Radical U.S. Muslims Little Threat, Study Says

www.nytimes.com

A feared wave of homegrown terrorism by radicalized Muslim Americans has not materialized, with plots and arrests dropping sharply over the two years since an unusual peak in 2009, according to a new study by a North Carolina research group.

Considering that the CIA seems to have groomed most of the small number of muslim extremist's plotting terror I think people are more likely to get injured from slipping over on dog sh#t in the street than being injured by a muslim.

Most of the cases I have seen have been close to entrapment. Like the guy that was going to fly a remote control airplane packed with C4 into the White House recently. Sounds like he wouldnt have gotten that far if the CIA wasnt encouraging him. The CIA seems to be involved in all the terror plots by muslims since 911. I think we should forget about muslims and worry about the CIA. The CIA is more of a threat to the public than any muslim.

Charles Kurzman, the author of the report for the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security, called terrorism by Muslim Americans “a minuscule threat to public safety.” Of about 14,000 murders in the United States last year, not a single one resulted from Islamic extremism, said Mr. Kurzman, a professor of sociology at the University of North Carolina.

Not one person murdered by an islamic extremist from 14000.

An average of 650 people a year are hurt so badly after slipping on dog-poo in Paris that they have to be taken to hospital. This works out at nearly two victims each day

Its a problem in France.

This report sounds as deluded as one from British MP's a week or so ago, where they stated that white right wing groups were more of a danger than Islamic terror groups. Even though all recent terror attacks and plots on the mainland of the UK for some years now have come from Islamic groups...

Islam really is not that big a problem. A lot of people (particularly Christians, I've noticed) make out that it is, but most of said claims are hysteria.

I am not claiming to be anything close to an expert, but a basic level of knowledge of Islamic theology will really help, here. Mohammed says that every nationality or civilisation on the planet gets sent its' own warners, (prophets) who basically outline to them what God's message for them is, relative to their own context. The Constitution of Medina guaranteed worship of God to all groups present at the time, as well.

So what this means is, that any Muslim who thinks that he has the right to kill anybody, simply because they are of a different religious system, is in fact a heretic according to his own professed theology. Muslims do not have a theological right to destroy the places of worship of other religions, or to murder other religions' adherents, unless it is in genuine self-defense. If you hear any Muslim advocating such, look up the relevant Qu'ranic verses, and then call them on it.

Pretty sure the focus of the study was ethnicity.

The report also found that no single ethnic group predominated among Muslims charged in terrorism cases last year — six were of Arab ancestry, five were white, three were African-American and two were Iranian, Mr. Kurzman said. That pattern of ethnic diversity has held for those arrested since Sept. 11, 2001,

But I think its also saying that if you are worried about muslim extremists you are being a little hysterical. Do you worry about dog poo?

It is interesting that you restrict yourself to "mainland UK", as if the dozens and dozens of attacks in Northern Ireland don't matter.
But even discounting those, you are still wrong. Since the 2005 London bombings (7 years ago), there have been a total of 12 attacks and/or plots in the "Mainland of the UK".

Only 4 were perpetrated and/or planned by muslims.

NONE of these 12 resulted in any deaths (except the for the Glasgow attack, where the attacker died later of injuries sustained).

There were a total of 12 injuries in these 7 years relating to terrorism, with 3 being the attackers (again the Glasgow attack, and the Exeter bombing), and 3 from bystanders when they assisted in apprehending the terrorists (again teh Glasgow bombing), and 6 from the (unrelated to muslims) letter bombings in 2007.

So while the author of this thread was talking about the US, I'd say a strong case can be made for the thesis that never mind just muslim terrorists, the threat of ANY terrorism in the UK is way overstated.

No, but we are! Anyone in favor of the gold standard, Ron Paul, the Constitution of the United States, or the Right to carry a firearm. We are enemies of the state.

I had a post couple days ago, went like this:

Last Year USA

1 People killed by Dog bites 200

2 People killed by lightning 35

3 People killed by Terrorism 11 (domestic)

I think we should be spending the 800 billion budget on a War With Dogs.

Here lies the flaw, here lies room for interpretation.

No moreso than with the non-Islamic crowd who will try and tell you that WW2 was justified, on the same basis. Although you're right; people do at times try to establish false pretext. You will generally find, however, that anybody who does that, was part of the world domination demographic to begin with.

i have to agree the islamic terror threat is quite low. They also dont threaten our institutions of government as one british judge said " it was in the balance whether we would survive Hitler but there is no doubt we will survive Al-Qaeda"

Politics of fear in full effect gives the government more control. The bbc documentary "the power of nightmares" is interesting viewing on this subject.
