made

War is horrible. But we're so close to the evolutionary tipping point, that WW3 would serve remarkably as catalyst for mass awakening.

Think. Millions will die, over there. Our sons and daughters that joined, served democracy, American values and we can be proud they did so. But then those who don't want to fight, will be taken. It does not stop at all with the pen forging the legitimacy of our natural, god-given rights, no. What we will realize in due time, that we've been prisoners all along. We bought into it, accepted it, incorporated it into our beliefs systems through institutions including our families. But there is hope, we can break out, and I believe, that this catalyst, however dreadful it is, will serve its ultimate purpose to get us individually to look into ourselves and see what we have become. And choose, whether or not to follow, like sheep, or to trust oneself, in believing your life is precious, and that you're not going to lay down any longer. That what defines humanity is not the tyranny we impose on others, but for standing up and acting on what's right to do!

V for Vendetta. When the cop kills the little girl, and the people fight back. That is what I foresee.

And thank God.

Hi Foxe, I am against any form of war.
War was an "Invention" in the early days of mankind, the tribe days.
The benefits were:
Prevention of inbreeding and a stimulus for creativity.

We don't need that any more.
Now it just has downsides.

On the subject of nukes I can be short, I am convinced that no nuke on Earth works.
Some ET's made them all useless, that is why Obama wants to get rid of 80%.
All larger country's know this, apart from idiot states like North Korea.

Because I am positive that Iran has nuclear weapons, it is slightly obvious & they are even admitting to nuclear activity:

;

www.bbc.co.uk...

timesofindia.indiatimes.com...

en.wikipedia.org...

www.guardian.co.uk...

It's been all over the news for awhile now & even predictions into Iran possessing Nuclear Weaponry before it happened & started the Third World War is supposed to be predicted THIS YEAR.

I don't want another World War at all, i'm already fed up with the ones that are going on already.

To be honest, the thought of another World War scares the hell out of me, with the weaponary that is available in this modern age, it could blast us right back to medieval times. But sadly i think there are quite a lot of people who want that.

What these armchair warmongers don't seem to realise, is that they may be the first to perish if a nuclear/emp style WW3 war did actually happen. So i'm guessing they may be a little on the suicidal side.

Part of me knows it has a potential to be epic as all get out and the other part of me knows that the cost of such a war in human terms alone would be beyond my imagination

sure I play war games, but for much different reasons. since the world around me decided it wanted to be crazy as hell and have oppurtunities for something like WW3 to break out, I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about war and how to survive one should it occur. I don't like war.

example, I learned martial arts so I know how to fight. I don't exactly like to fight unless I have to.
the same applies to war, I learned basic tactics, weaponry etc..
so that should the time ever come where you people decide you want to kill me, you won't be able to easily.

just being aware of all the different methods of military action gives you an advantage over someone who has never thought about it once.

People are bored Pax-Americana has lead to the most peaceful time in human history and it does not lend well to war talk since the Soviets fell. So you have to create a fanatsy coalition and pretend they are more powerful and dumber than they are.
