I don't like the argument some people are using to justify america's "leadership" of the world.

Some of you guys are using examples of vietnam, afghanistan, iraq, and other "invasions" as a way to say "look how strong our military is, we control you", it's quite the opposite even in the case of WW2.

Claims that america win wars all the time in history is only written in american textbooks. America did not win WW2, vietnam, nor did it win any war since. It may say that in your history books but it bloody well doesn't say it in mine.

As for america (in terms of leadership, military) it is a coward. It launches attacks from afar using terror drones, its the only nation to wipe out populations with nuclear weapons and it has always walked out of battles with it's head hanging low in shame, c'mon the reality is america likes to think it wins and it is the best which is far from the truth i don't see how proud anyone can be about an oppressive leadership which slaughters innocent civilians from their armchair.

The nation is run by armchair warriors, nothing but talk and hitting buttons. Quite cowardly if you ask me. It's quite surprising that the nation with the "allegedy" biggest military budget has failed to win ONE single battle amongst the hundreds of invasion throught the past 100 years or so.

To add to that, it will be suicide for the US to attack Iran.

It will be like the final straw where other nations get fed up with it's colonialist attitude to the middle-east. Alot of people use the "we have nukes" as a comeback, which is in itself another armchair chant, the US has ticked off pakistan as it is with the constant murdering of civilians, when will they flip? Don't forget they have nukes too, and i'm sure the last thing pakistan wants is another invasion in their back yard.

In the current state, the US military, congress, government and officials are nothing but cowardly provokateurs. They abuse "authority" in the event of hoping for a retaliation so they can scream "bloody murder" when they get hit. This is exactly what they are doing in the persian gulf and it is unacceptable and needs to be stopped.

...pretty sure theres a few countries who might beg to differ with that statement...I know our tiny piss-ant country of NZ would...we may be small, but we've pretty much always been there...

When 9-11 happened our Search and Rescue/Recovery Teams were gearing up and on the next plane over within 24 hours...I know this as my flatmate at the time headed one of those Teams.

When Hurricane Katrina struck, again what Teams we had geared up and flew over asap.


We may well be a country of barely 4 million...so likely easily went unnoticed...but we don't forget those who have helped us - so when the call comes we come...

You are correct...Iran would not be fought like a standard conventional war....even though the U.S. is fully capable of fighting in this manner but for Iran...it would not make sense. The first and primary concern and targets would be all of Irans Nuclear Facilities and we know where they all are secret or not. These sites would have to be seized as bombing them conventionally would make the whole Middle east Radioactive to an extent.

As I have said before...the U.S. would have to eliminate the threat of the Iranian Navy as well as Irans Airforce...this would be done with ease...but with GREAT loss of Iranian lives. The Seizing of Iranian Nuclear sites would be the job of Special Forces and Airborne Rangers in the thousands....but to prevent an Iranian Ground Army counter attack...the U.S. would use it's Non-Nuclear EMP devies delivered by Stealth F-22's and B-2's. These Weapons are designed to render all electrnics innert as well as stop any Vehicles, Tanks, troop Transport vehicles....but they would not kill people with the exception of accidents. This whole war scenario is unlikely but this is the way it would go down should Iran try to close the Strait or Declare it has Nukes....but it has deluded itself into thinking that the United States Military would not attack simply because a country has Nuclear Weapons or even Multiple Nukes. This is why Russia and China are very nervous and very helpful of late as soon this ABM Missle System will be joined by a fully integrated Sea Borne Laser System. Split Infinity

You really should get some new text books. Even though you cannot down play Russia contribution to the Defeat of the Nazi's....you have to remember...the United States was fighting a Massive Bloody war across the Pacific. Island hopping and fighting a very determined Japanese force that would fight to the last man...very rarely would a Japanese Soldier surrender. My close family member was in the Baton death march and the Japanese created attrocities that you could not believe. China still hates Japan with a passion as the Japanese not only killed Millions of Chinese...they created Enslavement Rape Stations for their troops through many areas in China and Asia. The U.S. came out of the war as the Primary Super Power...and without the U.S. Bombing Missions to destroy German Military Factories...Russia would not have prevailed on the Eastern Front. Not suicide as in we'd lose the face to face fight, of course our military is better... suicide as in heading into ANOTHER war while we're financially hobbled and already involved in afghanistan as well as random actions in other ME countries would be our demise. It be the slow bleed out the extremists spoke of from the beginning (9/11).... they're keeping us fighting fighting fighting... all the while we're paying THEM for the oil we need in order to facilitate our fighting against them...at some point we're not gonna be able to afford to fight anymore and if we hop into a war with Iran I know for a fact that we're gonna reach that point. Look at what Iraq and Afghan have done to us (among other things) already.
