The flag pole at a school near where I grew up, suddenly failed. Due to wet rot that the school had negligently left unrepaired, it severed at ankle-length and plunged down smashing the skull of a kid who happened to be standing where the top would have hit the ground.
Whilst doctors managed to save his life, some 90% of his brain was reduced to pulp - The smartest kid in school, destined to go to the top universities in the land, survived but as a cabbage, paralysed in a wheelchair, unable to tell whether it is day or night. He has to be attended to by a nurse 24/7.
The courts awarded him $1,000,000 in compensation against the scholl who admitted gross negligence.
According to you, this kid should be stripped of the funds that sit in investment trusts to pay for his care and he should be left on the street to die. What an outrageously vicious view.
