After 20 years scientists believe that the world's largest earthquake in Hawaii, Mauna Loa, is "getting ready to come out of it's den. Since July
of this year, Mauna Loa has had more than 350 earthquakes. It is not believed that the eruption is "around the corner", but scientists fear that
every day brings us closer to the event.

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii Earthquakes have been rumbling more frequently beneath Mauna Loa, suggesting that the world's largest volcano is getting ready
to erupt for the first time in 20 years, scientists said.
We don't believe an eruption is right around the corner, but every day that goes by is one day closer to that event, said Paul Okubo, a
seismologist at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on the Big Island.

In 1984, Mauna Loa erupted for 3 weeks. Since then an estimated $2.3 billion has been spent on construction along Mauna Loa's slopes.
Paul Okubo, a seismologist at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory on the Big Island, claims that it is unusual for Mauna Loa to have so many deep, long
period earthquakes. Prediction of Mauna Loa's eruption is not possible and not exact, but high tech equipment and technology helps scientists
measure activity on the mountain better.
