Well it does mention in the first sentence of the thread that the UFO reports on file are from military pilots describing objects that 'do not correspond to normal air traffic and pose a potential threat to air safety' but if any of the objects involved were Russian satellites then I'm sure you'd have the decency to tell us Jim.

Any thoughts on the cases already posted like the Puerto Montt, Eco Inka, Tobalaba, Angostura, Bariloche, Pelican, Punta Arenas or La Joya Military Base incidents?

Saw a recent and relevant interview link with the Chilean Army Major over on the Anomalist website in which he urges investigators to 'get out of their ivory towers and get back to brass tacks by examining evidence, even if we end up debunking the cases' which I suppose can only be a good thing - there's also this incredibly strange UFO/USO Police case from Tocopilla which I'd be interested to hear your opinion on.

Rodrigo Bravo, an army major and the foremost specialist of the UFO phenomenon in Chile, comes clean with Publimetro about a subject that creates tremendous attention in our country. From a critical perspective, Bravo seeks to find the effects of anomalous aerial phenomena to contribute toward aeronautical safety, more than to seek out its causes.

Chilean army major Rodrigo Bravo, 38, has twenty-one years of military service behind him and has been the first Chilean military man to approach the UFO phenomenon from a critical perspective. He will be one of several presenters in the 4th Maip UFO Conference. In an interview with Publimetro, Bravo discusses the emergence of his relationship with the UFO phenomenon, discusses his critical perspective, having even been branded a skeptic even while denying it, his international experience and how the subject is currently being handled in our country.

So, what does aeronautical ufology believe in?

When we speak of Ufology based on critical thinking, it doesn’t mean that you believe in nothing at all. It means that you know you’re faced with an anomalous phenomenon whose origin you cannot understand or comprehend. Yet, it has certain manifestations that cause havoc with aerial operations and that’s where you go it. The manifestation of an anomalous phenomenon can be due to ions, meteorological phenomena, atmospheric phenomena, unknown advanced technology or under development, in short, anything. It could even be an unidentified flying object of extraterrestrial origin. The problem is that we have no way of proving it, so therefore, we leave the possibility open, and instead of seeking causes, we seek means of mitigating its effect..

Chile's CEEFA joined by France's 3AF organisation:

Chile’s UFO investigations to be aided by prominent French aerospace organization

The Aeronautical and Astronautical Association of France (3AF) has signed an agreement with Chile’s Committee for the Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena (CEFAA) to cooperate on the study of UFOs. 3AF posted an article on their website late last month explaining their newly founded relationship with CEFAA.

3AF is an important organization in France, and in Europe’s aeronautical industry in general. Similar to the United State’s American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, it is a society for those participating in, or interested in, the aerospace industry.

Surprisingly, 3AF also has a strong interest in the investigation of UFOs. Although, it might not be too surprising to those who know that the French government is one of very few that have an official organization that investigates UFOs. It is called the Study and Information Group on Aerospace Unidentified Phenomena (GEIPAN), and is part of France’s National Center for Space Studies (CNES), their version of NASA.

CEFAA, which is also an official government sanctioned UFO research organization, differs from GEIPAN in that it is part of Chile’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), the equivalent to the FAA here in the U.S.

3AF also has a UFO study commission called 3AF/SIGMA2. This commission aides GEIPAN in the scientific analysis of UFO reports, and they will now help CEFAA in a similar fashion. 3AF’s article explains that CEFAA has determined that the UFO phenomena is real, and that it may pose a risk to aviation. Now they wish to further examine “their causes and their effects.”
