The topic of a potential mutiny in the Vatican has already come up on ATS.

In a Yahoo article discussing the matter, it brings up enough information to suggest that sources within the Vatican may be trying to fulfill the Prophecy of St. Malachy.

It mentions the reports of assassination plans against Pope Benedict and the desire to make the next Pope be an Italian.

ITALIAN POPE?

Last week, an Italian newspaper that has published some of the leaks ran a bizarre internal Vatican memo that involved one cardinal complaining about another cardinal who spoke about a possible assassination attempt against the pope within 12 months and openly speculated on who the next pope should be.

Bertone's detractors say he has packed the Curia with Italian friends. Some see an attempt to influence the election of the next pope and increase the chances that the papacy returns to Italy after two successive non-Italian popes who have broken what had been an Italian monopoly for over 450 years.

If 2012 is when it all ends, or at least the beginning of the end, and assuming that the prophecy is true, things could be unfolding in the Vatican very quickly. Perhaps these event coming to light will force inside conspirators to rush their plans into action.

If it happens, it makes one wonder. Do events unfold because they are predicted? Or, are the events that may unfold simply destiny?

You make such an interesting point here, because I have often considered the same thing. It does seem as though the occultists are actively trying to see prophecy fulfilled, whether that is for the satisfaction of their own belief systems (the more likely) or part of the grand deception (another possibility), I always marvel at this fact. So, God says things will happen in a certain way, and then insane people run forth and make that happen through great effort. Prophecy of God is then fulfilled through man. So strange when you think about it. I'm glad to see someone else saw it like this.

As for the last Pope...well, we're waiting on Peter the Roman. I for one think that this will be followed shortly after by the destruction of the Dome of the Rock and the rebuilding of Soloman's Temple upon the Temple Mount. Any thoughts??? Peace...

I recently read a post by DutchBigBoy, and said the next pope would take the name Pius, but he would be from Italy. I had not heard of this before. It didn't provide a source.

Considering the state of the world and the vast coinciding 2012 and doomsday prophecies, I think that the Malachy prophecy is real. I can understand some in the church trying to ensure it does come to pass so that it will reenforce the claim that it is the one true religion. During a time of global crisis, having the backing of a prophecy might get plenty of new followers.

talk about self fulfulling prophecy. What's next the rise of "the antichrist" and takeover over of the world? Not gonna happen here with all the guns.

Why does anyone have to assasinate the Pope? That old bag of bones is going to keel over any day and then Peter the Roman will take his place. Benedict the 16th is supposed to be "prophecied" to be the second to the last Pope. I don't really see how it is a legit prophecy though because the Popes get renamed when they become the pontif to whatever name is next on the list in the prophecy. Seems like a rigged prophecy if you ask me, almost like going to play craps at a casino knowing ahead of time youre going to lose your ass and then your soul.

Just a quick clarification. The popes haven't taken the names of the prophecised popes. Generally, the popes can be identified or linked to the prophecy in some way. The previous pope, John Paul II, was linked with the prophecy because he was born on the day of a solar eclipse, and the prophecy listed him as "From the labor of the sun."

the last Pope according to the prophesy is peter the roman.

it could be taken to be that the last Pope will be italian. there hasn't been an italian pope for over 30 years.

here is a list of cardinal electors that participated in the election of Pope Benedict and are italian:

Ennio Antonelli, Archbishop of Florence
Giacomo Biffi, Archbishop Emeritus of Bologna
Tarcisio Bertone, SDB, Archbishop of Genoa
Marco Cé, Patriarch Emeritus of Venice
Salvatore De Giorgi, Archbishop of Palermo
Michele Giordano, Archbishop of Naples
Carlo Maria Martini, SJ, Archbishop Emeritus of Milan
Severino Poletto, Archbishop of Turin
Camillo Ruini, Vicar General of Rome
Angelo Scola, Patriarch of Venice
Dionigi Tettamanzi, Archbishop of Milan

one of them could be peter the roman.

there is only one cardinal that is eligible to be Pope that is named peter.

his name is peter erdo. he was born in budapest, hungary. during the time of St.Peter, hungary was part of the roman empire.

so he could be called the peter the roman.

another interesting fact is that cardinal peter erdo is sympathetic and concerned about the economic conditions of the roma people (gypsies), their well being and how they could be converted.

what if the prophesy is not peter the roman, but peter the romani/roma, or peter the gypsy, because of his concern of them.

here is a picture of him. he is the second youngest cardinal elector.

here is his coat of arms.

i think coat of arms can hold the secrets of who peter the roman will be.

the latin transcription reads: intio non erat nisi gratia.

google translates it as: 'was only the beginning of' or 'but that was only by grace.'

another translates it to: 'to announce not was if not in order to.'

notre dame translation, has non also being nonae, which means the 5 day of all the months, except march, may, july and october when it is the 7th day.

his coat of arms also has the sun and the moon. the beginning of the day and the end of the day. it is also dark.

there is also a saying about popes "when they elect a fat one, the next one will be skinny."
pope benedict is one of the oldest popes in recent memory, peter erdo would be one of the youngest.

Did you notice in his coat of arms the star to the left and moon to the right? Thats the symbol of Islam.....the star and crescent moon. Thats also the symbol for Sin of Sinai, the moongod married to the sungoddess. That symbol is seen in the babylonian and sumerian polytheist religions because they are the same religion the gods just have different names, just like how the greek and roman gods are the same gods but just have different names.

That is an interesting observation. I don't think that any connection to Islam is related to the prophecy though. Of course, in a seemingly apocalyptic situation, I could see them trying to take advantage of ever trivial thing to get support and followers.

interesting to say the least. my opinion on predictions and prophecy is this, in our world we have many variables with so many doing so much, but over all i think the possibilities can begin to lean in one direction or another. take WW3, a year ago i would not have thought that probability was great, but today it's looking like it may go that way.

The Catholic Church in Italy is facing an $800 million tax bill PER YEAR.

If the Italian government has the guts to charge the Catholics taxes, perhaps there is hope that here in North America the free ride for these political organisations will end.

They are all corrupt, dishonest, above the law and do not pay their fair share. Time for it to stop.

Well, according to your own link in the OP, the prophesies are a forgery...

Spanish writer father Benito Jerónimo Feijóo wrote in his Teatro Crítico Universal (1724–1739), in an entry called Purported prophecies, that the ones by Saint Malachy's were a shameful forgery, claiming that they were created ad hoc during the 16th century. As a proof, he offers an accurate fact: that the first time the prophecy is mentioned is on a handwritten account by patriarch Alfonso Chacón (a.k.a Alphonsus Ciacconus, 1540–1599) in 1590 (this account would be later published, in 1595, by the abovementioned historian Arnold de Wyon)

TBH, this should come as no great suprise, as that is nearly always the case with prophesies of every denomination.

They haven't been proven to be a forgery. It has only been suggested. If it is a forgery, then it goes back to my opening suggestion about the Vatican trying to fulfill the prophecy, since many popes, if not all, have matched in some way the list.

sure the Malachy list of Popes & their 'Mottos' seem to be fufilled

but many connections really strain one's credibility... like the "Labors of the Sun' attributed to John-Paul 6th
because he was born during a minor eclipse of the Sun in the lower part of Africa
and that he was finally laid to rest on another eclipse of the Sun (some many days after his death & viewing period just to have the symbology of the Sun as being significant during his reign as Pope)

it is contrived and marginal at best, the Mottos assigned each Pope being 'proven accurate' (by the vatican publicists)

then we have the Vaticans Apostolic Pope in direct contention with the Eastern Orthodox Patriarch...
just who is the real leader of Christian believers
see:

The patriarch in Constantinople is analogous to the pope in that he represents the Eastern Orthodox Church to the world,

now, what about this line of thought...
considering a Peter the Roman... rather than a Peter the Italian or a Peter of the Vatican which would make sense....
he is called Peter (the Rock) Roman which (Rome) completely surrounds the State of Vatican, an autonomous country since 1929...

so maybe perhaps the St Malachy was telling the future generation that Pope Rockey would not even be from the Vatican Church...

he will be an outsider... maybe even the Orthodox Patriarch
as the Eastern and Western Church of Christianity unite at this end-of-age in 2012 AD

a investigation might be in order to identify a personage with a name that means
'Peter' =Rock/Mineral/Silicon...mountain, basalt... or something similar

Doesn't the prophecy kinda have to happen now? How much credibility does the church lose if it doesn't? It's not like Jesus gave us the pope prophecy list but still, this is a saint we're talking about.

There is glaring flaw in the Pope Prophecy. Malacy, the Archbishop from Ireland, who had the papal vision named only 111 popes. His last pope pertained to the 'Glory of the Olive', which happens to be Benedict XVI, who is in office at present. This error gets passed on and repeated and is now considered a fact. The 112th pope listed, Peter the Roman, was added to the list 419 years after Malacy made his list based on a vision he had while visiting the Vatican in 1138. An order of Benedictine monks added Peter the Roman to give the story a happier ending. Malacy predicted total destruction of the holy city and the church itself. The Benedictine's version has the church fleeing, and later rebuilding.

This information is out there if one is persistant enough to dig it up. An interesting aside: Edgar Cayce, aka The Sleeping Prophet, also predicted the Benedict XVI will be the last pope. So for those of you who are waiting for Peter the Roman, you may have quite a wait.

I would just like to Quote ATS Member F*CKYOUNWO from the thread on the PApal Resignation on page 10:

Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson (born 11 October 1948) fits all the prophecies and all the standing procedures for being the next Pope.

THE TALKS ABOUT CHOOSING HIM HAS ALREADY STARTED!

- As he studied in Rome, he ALREADY HAS THE NICKNAME of "Peter The Roman" in his native village.- He is from Ghana - There is great pressure in the Catholic Church to have a 3rd world Pope.

- Anoher prophecy states that the last Pope will be "the son of a Turk" - His name is literally "Turkon"

- A young Pope is always follwed by an old one and vice versa. So, the next should be young. Turkson is the second youngest Cardianl.

- Standing procedure in the Catholic Chrch is to have Popes from countries that lack political, economic and military power. Who the hell could be challenged by Ghana?

- Turkson is close to the last two Popes' doctrinal factions.

- Turkson and Ghana is utterly free from all the child molesting allegations. When thugs are regularly hacking up your parishioners and priests with machettes and burning your churches down, one does not tend to think about that sort of thing! - SAME BORNDATE AS MABUS (NOSTRADAMUS PROPHECY, en.wikipedia.org...)

Certainly speaks for itself and adds fuel to the fire....

Crazy Son!!!!!!!!!!
