Russia, China veto UN rebuke of Syrian president

We all know the US will undermine the regime in the end, it's an ideal opportunity for a operation similar to the one in 2001 where green berets trained and supported the Northern Alliance, and more recently undermining Col. Gadaffi's regime in Libya. It will happen mark my words.

That is true, that US NATO have the capability to go ahead and do the Serbia or Libya again. However, the equation is little different at this time. Russia is not as weak and drunk as it was in 1999 when Serbia was attacked. Russia and China are much more involved with Syria than they were with Libya. Syria does hold strategic importance for Russia a lot. Thus if West goes ahead with attack, then Russians and Chinese will start arming notoriously, the Assad regime and army. Remember, vrs Libyans, half of Gaddhafi's army defected easily and many fought a little and surrendered quickly. That was because they were against the world. If Russia and China had backed G, then his army would have stuck around and fought real hard, because they had some real power to fall back to and get more arms and support.

So end of it all, West would be wise enough to not mess around with Syria. Do not know how much would Russians support Iran but it would make a good strategic sense for them to do so. Iran is a big country and holds a lot of strategic importance.

The resolution was to condem the use of Violence against civian protesting,
for those that belive it was mossad or the CIA are behind the protest
are vastly overestimating their cappacity to incite crowds.

Condeming violence like this shoudn't be up to a few member states to veto
, it should be voted on at the general assembily and a majority statement produced.

I agree its overdue the UN apparatus was changed. Majority should rule just like any open free rrepresentative democratic referendum. Its amazing to watch how primitive these leaders still act in their inaffective veto bull since the creation of UN. Their are rumours now that China was bribed by Iran. www.wnd.com...

Why not start attacking countries without the UN vote? Guess Might is Right as in case of Serbia and Iraq 2003.

Now backed by Tunisia, the west is trying to declare Assad government as illegitimate and thus provoke a total civil war in that country. I am sure many more puppets and prostitutes will follow the smell of backroom handouts.

Since WW II, no combination of nations caused more slaughter, destruction, and human misery globally that America. Moreover, Washington won't tolerate democracy at home or abroad.

International law prohibits interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, including determining the legitimacy of their leaders. Moreover, Syria's "abhorrent brutality" is entirely Western-backed. It was absent until Washington, key NATO partners, and rogue regional despots intervened, notably Saudi Arabia, and of course, Israel's very much involved.

In fact, a mid-December Qatar Foundation-funded YouGov Siraj poll found 55% of Syrians back Assad. It contradicts Western discourse of majority opposition. Except for the London Guardian, the findings were unreported in the West.

Anyhoo, should Russia and China want to keep Syria in their pockets... Why do they not just invade and replace it with a regime that can benefit them? Would be very interesting to see them involved.

It's impossible to tell what Russia and China may do should NATO and the Arab League invade Syria. But all the signs lead to some sort of conflict, sadly.

Though, the facts are clear, President Bashar al-Assad is massacring his people. At the end of the day, there will be some sort of military intervention by the Arab League and NATO partners.
