Schiphol airport evacuated due to bomb thread

www.bbc.co.uk

A military police spokesman told Reuters news agency the two main international terminals, 1 and 2, had been evacuated.

Police were investigating the threat, he said. No flights have been affected by the evacuation so far, reports the BBC's Anna Holligan in The Hague.

Schiphol is one of Europe's busiest airports.

Some reports say the evacuation was sparked by a man claiming to have a bomb in an airport toilet.

Here is also a link in Dutch
www.telegraaf.nl...

Concerning, I travel through Schiphol daily on my way to work. Both trains and planes go through, but hopefully it turns out this persn has made a false claim and there are no bombs. Story is still developing.

Nothing's going to happen.
Nothing ever happens in the Netherlands.

Trust me, I'm Dutch.

It's just another confused person screaming for attention while trapping himself on the toilet.

Still no chances are taken. Seems like collegues are already there to handle the situation.

It doesn't say when this happened - I flew into schiphol this morning, and caught a train around 9am and there was no sign of any problems then...

I hope everyone is okay and remains that way.

By the by, the thread headline kinda sounds like a bomb threat was left on an internet forum.

Sometimes these incidents can turn out to be a lot worse than first thought so its important we don't get cynical. There is a real threat of terrorism not only in specific countries but around the world and every report of terrorist activity has to be taken seriously, dealt with and if necessary it could end up with a possible stand-off with armed police. These idiots who make false bomb threats are very lucky to be alive. If that man said he had a bomb and was outside when armed police turned up he was fortunate he wasn't shot.
