What is a good Bow and Arrow set to purchase online...em to hunt wild game such as deer and bears? I don't like fire arms and in the event of a disaster I think that arrows are easier to make oneself. Additionally I would had liked to remain stealthy in the event of urban warfare and and an anarchy type of environment.

I don't know man. But you better make sure not to skimp on them knee caps. I cant tell you how many people I have met that were once an adventure, like yourself, but had to retire due to an injury to the knee caused by the projectile weapon known as an arrow.

I have a PSE that I bought back in 1976 ...good bow ..The new ones look awsome but I hardley use mine anymore so its not worth it for me to get a new one ......peace

The arrows for compound bows are better bought from a manfacture ...using your own arrows can be very very dangerious ..

You would want a compound bow, but if you want to be traditional go for a recurve.
To take down a bear you would need a very high poundage (no less then 50pounds) bow and very fat broad tip arrows.
As the person above said you would need to be careful making arrows for a high poundage compound.. So try and find some good plans because they could shatter and impale you if you don’t make them right.
Compound bows are stealthy, compact and you can attach an arrow holder to the bow itself which is practical.

but OP brings up a good point, what in fact would be a good bow and arrow to get? ( i don't plan on getting one, nor do i ever plan on shooting people with it, that would be bad )

but i am curious as to see what people consider a good bow and arrow.

Well I want to get one to practice. I don't ever want to shoot anyone also. But with conspiracy's about anarchy and other stuff well... I prefer a bow and arrow over a gun or any fire arm, you keep a low profile and such. I guess a fire arm is fired in an instant out of fear and such, but with a bow you have to plan out and make sure you hit. It would be my choice of weapon for warfare.

If you would want to craft your own arrows make sure to get a bow that is not a compound bow.
Otherwise your arrows may shatter on you and possibly kill you.
Or just do the smart thing and get a 22, but if you still feel the need to use tools from the stone age...

as was stated above, if you are going to make your won arrows, get a recurve bow. honestly, i would go with a nice compound and just amass a large collection of arrows. i personally like matthews bows. get yourself a good drop away or a whisker biscuit, a stabilizer, and a good sight. you can also get these little silencers that attach to the string. for under 500 you should be able to get a complete set up that is fast and almost silent. with a few hours of target practice, using it will be almost foolproof...just make sure you hold the bow right or the string will beat the crap outta your arm.

This slowmo vid of what a arrow does shows how it is possible to have the wrong arrow and let your imagination think about a weak arrow behind a strong bow ...the arrow can break at release and can cause serious damage to the shoter .... www.youtube.com...

Not a compound bow, not ever unless you want it as a spare bow bugged-in.

Get a recurve / flat bow. They are easier to pick-up than a longbow.
Get a longbow if you have the time to practise and train your body on it.
You are looking at about $40 or so for a beginners shortbow (think Barnett).
For the more exotic heavy's like longbows and the like then upwards of $400 brand new.
Between 45 lb and 80 lb, depends on what you suit.
I'm not in the US currently so can't advise you on makes and models.

For a SHTF and hunting bow, the stealthiest one woud be a crossbow. Chewbacca, of Star Wars fame carried one in some of the Star War's book story's. I just bought my first crossbow last year. It is a Ten Point, which is a very good maker. I think PSE makes an expensive AR-15 crossbow upper. If you have the coin, this AR-15 crossbow upper might be the way to go.

Hit the nail on the head. If your looking at making your own arrows then you already picked your bow. You have to go with a long bow no more than around 65ish pounds otherwise you are asking for a eye poking incident as your arrow shatters!. Research the English long bow and what it takes to make an arrow, I think you will be surprised at the complexity of the operation and the limited types of wood you can use. They are very precise if you want them to fly straight more than a few feet.
I went down the same road years ago and tossed the idea. Instead I went with a simple crossbow, extra Bstring and a good supply of bolts. They are for covert hunting so I dont leave a sound vector.
