Hello again.
As promised, I spent the majority of my weekend preparing the following submission. I spent a great deal of time browsing through other members contributions, as I felt with the controversial behavior my introduction thread received, I had better make sure I’m going about this the right way. I had my grandchildren attempt to explain how to post pictures and references, but I’m still struggling to understand how to use these features.

I’d like to briefly explain that the following information comes from my many years spent working in the aerospace industry for various companies and government entities. Not every project I was involved with was classified; some were merely your run of the mill, every day aircraft. While others were kept under an extreme manner of secrecy. It was not uncommon to be randomly taken, interrogated, and given poly graph tests.
It is my understanding now that the members of this site have developed fairly lofty expectations of those who choose to submit any information, and the bar is set high indeed regarding “proof.” Once again, I do not possess any photographs of any of the top secret craft I was involved with. I wish I did, however anyone who works in sensitive areas will agree taking pictures, or even attempting to bring in a camera is tantamount to treason. If caught, you would be lucky if all they did was terminate your position and adversely affect your reputation. The only so called “proof” I can offer, lies buried deep in my mind and has not been freely shared for some time now.

Of course, I have photographs of myself with various employers and dignitaries, and even some of my military days. I do not plan to submit these photographs, simply because the main reason I came to this website was so I could propose some ideas, offer my experiences with some sort of anonymity. If I were to do something like black out my face or alter the photos in any way, not only would I be destroying my own property, but I have no doubt some here would see that as a form of deception and would not believe it anyways. I have no idea how to edit photographs using a personal computer, although I know the computers of today are very capable of such tasks.

I would also like to reference my introductory post, I mentioned the firsthand experience of seeing craft, and technology which I could only explain as being “otherworldly.” As a pilot, I had occasions where myself and a colleague noticed an abnormal craft of some sort. I also heard many interesting stories from other pilots and servicemen during the WWII, and especially while working as a consultant for aerospace companies. I would like to reiterate, I have never seen what most would call an “extraterrestrial,” and although I am a firm believer in the distinct possibility of our planet experiencing visitations, I cannot and will not offer any evidence or stories that claim anything of this nature. I will start from the beginning and as I give details of various points in my life, I will attempt to incorporate the more interesting details into the timeline.

I was stationed on a “Yorktown” class carrier throughout much of the War. I was assigned as a radio operator on B-25’s and flew on many successful missions. At this time, many of us had witnessed strange lights at night, both in the sky, and in the sea. We would whisper about these things, but it was a subject the military did not want us to pay much heed to. It was discovered very early on, any pilot or operator who officially reported on such things was risking their rank, and reputation. We knew of the German’s producing advanced craft, in some cases surpassing our own US craft at the time. But, the Japanese were not as advanced. We began speculating that the things we had seen, as well as the objects reported by other squadrons must be some new German technology that they had given to the Japanese. One case that remains the most poignant in my mind from that period involved what some call “cigar shaped UFO’s.”

We had been flying for hours. Our task was a routine bombing run, and our payload had already been dropped. Without warning, we noticed a greenish blue glow, coming from the rear of our aircraft. We initially thought it had to be some strange atmospheric phenomenon, because all of our gauges were showing normal function, fuel levels, ruling out some issue with our aircraft. The glow persisted in color and intensity for roughly twenty minutes before we suddenly saw a gigantic black “cigar shaped” craft with what appeared to be some sort of blue/green propulsion system, and no visible windows or doors. This object proceeded to pass us faster than any known craft of the time, and once a great distance in front of us, proceeded to make a ninety degree nose-dive, straight into the ocean! We had no clue what this thing could have been, some rocket powered stealth blimp of some sort? We were all a little shaken up, but as we passed over the general area where the craft descended into the water, we saw no wreckage, or signs that anything for that matter had occurred. We agreed that we would keep this one to ourselves, for if this truly was some top secret US craft, we didn’t want to risk asking questions. We had all deduced that it couldn’t have been a malevolent foreign craft, because it did us no harm despite having all the time in the world and clearly being far more advanced than the B-25 we were in.

We had more than enough things to worry about in those days, dodging Japanese artillery as our chief concern. It wasn’t until years later, I would think back to those events with more wonder and speculation.
Stories persisted of strange objects. From what I gathered from the German’s (I came to know after the War through my work and travel) both sides of the War had experienced odd craft or atmospheric anomaly’s, both believing at the time it to be the new secret weapon of the enemy. I heard personally from men who were fighter pilots in the Luftwaffe that on multiple occasions, they encountered strange glowing orbs that would tail them, circle their craft and eventually leave them alone. These were described to me as being sort of ball lightning, with no definite physical body, but their actions gave off the sense that they were intelligent.

Right from the start, there was secrecy surrounding the flying saucer subject that seemed to be orchestrated by the government overseen by President Truman. Truman was in fact the President who setup structure of the present intelligence system, and made it a tool for use by future Presidents. In 1946 he set up the Central Intelligence Group, which became the Central Intelligence Agency in 1947. He was the first President in history to get a daily intelligence report (now know as the President Daily Briefing) to bring him up to date on the latest intelligence developments. In 1951, Truman created the Office of Current Intelligence, and in 1952 the National Security Agency.

After the War, I found it hard to find work. With so many GI’s returning at the same time, the work force was flooded with applicants. Keep in mind, the whole country had restructured to support the war effort, and every machine shop, auto manufacturer, ship builder, furniture factory, had been outfitted to crank out high volumes of munitions, weapons, armored vehicles and the like. I used what is commonly referred to as the GI Bill, to attend two universities. It was around this time that President Truman publically stated the existence of unidentified craft, and that his belief was they were not constructed by any power on Earth. This surprising and little known or talked about statement, coming directly from the most powerful office of the most powerful nation, reminded me of that night in the B-25, and led to many sleepless nights of pondering the notion and possibilities of beings from outer space.

Why did you post in Skunk Works?

President Truman gave General Landry instructions about reporting the flying saucer situation to him. "I was directed to report quarterly to the President after consulting with Central Intelligence people, as to whether or not any UFO incidents received by them could be considered as having any strategic threatening implications at all," stated Landry. "The report was to be made orally by me unless it was considered by intelligence to be so serious or alarming as to warrant a more detailed report in writing. During the four and one-half years in office there, all reports were made orally. Nothing of substance considered credible or threatening to the country was ever received from intelligence."

Upon completion of my education, I was able to finally establish myself and support my young wife by taking jobs as an outside consultant on various projects. I was fortunate enough to be part of the Skunk Works program at Lockheed, which had only recently made the jump into military applications after the success of the P-80 jet fighter. Due to my military background, I was cleared and given the assignment of a new reconnaissance aircraft, the world later knew this project as the U-2. I came late into the U-2 project, but was marveled by the available technology and vast increase in aerodynamics in comparison to the aircraft we had during the War.
The U-2 was a marvelous aircraft, but we immediately started R&D on several new designs for an even faster and higher flying spy plane. Through trial and error, we eventually had the YF-12 Interceptor, which evolved into what we now call the SR-71 Blackbird. I know that “officially” the Blackbird was supposed to have flown its first successful flight in 1964. This was not the case, as we had been flying the Blackbird for several years, and to my understanding had already been using it successfully for intelligence gathering. We had a great team of men, and had some of the brightest German minds working alongside us.

One of the original test pilots of the Blackbird, a man by the name of Robert Gilliland became a close friend and associate of mine. He claimed on several accounts to have witnessed strange objects that were able to outmaneuver him and were clearly much faster than the Blackbird which was among the fastest craft available. Another of the Blackbird test pilots, a man by the name of Lt.Col Anthony Bevaqua (not sure if that is the correct spelling) became a trusted colleague and associate. We both had long commutes and would typically have dinner while waiting for traffic to die down. One night, over dinner this man went into great detail over an event he had just experienced while flying the Blackbird at an extreme altitude. He said he noticed what to him looked like an oblong, black object, which although a ways off, was clearly an object of some magnitude. I described the “cigar shaped” object I had seen years prior, and he said my description sounded eerily similar to what he saw, except in my case the object had gone into the ocean, his object was higher than him, and he was at over 60,000 feet at the time. These are just a few of the men who I came in contact with who had a resume a mile long, were extremely well respected, but had incredible stories.

My career took me all over the planet, and one of my most frequented locations was Germany. While in Germany, I was fortunate enough to meet a gentleman by the name of Gordon Cooper. He and I had similar interests, and hit it off so to speak. He became a trusted friend and colleague, we went on to work on various projects together years later in California. Sadly he suffered from Alzheimer’s, and although it seems like only yesterday I was speaking with him, his death was almost a decade ago. Gordon was another man who astounded me with his skills as a pilot, his commitment to duty, and his overall demeanor.

Leroy Gordon Cooper, Jr. (March 6, 1927 – October 4, 2004), also known as Gordon Cooper, was an American aeronautical engineer, test pilot and NASA astronaut. Cooper was one of the seven original astronauts in Project Mercury, the first manned space effort by the United States. He was the first American to sleep in orbit, flew the longest spaceflight of the Mercury project, and was the last American to be launched alone into Earth orbit and conduct an entire solo orbital mission. Later he also participated in the Gemini project.

According to his accounts, Cooper realized that these men, who on a regular basis have seen experimental aircraft flying and landing around them as part of their job of filming those aircraft, were clearly worked up and unnerved. They explained how the saucer hovered over them, landed 50 yards away from them using three extended landing gears and then took off as they approached for a closer look. Being photographers with cameras in hand, they of course shot images with 35mm and 4-by-5 still cameras as well as motion film. There was a special Pentagon number to call to report incidents like this. He called and it immediately went up the chain of command until he was instructed by a general to have the film developed (but to make no prints of it) and send it right away in a locked courier pouch. As he had not been instructed to not look at the negatives before sending them, he did. He said the quality of the photography was excellent as would be expected from the experienced photographers who took them. What he saw was exactly what they had described to him. He did not see the movie film before everything was sent away. He expected that there would be a follow up investigation since an aircraft of unknown origin had landed in a highly classified military installation, but nothing was ever said of the incident again. He was never able to track down what happened to those photos. He assumed that they ended up going to the Air Force's official UFO investigation, Project Blue Book, which was based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

I knew Gordon for many years on a professional level before he became comfortable enough to share with me his take on all the UFO business. I was hardly surprised to hear that he had multiple encounters, by that time in my career, I had heard dozens of stories from pilots of varying backgrounds, levels, and ethnicities.

However, what Gordon believed was much more in depth than the usual run of the mill flying saucer sighting. He claimed to have had first hand experience with seeing UFO’s in the air, landing, and re-entering the atmosphere. He claimed there was an international cover up taking place, and the US government (among others) knew far more about these UFO’s than they let on. I had the utmost respect for this man, he was a highly respected pilot, astronaut, and engineer. But these claims were almost too fantastic to believe. I respectfully engaged him in further conversation regarding these unknown objects for years, always keeping a skeptical attitude. I had a funny feeling he was pulling my leg, and took me for a gullible, yet conservatively interested colleague.

Eventually, other colleagues corroborated his story, and I took the man at his word. After all, this wasn’t some anti-government conspiracy nut, this was a man who was entrusted with matters of national security on the highest levels. I believe he went on to write a book about his experiences, which I never took the time to read, mostly because he told me everything first hand. I do believe many on this website would find it highly believable, and interesting at the very least.

Gordon and his stories of UFO’s are somewhat popular I’d assume, and I’m sure many of you were already familiar with this man and his experiences.

He was told to send the pictures straight on to the Pentagon, and to not look at them. He freely admitted he couldn’t help but look at them, and what he saw amazed him. This man had been in space, and had flown some of the most incredible aircraft ever designed; I imagine it would take something extraordinary to get his attention. What others don’t know, what I don’t think he would have been naïve enough to include in his book, is not only did he fail to follow orders as instructed, but he took his own photographs of the pictures before sending them on.

I don’t imagine many others know this, but these pictures (which he developed himself, fearing they would find out) changed him. For the rest of his life he maintained the government knew more than they let on. And we developed many of our own theories over the years. Once Project Bluebook was disbanded, and the government came out with an official statement something along the lines of “we’re not in the business of investigating UFO’s,” we were all pretty shocked. How could the government be so blatant about its deception of something so powerful?

Somehow, it worked. Through disinformation campaigns, and making the UFO phenomenon into a general mockery, it all but became something you did not want to get caught talking about. This was especially true the more you were trusted with classified projects. Soon, no one would risk speaking out about the things they were seeing. The things we all knew were out there.

It was around this period, in the early 70’s in which I saw the first piece of technology which made you stop and scratch your head. I had been working on classified projects for almost two decades at this point in my career, and came to the realization that the further up the ladder you’re allowed, the deeper into the rabbit hole you get. I understand there are many servicemen, government employees, and others who work in the private sector are active on this website. I’m sure they will all agree, and will have similar accounts, if they’ve worked on classified projects.

I will never forget the day I was escorted into an elevator, with a blind fold on. I had been bussed in from a local airport, and the bus we were transported in had blacked out windows. We had no clue where we were, or where we were going. The only thing we were allowed to bring in was our lunch, and even that was painstakingly searched through for bugs, or cameras, or any espionage style device. I eventually got used to having my sandwiches torn apart. This was the height of the Cold War, and tensions were running high. Several men I worked with were caught selling secrets to the Soviets. They were never heard from again, and never made any news.

The high profile so called “spy’s” of the day were mostly propaganda tools. There were many more dissenters than the government cared to inform the people of. They took a few and sent a message to many.

Getting back to what I had seen, I was escorted blindfolded down an elevator of some sort. I cannot describe it to you, because I never saw it. However, I knew we were going deep underground. There is a very distinct feeling you have when falling at a rapid rate of speed, and as a pilot I was much more sensitive to the motion. I cannot say how far down we went but it was completely silent and carried on for a good twenty seconds or so. And this was not your average department store elevator.

Once I was allowed to exit the elevator and remove my blindfold, I was mesmerized. The craft that was sitting in front of me, and the people working on its various parts were far, far more advanced than anything I had seen in my years working with the Lockheed “Skunkworks Program” or Boeing’s “Phantom Works” program. What I saw was an air craft of incredible design. It clearly was more advanced than anything I had known to be in existence, and far more superior than anything I had ever laid my hands on. This craft, looked to be roughly seventy five feet in diameter, and had the sheen of some sort of stainless steel, yet the actual composition was more like a light weight carbon fiber.

I had no idea of what was going on, and it was a rough awakening of what we really are capable of. To say I was in shock, was to put it lightly. As a pilot, and an engineer, I couldn’t help but marvel at the design. I was told unofficially, that this was a recovered alien craft, and we were backwards engineer it. Officially, I was told this was simply a state of the art aircraft, designed and built as a joint venture between Lockheed and Boeing, of course with government funding.

I cannot express in words the way you feel when you come upon something that seems not only so alien to everything you have come to believe and expect, but also blows you away by the sheer power and intelligence it would take to even dream up such a thing. I have watched, with my grandchildren, videos of Philip Corso, and Robert Lazar that certainly piqued my interest. But what was most disturbing to me about these men, is that they claim to “blow the whistle” so to speak on top secret government projects, and seemingly suffer nothing but fame and fortune. As I have previously stated, the men I knew who disclosed sensitive information were silenced. For Good.

This leads me to believe that maybe these men did see the things they saw, but clearly they are speaking out because they are allowed to. No one is untouchable in this world. Even my old friend Gordon, after writing his book, and speaking extensively with people about his theory on UFO’s and the government cover-up, he was kidnapped, interrogated, and told the only reason he was still alive “was because he had been an asset to the country, and still had friends in high places.” He was told, “if he couldn’t shut himself up and forget all this UFO nonsense, he would be made to forget.” He told me this many times. Especially in his later days when he was suffering, through the last torturous stages of Alzheimer’s. He believed to the day he died, that his Alzheimer’s was not a coincidence.

I have many more stories I would like to share, and I promise this is only the beginning. But, please respect the fact that I am of age, and do suffer from health afflictions. This submission took me literally three days of expending all of my energy on this task. My grandchildren were kind enough to assist with the citations, references, and over all organization of my submittal.
Thank you kindly for your time.
Truly Yrs,
Alonzo Typer

I'm sorry sir but I think skunk works is for theories that smell bad and probably aren't true...maybe I don't understand it right.

Mr. Typer, If you were on a Yorktown class carrier most of the war as you state in this quote. How is it that a navy man was assigned as a radio operator in a B-25 which was an Army Air Force plane? As far as I know the only B25's that ever flew off a carrier were the Doolittle raiders. As a student of WWII I would like to request a clarification of how this happened please.

Very detailed post to say the least. The SR-71 Blackbird was developed back in the 50's but did not come into the public light until decades later. I firmly believe that we have developed aircraft that are many decades ahead of what we know to be the standard today. I know for sure that D.U.M.B do exsist, and the american people are being kept in the dark about their intended purposes. Is it alien technology? I don't know? But I do know that our government lies to us on a daily basis via MSM, and other controlled sources. I do however think that the more people challenge the status quo, more will be revealed in a shorter time. We are pawns on their chessboard, and they move us at will. They assimilate every post on this site, and others like it and make assessments of individual users. Make no mistake, they know everyone of us, and they have been among us where we work, worship, and play. If you think they have not, you are sadly mistaken. Never underestimate your enemy. Remember the saying, keep your friends close to you, but keep your enemies closer. I know I digressed a bit and I apologize. I believe your post is plausible and you seem sincere, but then again, you never know what camp someone is in, do you?

Alonzo Typer,

First and foremost, I owe you an apology. There is no way that I believed that you would be back, I was wrong.

That is a very interesting story. I did not believe that you were who you said you were, again, it appears I was wrong. And once again, please accept my apologies.

Thank you for sharing this fascinating part of your life, I certainly am looking forward to more !

But just to let you know, there are some members here that will question your Cooper story.

This time, it won't be me. Thank you for choosing ATS to share your experiences !!!

You are correct, I was stationed on a Yorktown class for much of the War, but for the last year or so I did take part in the "Doolittle Raids" as you call it. You are very astute, and it is very humbling to be one who experienced the War, yet was so long ago, it is hard to set about stating every last detail

In my attempt to summarize the details leading up to the more "interesting" stories, I clearly was not detailed enough. I could write a book on the War alone, but in this submission I was trying to get straight to the point. I know many of you are looking for any reason not to believe me, and I understand your skepticism

There was only ONE raid.

Colonel Richard E. Cole, copilot of aircraft #1
Major Thomas C. Griffin, navigator of aircraft #9
Lieutenant Colonel Robert L. Hite, copilot of aircraft #16
Major Edward Joseph Saylor, engineer of aircraft #15
Staff Sergeant David J. Thatcher, gunner of aircraft #7

So, Typer...you are one of these men? They are the last survivors of the Doolittle Raid. Glad we could narrow it down.

Tell me, what year is on that Cognac bottle?
