Chinese are used to lots of rumors.

I don't know how they weigh and evaluate them in great detail.

I know that at local Provincial C Party meetings, they could argue for literally many hours over what the nuances were from the specific words and phrases in speeches and written communications from headquarters in Beijing.

This will likely be resolved in 24-72 hours one way or the other.

I love how a rumour gets 54 flags. Interesting.

This is ATS. There is a thread about a potential dragon sighting with more flags than this one.

I used to be Kim Jong Un, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

Kim Jong Un dead? It must run in the family. His father was il for years.

Kim Jong Un dead? Undead you say? Zombie apocalypse!
At least then the North Koreans would have something to eat... BRAIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNS.

If Shang Tsung is available, I'd vote for him. Albeit, he's a fictional character from the Mortal Kombat game series. I can vouch for his abilities to rule and conquer. He would make for a welcome leader among the other alpha males on tap. He might not be of Korean descent, but, he has the skill to swallow your soul. So. That can't be all bad, right?

I wonder how much the people of N. Korea have to cry this time, if rumors are valid? They might want to contract some special effects people to help out. Might save their lives.

first bit of MSM, from CNN.

(CNN) -- The U.S. intelligence community has found no evidence to suggest North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is dead, a senior U.S. official said Friday following posts on China's version of Twitter that claimed Kim had been assassinated while in Beijing. U.S. intelligence officials have been looking into such rumors for more than a week, according to the official, who has direct knowledge of the latest U.S. analysis. "With that society you can never be 100% sure, but we just don't see any evidence of it," the official told CNN. "It's a closed society, but at this point we do not believe it's true."

That.s because the rumors started in early January.

China being a factory of rumors and hoaxes is well known... I thought people on ATS were more informed than that...

So the story says he was murdered in China??

Even less likely.

The story is 99.9% sure to be bunk.

Yes because everyone knows that China is the land of puppies, duckies, and bunnies. Nothing bad could ever happen there.

If true, wonder if all the people who didn't cry hard enough at his father's funeral, will be exonerated.

Nah, it's N. Korea.....

I'm going with probabilities. But eh, go believing twitter rumors out of China if you want.

Probably the same claim that just caught fire for some reason at this particular moment.

Also where is the report that Kim Jong Un was going/being in China? I follow the news in Asia EVERY DAY and guess what, I never seen any report that he was in China.

I'm saying it's bunk.

If he did die, I do believe it would have been from eating everything in sight.

Or is it too soon?
