NDAA is a direct assault on the 2nd amendment..................... Oh wait, I am a threat I own a gun, oh wait I am even more of a threat I know how to use one because of my government training.
Well cryin out loud I am just a lethal weapon, trained to kill with and without a weapon. Should you take it away?
Or should I train others? How to shoot and other wise?

Yes, pass your knowledge on.

I got my wife an airsoft pistol a few years ago. I helped her with sight picture, hold, trigger pull....etc (11 years military police).
Now she is a damn good shot with my 10mm. (although it is a bit heavy for her)

All this talk about Obama trying to take away guns - if there's one topic that Obama has NEVER talked about, it's firearms. Even when Gabby Gifford was shot and nearly killed. Obama has NEVER indicated a policy toward gun legislation. The NRA isn't just reading tea leaves, it's imagining the tea leaves are there.

That's not entirely accurate. During the '08 campaign, Obama did, in fact, speak in general terms of passing additional 'common sense' gun restrictions. Now that's not much taken alone, but a month after he was inaugurated, his Attorney General, Eric Holder, flatly stated that they wanted a new assault weapons ban. To my knowledge, Obama never refuted that statement, and coming from a senior administration official, we must consider that to be their official policy until stated otherwise.

As much as it pains me to do so, I have to give Nancy Pelosi a little credit here. She immediately flushed that whole idea down the toilet within days of Holder making that suggestion. While I have little doubt that she would like to re-institute the ban if she could, she's also smart enough to realize what it would do to the re-election chances of the Democrats in Congress, many of whom still remember how devastating the '94 ban was to the Democratic party for nearly a decade afterward.

As for this statement from the NRA, well, I think this administration is pretty damn stupid, but even I don't think they're stupid enough to attempt a full firearms ban, even if deep down they might want one.

Like I said, all you guys are given us is second hand reports about what Obama plans to do in the future. The fact is that he is not doing anything in terms of legislation to take away your rights.

Kenrichaed,

To correct your statement: A general definition of the information I have posted previously, which I cut and pasted from the actual newspapers articles would be considered as primary sources not 'second hand reports', i.e. “primary sources are those closest to an event, such as diaries and ‘first-hand’ newspaper and magazine accounts.”

Anyone interested or involved in the protection of Second Amendment rights knows any President, including Mr. Obama has only to turn to one of the dozens of anti-gun groups and internally the supporters and proponents i.e. legislators who already have and continue regularly to introduce anti-gun and now anti-second amendment legislation.

Mr. Obama is however a smart man and knows his agenda is difficult to achieve given the protection of the NRA and individual citizens who closely monitor and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Everyone knows a President he surrounds himself with people who agree to and support his opinions and especially seeks those who have the ‘connections’, the financial support, the experience and the knowledge to further his agenda.

I continue to repost the following which is a ‘primary source’.

Over a barrel? Meet White House gun policy adviser Steve Croley
www.washingtonpost.com...
On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial “large magazines.” Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, “to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda,” she said.
“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”
In the meeting, she said, Obama discussed how records get into the system and what can be done about firearms retailers. Her husband specifically brought up the proposed ban on large magazine clips, and she noted that even former vice president Dick Cheney had suggested that some restrictions on the clips might make sense.
“He just laughed,” Sarah Brady said approvingly of the president. Both she and her husband, she emphasized, had absolute confidence that the president was committed to regulation.

The President made a special trip to tell Sarah Brady that, and I paraphrase from his above quoted comments, ‘I just want you to know we are working on it; we have to go through a few processes, but under the radar. “He just laughed” Sarah Brady quotes.

It takes no imagination and only the slightest bit of fair and balanced thinking in the reading of the ‘primary source’ information shown above, in which the President himself brought up the issue of gun control, outlined his agenda, the methods which he intended to use to achieve his agenda, and spelled out his plan to the queen of anti-gun proponents.

In closing, as I have stated previously above, I have emailed the President and ask him to send to me his 'plans, intentions, opinion, etc. on gun control and the second amendment.'

Upon receipt, I will post his response for all those interested..

So during the lame duck second term he's going to enact something that has been reaffirmed by the SCotUS as a liberty in the Constution, the individual right to keep and bear arms?

Seems like election year BS and a membership drive to me.

I am a zealous defender of all our liberty; my liberal friends think I'm a loon owning guns and my conservative friends think I'm a pinko socialist as I love the 4th amendement, relax as our guns aren't going anywhere.

I agree. Not because I trust Obama to respect the 2nd Amendment, because I know there are too many Americans, myself included, who will refuse to give up there guns. What happened in Australia will not happen in America, at least in most states.

The fact is the UN is pushing for a worldwide gun ban and Obama will bow to their rules imho. There was much I didn't like about the Bush administration but Dubya was the kind of President who had the balls to defy the UN.

Hey Derek,

Welcome and I’m glad to see you're on board, i.e. pro gun, pro second amendment and pro constitution and no, you are not a loon.

For the record, I research the internet thoroughly for links and content for 99.99% of my posts and do not cherry pick information from purely biased sites either way.

The information I post, to the best of my knowledge is fact based and not in anyway associated with politics.

In case you haven’t seen before, I am clearly on record 'everywhere' that I have completely lost confidence in both parties, i.e. I do NOT support either the dumb donkeys or the hypocritical elephants.

So I promise you, whatever I post never conceals a political agenda.

My agenda in this case is clear, I support and protect the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, and the individual rights conferred within it.

Fact: this is not any sort of stereotypical political diatribe.

Yes. you are correct as SCOTUS ruled clearly and concisely in the decision;

District of Columbia v. Heller (2008), that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia[1][2] and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Additionally, the Court enumerated several longstanding prohibitions and restrictions on firearms possession that it found were consistent with the Second Amendment.[3] In McDonald v. Chicago (2010), the Court ruled that the Second Amendment limits state and local governments to the same extent that it limits the federal government.[4]

Leading up to these comments and his Presidency Mr. Obama has by historic and researchable fact left a clear trail of ‘gun control statements’ with his fingerprints all over them, right up to and including his first term as President.

I would concur that President Obama, or any other President in the near future is likely to attempt a full frontal attack on the Second Amendment based solely on the SCOTUS decision of 2008.

However, he has and is attacking individual gun rights, to quote his own words, ‘under the radar’. Do not be mislead by his smoke and mirrors tactic in this current ‘under the radar’ attack which is shrewdly thought out and calculated with plans and intentions to circumvent SCOTUS and the Second Amendment.

Senator Obama is on record in the 2008 primary; “As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain (constrain = limit, restrain, restrict but to name a few examples) the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.” As an analogy, have you ever lived where there is a Home Owner’s Association? Enough said as many HOAs do not allow votes or individual rights as a whole.

I might add at this point that here in Arizona, both during and afterwards, agents disgruntled by the ‘illegal’ debacle of "Fast and Furious" have gone off and on record that this was an attempt to create an atmosphere to promote and support gun control laws.

Now this is my favorite though and I’m confident the President is very sorry about opening his mouth in the first place as his comments and his obvious error in entrusting the first lady of gun control, Sarah Brady, with his now infamous conversation with her, her husband, and in front of the White House Press Secretary, Jay Carney.

Sarah Brady then unbelievably to me ‘quoted’ the President to the Washington Post as saying; “I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

These statements are primary source information revealing President Obama’s previous intent, ‘we are working on it’, his plan, i.e. ‘we have to go thru a few processes’, and his method of concealment from the public, i.e. ‘but under the radar’.

I cannot interrupt this any other way.

Obama's puppet in Chicago is doing his part to Rahm it down legal gun owners' throats.

Step one:
Registration/extortion fee

Step two:
Ban "Assault Weapons"

Step three: Confiscation of any weapons deemed objectionable by anti-gunners either now or in the future.

There are many quotes from ancient history addressing the need of dictators to disarm the citizenry.

The threat of and the actual loss of the right to protect oneself due to the rules and laws of a leader or government is not new and has repeated itself throughout all of recorded history.

The ancient thinkers recognized the reality of requirements for control:
The people of the various provinces are strictly forbidden to have in their possession any swords, bows, spears, firearms or other types of arms. The possession of these elements makes difficult the collection of taxes and dues, and tends to permit uprising. – Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Japanese Shogun, August 29, 1558

Those whose eyes are open to the truth have always spoken out:

A sword never kills anybody; it is a tool in the killer's hand. – Lucius Annaeus Seneca, c. 4BC - 65AD.

•ARISTOTLE
◦"Both Oligarch and Tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." (Politics, Aristotle p. 218)

Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest. – Mahatma Gandhi, in Gandhi, An Autobiography, p. 446

GEORGE WASHINGTON (First President)
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour." (George Washington’s address to the 1st session of Congress)

The wish of a few to disarm the many is not in ones imagination, sadly it is the thought of those few who seek total control in an attempt to deprieve the citizens of their rights.

Man children? You DO realize that women own guns and care about this issue also, don't you? I love the automatic stereotyping of what gun owners are like. You might want to educate yourself more before speaking out like that.

Good thread and thanks I must of missed it when it was posted. However someone sent me an email about the topic so I came here and did a search and found your thread..

This will tell the story if enough gun owners will actually stand up if and when this happens. I know their agenda is to sign a UN treaty and then try and use the obligation in the constitution to honor treaties as US Law (twisted interpretation) as excuse to outlaw guns. I doubt it will work however I am not so sure it won't the willingness of the people to put up with ever increasing police state tactics and tyranny never ceases to amaze me so we'll see I guess...
