Guess what......... England is Imperialistic.

Guess what: England makes me proud! Its population has created more important inventions, per capita, than any other country. I am one of its people, and I am loyal to our people –no matter how at times I may disagree with government policies.

And I would most certainly head over to Argentina to help them if another war erupts against "the British".

And I look forward to joining the MOD (or designing weapons for the government) in the knowledge that those munitions would kill you, and kill people like you. You absolutely deserve it, you oppose democracy for a Western English speaking, and English loving, Falkland island population, and that in my view should carry the death penalty.

I happen to also have a low opinion of our involvement OF America’s military industrial complex wars in Afghanistan, and Iraq, and always predicted that Libya would turn into chaos (at least for the people who live there). I think it’s poor loyalty to a staunch ally that Obama seems neutral about Britain’s continued sovereignty of the islands. But then he is one of America’s most left wing, as well as most incompetent presidents.

Yet I would honestly join the military to fight for our Falklands, because (even though I have never been to it, and have had no intention) I fully ideologically support the right to self-determination for the majority of people who live there. These are my country men, and their territory is an oil rich asset, (which for once) rightfully belongs to Great Britain.

Quotes like this make me pissed. Have you ever been in Argentina? Do you even know were that is?
I know it’s somewhere that needs to do two things: Accept the will of the of a democracy that is as English speaking & thinking, as the people of London.
Or be destroyed. I will hate any British government that does night fight indefinitely with assassination, and munitions, to regain the Falklands.
I know where Argentina is, I just regret that (centuries ago) my ancestors didn’t make it an English speaking, respectful of democracy & existing sovereignty places, like America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, today.

oh lord i cant belive it theres so much ignorance , hate , violence in this thread...
what can i say here is just a little.
i know Argentina the UK and several nations. i've lived my last 15 years in Argi as i called it, now im living in the UK.
I cant understand why people in the uk hates them so much(Arg) i mean here in the uk everybody talks about violence...starting a new war sending more troops etc...as far as i could see ,talk, discuss etc... in Argentina everyone is talking(refering to the falk/malvi) as going by a more diplomatic way...nobody talks about invading them , the military, or hating islanders... that said lets be a bit more "pacific".There are no chances of going to war... with arg becouse they dont want it and never did. the people and their representatives back in the 80 werent the same people.

Also...i 've been reading a wikipedia
these 2 links( the years got my attention)

en.wikipedia.org...

en.wikipedia.org...

ii dont know how to say it but everone else in this thread has ignore that the falklands started as a French colony in 1764 then ceded to Spain in 1767.Sovereignty of the islands was transferred to Argentina from Spain upon independence(1810).
them ass it says in the Nootka Sound Convention between Spain and the UK in 1790
"Article VI provided that neither party would form new establishments on any of the islands adjacent to the east and west coasts of South America then occupied by Spain. Both retained the right to land and erect temporary structures on the coasts and islands for fishery-related purposes."

so if the british got there in 1765.ANY Sovereignty is indeed bull#

keep calm and lets discuss this in peace*

let me know if you think something is wrong .
DM

Pd:sorry about my engrish*

Well sir.... In regards to your Opinion of America.....

You don't see Puerto Rico rising up against their American Imperialist Oppressors...

Also, while we are on the subject.. I hear the Virgin Islands are really nice this time of year.. Warm sandy beaches, pristine view of the ocean and most importantly not an uprising to be found.

That's one of the sanest posts I've ever seen on ATS. Kudos to you, sir / madam.

The right of the people who live on the islands to maintain self-determination is inalienable. If I step back and try and see it from the perspective of people in Argentina it does look like an anomaly — yet only on a map, not when you look at the population.

Or do democratic rights only start when a population reaches a certain size?

The source?

There is only one.

A 2005 book written by the psychoanalysis of President Mitterrand of France who wants us to believe that Mitterrand shared this titbit, during the height of the Falklands war, with his psychoanalysis.

No doubt it helped to generate publicity for a book that would otherwise have been largely ignored, while Mitterrand died in 1995, so he was in no position to deny the accusations.

The Guardian

France, according to the British Minister of Defence, in reality was perhaps the UK's best ally during the Falklands war.

FRANCE was Britain's greatest ally during the Falklands war, providing secret information to enable MI6 agents to sabotage Exocet missiles which were desperately sought by Argentina, according to Sir John Nott, who was Defence Secretary during the conflict.

Although Lady Thatcher clashed with President Mitterrand over the future direction of Europe, he immediately came to her aid after Argentine forces invaded the Falklands in April 1982.

The Monroe doctrine, 1823, essentially said the US would not allow any NEW colonization in the western hemisphere nor interference with existing countries. In 1870 it was amended to forbid the TRANSFER of a colony to another country. I do not know if any of this would apply to the Falklands. Given the hisroeic hypocrisy of US foreign policy, in my opinion it matters not at all.

I have read that the reason Roosevelt gave to Congress for our entry into WW2 Europe was the Monroe. Denmark ruled Greenland (western hemi) and when Germany defeated Denmark they claimed Greenland, a forbidden transfer.

Can you supply the date and form (treaty?) of the Spanish renouncing their claim?
