Tim Thomas is a <Moron.

Alright I know what your thinking, this guy must be a left wing liberal nut job. Sadly for the tea party members frequenting the site and the christians I am not. I am an independent and also a confirmed catholic. That being said I'm not the most religious man at all, I believe more in good will to others then anything else. But from my point of view not only is Tim Thomas a moron but he is also very unintelligent, here are my reasons please read through the whole set before posting a reply... Thanks.

1. I'll start with Tim refrencing the quote from Martin Niemöller, "First they came for the Jews". To begin Martin was a national conservative and a supporter of Hitler to get into power, anyone with any historical sense knows this and therefor although his quote is famous it is also tainted because he was a nazi sympathizer. Martin was perfectly fine with Hitler rounding up the Jews, heck he even wrote comments about them that many would see as being antisemitic. He only had a problem with Hitler's ways when he started to round up the protestants...Then killing the Jews and everyone else was a problem, hence his famous quote.

2. Medicaid. Tim Thomas like every other millionaire seems to have a problem with "socialist" medicare. Easy to have a problem with this when you make enough money to afford just about any insurance policy out there. In reference Canada's system has about a 93% approval rate with about 5% of canada's citizens not being able to get the health care they need. The United States however has about 40% of Americans who don't have health insurance or can't afford it. The difference being that everyone in Canada can get some form of health insurance and again the approval rate is overwhelming. So people like Mr. Thomas may have a problem with this but only because they "can", strike 2 Tim.

3. Contraception. Last survey taken 75% of catholics/christians are for the contraception bill President Obama and Congress Passed. Sadly they had to doctor the bill a bit to "concede" to these religious right wing radicals, although every healthcare provider will still HAVE to provide their members with access to it. In this day in age Planned Parenthood is a step in the right direction and anyone who thinks like this isn't just dillusion but they are also hurting progress in this country. More pre-teen mothers equals a higher welfare rate and higher state medicaid bills, but I'm sure Tim wouldn't mind forking over the extra 3 billion a year to provide this care, if himself and the tea party would I have no problem with their stance.

4. Not going to the White House. Tim is one of two americans on the Bruins team, regardless of political stance he should have shown support to his fans and country by going to the white house. Although Obama is president it doesn't mean he owns the place, many other presidents have been in those halls as well and being such an influencial character in the TP movement he could have taken the high road and chose to show support of working to a higher common goal rather then working towards further segregation in America. Also if he actually has political views against the current regime why miss the opportunity to speak out to the people that matter about them? Nevermind the fact that this "is" a distraction to his team because now they have to answer questions as to why Tim has a problem going to the WH, thus take the conversation away from hockey and into politics. Not a coincidence their 3-4 against a majority of below .500 teams since then.

5. Quoting Reagan: “I’m convinced that today the majority of Americans want what those first Americans wanted: A better life for themselves and their children; a minimum of government authority. Very simply, they want to be left alone in peace and safety to take care of the family by earning an honest dollar and putting away some savings. This may not sound too exciting, but there is something magnificent about it. On the farm, on the street corner, in the factory and in the kitchen, millions of us ask nothing more, but certainly nothing less than to live our own lives according to our values — at peace with ourselves, our neighbors and the world.” Again Tim is a millionaire, not the best quote for someone that makes a ton of cash. Also Reagan lifted the debt ceiling higher then any other president in history, again not a great guy to quote at this point and time.

6. Tim Thomas's avoidance of answering questions on the air is yet another distraction to his team, I know you'll say here that Tim Thomas should be able to have his own beliefs and say what he pleases. But I'd like to remind all of you that in the eyes of all Americans he is a Hockey Player first and a "person" second, meaning that he is using his stance as a athlete to further his political views. Because lets be honest if he didn't win the Stanley Cup last year and didn't win over the hearts of millions of Americans he wouldn't even be in the spotlight. He reminds me of a guy that talks # under his breath then when someone says to him, "What'd you say?", He says, "O nothing I must've sneezed.".

Clearly he doesn't want to be trashed on the main stage and maybe he knows how truely unintelligent alot of his jargon actually is. I mean would you want to speak out if you could be shred to bits? I think not. But mainly I think this guy is just what I started the thread off by saying... a moron. Not the smartest man and clearly someone that should stick to blocking pucks with his face and leave the talking to the adults.

"I choose to inact my right to remain silent and talk about my political views on a private venue, on my own time." Thats why he went right on facebook and posted again... Really private tim, really private. I think he should also change his page from saying "athlete", to something much more catchy, like "Tea Party Supporter".

Re-educate him until he thinks more like you do, for "his own good"?

No but when your being payed millions by a team, you travel with that team where ever they go. To say your not going somewhere with them because of political beliefs when your still accepting a paycheck is pretty low brow in my book.

Tim should keep his mouth shut and stick top what he does best- stopping pucks.

I mean really - this is what we say if he were being vocal with support for Obama or liberal ideas, right?

It would have required substantial testicular fortitude for Tim to actually go to the White House, shake the President's hand, and tell him in person that he didn't agree with his policies...

but instead, he had to take the spotlight off the team and redirect it upon himself.

So childish and selfish.

The moment anyone of stature in the realm of entertainment starts talking about their views, isn't it time to tune them out? It isn't like he has a PhD in anything other than having a good team in front of him to make his job easier...

If he did have any guts he'd've not started on the subject than pull the punk move of saying "I don't want to talk about it" while avoiding a chance to speak to the man and then run his yap about it on his FB page w/o talking to the man. Seems like his brains and the puck's brains are about the same?

Can't wait to see them fold in the playoffs this year like they did 2 years ago... up 3-0 and lose the series 4-3.
