How do you think the U.S. or U.K. will be like in 1-2 decades?

Personally when I watched the movie "Repo Men" I think they made a good impression of what the future might hold... more and more thugs acting as "repo men" for almost anything to make a buck... along with more and more people not being able to pay for the things they buy because of EXTEREMELY HIGH APR's on "luxuries or medicines" that they can't pay in full for. As well as more and more college graduates moving back into their parents homes "like me" because they chose the wrong major believing that it was fully possibble to get into med/pharm or whatever grad school... When I was touring a pharmacy school I decided that I wasn't even going to try their admissions process because half of them are asians, I'm not being racist because I know from first hand. One of my best friends is Vietmanese and her parents went to hawaii on a boat after they fought for the communist in N.V. yet they got pregrant with my friend forcing her to become a citizen as well as forcing her to get perfect grades... she's now in pharmacy school and she partied as much as I did in college... I think it's wrong that these freakin anchor babies get all the benefits that we do especially when they're PARENTS AND UNCLES THAT NOW LIVE IN THE US KILLED AMERICAN SOLDIERS!!! I MEAN WTF??

Also the fact that besides having a degree in various majors and minors you must get a million different licenses for your job. # I'm a registered phlebotomist "I can hit a vein in anybody" but I only need it to get my 500 hours of med experience to finish up the application process for grad school. NOBODY TOLD ME HOW #ING HARD IT WOULD GET. I think things are just going to get worse and worse like in Back to the Future or something lol. What do you guys think?

The US will not exist in it's current form. We WILL be a dictatorship. I am unsure whether it will be a neo-marxist one or a national socialist one. Parts of the current US may break off when that happens.

I am from the UK - and live in a pretty populated Muslim area, and guess what?...they're not all terrorist! brrrr! scary that aint it. Live the life before you dictate on something you know nothing about.

The UK and the US are different nations with different economies, politics and traditions so they may take different paths.

I am optimistic about the future. I expect both nations will be richer and both nations will be more democratic and functional.

If the trends continue as is, there will be less conflict and poverty globally. Less dictators and autocracies too, which is good.

A better question would be what will happen to the autocracies of e.g. China, Russia and Iran.

My realistic prediction of the US in 10 years;

It will look pretty much the same, except everything will look a little more like Detroit.

I think the UK will be very different.

I think Scotland will go it's own way, separate from the rest. Northern Ireland will self govern for a time then amalgamate with the Irish Republic. England & Wales will stay together. Queen Elisabeth will pass. On the accession of her son, some Commonwealth countries (including Scotland) will quietly drop the monarchical system. England & Wales will abandon nuclear weapons as too costly. Colonial possessions, such as the îles Malouines, will pass to others to maintain.

The star will start to fade on the USA. The Spanish language and ethnicity will become more prominent, eventually whites will be outnumbered by blacks, hispanics, asians. Those divisions will be exaggerated by geography, the South will resist further immigration. The entitlement culture will expand, with more and more people expecting more from others, while they contribute nothing to the pot themselves. USA influence in the world will wax and wane, the current economic woes will not shift in this generation. Unjustified wars will continue to be fought. That shining city on the hill will just be a pale shadow in the twilight.

It is not a rosy future for either, I don't think.

When I picture the America of the future, Blade Runner comes to mind.

I see similar things in the UK's future as well.

It's impossible to tell, a single event could drasticaly change the path very quickly. For the UK (where i'm from), I recon that Scotland would have re-joined the UK after a brief spell of independace. Everything will be connected to the Internet and done online. Politics will also be done mostly online, apart from important issues that arise and elections. High street shops will become rare, due to the cost of keeping the buildings open. Many business's will run online, and instead of getting your producs from shops, you will order online and it will be sent from a distrabution warehouse.
Security will mix with genetics, for an example, going through airport security will require you to give them a drop of blood to test your identity. Due to most things being done online, and the rising costs of fule, many people will no longer need to drive as much as they do now, and the government will get their money from some sort of internet tax, to compensate the loss's of less people driving.
We will no longer be part of the European trade union, for a few years or forever, depending on the economic situation. I also believe that western nations will run on a Cyber Economy, just as fake as the one in place now, but with a different name and easily controlled by the elite.

This is just the UK if things go on the same path, disregarding a world war, because it is impossible to think of what the outcome would mean for us, because its impossible to even consider severabl outcomes.

As for the US, I really don't know because I have never been before, but what I think could possibly happen is the split of some states from the US. I believe that certain states would prefer to rule themselves as a complete country, other than a state that is dictated by DC. The US power and influence over the world will drasticaly fade, as well as the EU, to make room for China and Russia, and even the possibility of the Middle East joining together to form another super power. I believe that like the UK, the US will also have a Cyber Economy, and will be alot more connected to the internet.

This is just how I would see things, disregarding the middle east, as there are so many game changes going on right now, it is impossible to make a solid prediction. But if nothing big happens, no more new big wars, then this is how I see the future.

The US is going to be an extension of China.

Unless something changes, this will be a reality.

Take the movies Idiocracy, Minority Report, 1984, and put em together. oh and a visible minority female at the helm of both states

That was a pretty good prediction for the UK, if we stay on this current path I was going to post but you pretty much summed it for me buddy

The usa and uk will be just like the ussr is today.

I honestly think it will be like Nazi Germany....and worse since they at least had opposition.
