Just for those claiming that "a 90 year old guy can't be typing this and know anything about computers"..
My grandfather is 88 years old, and not only works on and fixes his own computers..
But other peoples as well.

I get paid to work on computers..
and he has helped even me, more than once!
And he can type/write very, very well.

Nice to see you again Alonzo.
Hope ATardS haven't "scared you off" as they like to think. lol

Mr T
With the greatest of respect you don't appear to come across as a man who would like to share much information at all.

If you were, then surely you would be taking an active part in discussions as opposed to posting a pre written thread, making a couple of replies then dissapearing for a long time before replying again.

You have given a couple of tantalizing titbits but nothing more.....have you done this on purpose....after all you said you had taken a long time to compose the thread.....so why not give it a little more meat?

You used this tactic in your intro thread, made a few one off cross forum posts in between, often hinting at either your age or your military service. (almost trying to justify who you are).

So what is it going to be this time Sir?
Are you going to continue the discussion and take an active part, or is this another case of throw the dogs a bone and watch them rip it apart? (No offence to dogs, bones or anyone else implied)

I just hope this thread isn't going to go the same way as your other thread......That is...No further input from your good self.

I think it is wrong to see someone use the sacrifices of millions of dead men and women for a joke. I will speak out against that.

AND seeing as I have been contributing to this forum years more than you have(not that it means anything)

It doesn't mean anything to me. Maybe it gives license to the "history police": Those who must save us from ourselves.

I really dont care what it means to you. The reason I made that statement was in reply to yours about where I should post. Like I said in the quote who are you to tell me where I can or cant post? Care to answer the question that you quoted and then twisted to be something that had nothing to do with the original post?

I'm sorry.

I've read every word of both A. Typer threads (not sure exactly why) and my biggest question is; what is a walt?
Something akin to a hoaxer, I assume. But, there must be more...if you don't mind.

Thanks

PS Mr. Typer, the jury seems to be out as to whether you will return.

I look forward to reading more!

What you choose to believe should have NOTHING to do with what we choose to believe.

Correct. But now that all of you have decided that it is a HOAX, why aren't you finished with it? Please explain why you are still hammering away with your opionion? The answer? You feel that it is somehow necessary for all of us to share your opinion. I don't right now. I want to hear more. You and your "buddies in truth" are reducing the possibility that I will be able to enjoy the thread and explore this to additional depth. I don't see why this thread matters to you any more. Why not leave it to us "dumb and gullable" folks who want to hear more?

My family is of privileged european descent, but I was born in the USA. Due to the alcoholism, gambling, abandonment and over all debauchery of my Father, my childhood was one of squalor and uncertainty.

Not to worry, I'm not going to tear you apart like some of our ruder members chose to do. On an anonymous board you have to take them with a grain of salt. As you have no doubt seen by now, most of the "theories" on here are utter nonsense, but buried under a mountain of that are some true gems. Like gems you have to search for them.

The first thing I noted is your style of writing is correct for your era and claimed age. The younger members would not know that. Now they only see that from Authors and Journalists. Your introductory post is closed so I could not say hello there. Welcome to ATS.

My Father would be about 11 years your senior and my Mother about the same age. I've read many letters in our family history and your writing style is spot on. I can almost see your perfect cursive writing in my head.

Not being "privileged" their history was quite different. As you know at that time only those from families with money stayed in school beyond 8th grade. Being from poor ranching and farming families, the kids went to work by age 14. Their experience in WW2 was quite different. My Mother built roads for Union Pacific Railroad with picks and shovels. My Father having poor eyesight could not enlist, so he worked building ships in the ship yards.

I might have a question or two as I have time to catch up on your thread. Enjoy it here and ignore people who need ignoring. Don't blame them as we see so many frauds start here with posts just like yours. Usually people are here for a while before they share any personal stories. They have reason to be skeptical. Only Skeptics end up with the truth which is what people come here looking for.

The one thing about ATS I can't stand is how the decorum goes right out the door whenever an opportunistic window is shattered by the throngs of aggressive skeptics.

While I have no issue with his story being ripped apart, I do have an issue with the fact that before a person even has a chance to set things straight, a myriad of folks jump on the pile like it's the superbowl fumble that decides the game.

Mods should close threads like this at this point to give a chance for the OP to at least respond to even 1 or 2 comments instead of 1000 being piled on in a negative flood unable to respond to.
----------

IF the OP is reaL, GIVE HIM A REAL CHANCE TO RESPOND.

Thus far I've sat with a historical scholar whom has destroyed some of the damning comments some other"scholars" here claim as proof of a lie..
A few arguments are valid and require a response before I swallow the OP's story/recount, but a good many linguistic traits are conflicting with a dismissal of the author..

chill out people, allow another post from the OP to effectively determine validity.

Im very new here so excuse for seeming out of place. Find it strange a new face pops in when sensitive information is at risk for exposure? You should, unless everyone here is daft. This thread is huge, yet despite the warning from my inner voice, i will post. I had a TSSCI in the USN. I know who monitors and screens these websites, and also know its perfectly fine that I say what I do. Having said authority, I have an important question.

What was your need to know basis for being escorted to our 'engineering' department? What colour was your clearance? With all due respect, of course. Andwering these two in a timely matter assuredly circumvents any required 'honesty' adjudicator. For me at least. Thank you.

P.s. im new ats. How am i notified when a post of mine is responded to? In exchange, Ill indulge some of you who are unf2miliar with what a TSSCI is. Top secret security clearance information. Yes, I know Im exposing myself by even saying THAT, ahem mr.typer. Notice how that isnt an issue with me? Do the math.

I dont believe i have piled anything on, just made an accurate observation based on what i have read in these pages, and made a comment as per my opinion, much as what happens in forums. Agreed some have been a bit harsh, they arent the posters i was reffering to. I was in fact reffering to the posters who asked LEGITIMATE questions and were, in the first page or two, ignored by Alonzo Typer, and have since been ignored.

I guess i just thought that if you believed in yourself and getting your point across, you would want to make your point heard. Fact is you will never have 100% agree with you no matter what your point is, and if you are going to let them stop you, why even bother in the first place?

Patton's first army that stormed Normandy's beach heads were not Marines but they still did an amphibious assualt on a beach head on naval equipment from my understanding, why not a yorktown class?

I know it is cool to ignore staff direction........but let me tell EVERYONE AGAIN.

As a reminder to everyone:

The Gray Area: The Gray Area is a discussion forum that provides a dedicated area for members to post their confessions, disclosures, and related extraordinary personal experiences. Like the highly speculative Skunk Works forum, The Gray Area will tolerate topics that may be unusually hypothetical or unproven for the purpose of vetting the stories of thread-starters by the ATS membership at large.

As has been said many times, ATS has been hoaxed many times. Tall tales have been told many times. This is not to say the OP is doing this. This is to say, it happens.

The members here are not only sharp and extremely knowledgeable but yes, they do vet stories that are extraordinary. It is to be expected and should be welcomed. However, let us all remember, you may debate and question stories until your fingers bleed but you must do so with Civility and Decorum. Manners are expected.

This means........anyone can question the legitimacy of the claims made in the OP. It is allowed. It is expected as per the description of this forum.

vetting
to appraise, verify, or check for accuracy, authenticity, validity, etc
dictionary.reference.com...

If you feel the need to criticise someone for questioning an extraordinary story, your post is OFF TOPIC which is in violation of the TERMS & CONDITIONS OF USE

15f.) Relevant Content: You will not Post messages that are clearly outside of the stated topic of any forums or disrupt a forum by deliberately posting repeated irrelevant messages or copies of identical messages (also known as "flooding").

So knock it off! You may find yourself post banned for an indefinite amount of time if it does not stop. Or the thread may be closed.

Anyone can question and debate the legitimacy of the topic.....but nobody can attack other members for doing so. You may question the legitimacy of what is being told, but you may not attack and be rude to the OP or anyone else. Don't agree with something? Either don't respond or find a way to do with w/in the T&C. Again, Civility and Decorum is expected in all forums.

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading both your introduction and this post Alonzo, so thank you.

I must admit to doing a quick google search on the meaning of Alonzo, and it seems you chose a very apt name.

Alonzo relating to the German Alphonse, meaning prepare for battle.

I wish you luck in ATS and hope you don't stop sharing your story because of the negativity thrown at you in this thread. There will be a lot of naysayers, but there are also a lot of people prepared to listen and hear you out before making judgements.

All the best JX.

Does this not apply to those who have called the skeptics names?

Why post a warning just for the skeptics?

As for the believers....a poster told a story that can be verified by other sources and it is failing...not all of us are content with lies.

So you want to blindly believe...go for it...just don't try to censor those of us who insist on truth.

Well I know it has already been stated in the 5 pages of this thread I have dredged through but I will chip in. Upon first read several things struck me as being inconsistent. Firstly surely you would post your actual ship not just say a CVN Yorktown class. I also believe that he is being dishonest about being a radio operator on a carrier born B-25. If you were going to try to claim you were an active part of THE (as in one and only) Doolittle raid launched off the USS Hornet. Not to mention that you would include the fact that you only had just enough fuel to make it to your raid on Honshu, Japan and that one of the 16 B-25s even had to land in the Soviet Union and the entire crew was interned for a year. Also might be nice mention the crew members captured and executed by the Japanese,a total of 11 of your alleged fellow airmen captured or killed.

I believe that you most likely did spend time time in the pacific theater but there is no way in hell that you were apart of the Doolittle raid especially considering ALL of the crews of the B-25s used in said raid were all USAAF personal no Navy men involved in the flight at all (aside from transport and launch of course).

I'm not going to even get into the SkunkWorks inconsistencies as I feel it would just be flogging a very dead horse.

It says you (in general) may not be rude to ANYONE. It does not matter if you believe or dont believe. T&C are clear and manners is expected. It is a message to EVERYONE.

I edited....hopefully it clarified it.
