The federal debt has increased by $4.47 trillion since President Barack Obama released his first federal budget on Feb. 26, 2009.

That budget was entitled, “A New Era of Responsibility.”

On Feb. 26, 2009, as Obama released his budget for fiscal 2010, the national debt stood at $10.88 trillion (10,881,159,722,022.36). At the close of business on Feb. 9, 2012, the national debt stood at $15.36 trillion ($15,355,838,921,022.16). That represents an increase in the debt of $4.47 trillion ($4,474,679,198,999.80).

Debt Has Climbed $4.47T Since Obama Released First Budget—Calling for ‘A New Era of Responsibility’

So, what happened to the "New Era of Responsibility"? It's responsible to be in debt over $15 trillion dollars? Who is to blame here? It happened under Obama's watch, and now America is poised to put him back into office. When a football team tanks for the season, the coach is always blamed, right?

Well, I'm going to go off the reservation here. Obama can be blamed for plenty of things that should make him ineligible to continue being our president. And a few things to make him ineligible to continue being out of prison. We call economic policies "his" policies, "his" being the current sitting president's policies, whomever that may be. But Obama has a council of economic advisers, that assist him in making decisions. His problem is that he is listening to them.

But the bulk of the blame should go to our Congress. These people have ruined our economy more than any president could hope to. The bulk of our spending addiction comes from them, and they perform that function admirably. To be sure, Obama is solely to blame for our military spending, since with the stroke of a pen he could bring any or all of our soldiers home at any time. The rest of it is spent by Congress, men and women in the pockets of special interest groups and big corporations.

What happened to the Republicans, a group that for decades was extolled for their "fiscal responsibility"? They've actually been the big spenders in Congress' Race to Kill America. And Democrats are just as culpable as they keep raising our taxes so the Repubs can spend even more. They are hand-in-hand in this conspiracy against you and me to put us out on the street. But to what what end? Spend, spend, spend, tax, tax, tax. What is the result of all of this? What could the government hope to get out of this from us? Dependency on them for everything we need, that's what.

The government is growing at an alarming rate, and every year we become more dependent upon them for our wants and needs. Every call for "free healthcare, free mortgages, free tuition" is met with derision and scorn by the Republicans and cheers by Democrats. Yet we are poised, for the first time in American history, to begin Obamacare in 2013. Congress is about to allow forcing banks to lower mortgage rates. Congress is going to allow ways to lower tuition.

With the exception of very few in our Congress, your representatives and Senators aren't your friend. They hate freedom, they hate prosperity, they hate the pursuit of happiness, and they hate you for wanting it. They have us by the throat, and they revel in it.

What can we do about it? There are those that believe voting makes no difference. Well, that's something that keeps a person warm and cozy at night when they realize they voted for the wrong person. I voted for Obama because I was taken in by his words. I hadn't done my homework on him, and apparently nobody else had either. At least the people like me, anyway. But he was voted in by America.

Voting them out is the only way to get them off our backs. We are their employers, and they need to be fired. Pelosi, Reid, Ryan, Boehner...all of them need to be recycled.

Only we can kick them out. All eyes are on the presidency this year. But whether it's Obama or Romney, it'll be the same suit. The real movers and shakers are the 535 allowing the president to do whatever he wants, or preventing him from doing so. Make Congress vote the way we, their constituents, want them to. Let them know that they aren't in charge any more.

Our economy can't take their crap much longer. Neither can our country or her people.

Easy explanation, the "New Era of Responsibility" is simply a catch phrase meant to influence voters. Obama and his advisers know that the vast majority of voters do not actually research any issues, they just simply vote on who looks better and who has the better commercials. We are the 1% on here, the 1% who actually think for ourselves.

It doesn't make any difference who the puppet is in the White House anymore ... the next step will be devaluation of the dollar.

Amazingly, Obama is able to spend without actually having a budget. Last year the budget he submitted didn't receive a single vote. Obama believes he can just drop his plan and run without ever looking back or without ever holding Congress accountable for not passing any budget at all.

Obama spends via appropriations and continued and successful pushes to raise the debt ceiling every few months. And we wonder how he could spend us into such a mess. Shame on Congress for enabling him.

He's part of the problem, and he obviously condones Congress' behavior or he would put a stop to it.

Obama presided over the Stimulus and the disaster of a health plan. All that entitlement spending only added misery to the military spending(to use Ron Paul's definition). Obama clearly does not care what his policies are doing to the real economy. Keynesian policy can go only so far. Donald Trump called it "inflating our way out of a crisis".

Also since Republicans took the House back but the Senate is still Democrat majority, the Republicans were able to at least stall the passing of Tax and Cap, but if that had passed it would be even worse for the economy.

I blame Geithner and the Fed too

Where is the current "era of responsibility" I also wonder

The first era failed to the letter.

Obama & Co. have created and attached new meanings to "era of irresponsibility"

This whole "New era of Responsibility" jargon is simply progressive code speak for the advancement of their greater agenda which has absolutely nothing to do with FISCAL Responsibility.

This is all about Social Responsibility and the progressive wet dream. Soros' "Open Society", The Greater Good, The ends Justify the Means, The Responsiblity to Protect Doctrine that is being spewed by the UN as it relates to our involvement in situations in Egypt, LIbya, Syria, Uganda, South Sudan etc etc.

This is world wide "Responsibility" rhetoric that Obama is uttering from his lips. He is involving our great nation in a giant social engineering scheme. The manipulation of the masses is mind numbing. Just look at how the Occupy movement has been used during the first protests of Wall Street to how they are morphing into political protesters. Everything that we first saw with this group was just a dry run for November. It was a rally cry and a recruitment drive. Unfortunately for them, they will be met with a far greater resistance from the True Majority of this nation.

OOOOFF!! Keep your eyes WIDE open while Obama plays 3 Card Monty with our lives.
