Do you think alien contact would necessarily be a good thing?

It would wake people up and start seriously questioning what is reality. Maybe that's why there has been so much secrecy around this subject, it would get too many people thinking too much. Very dangerous.

I never said that humans couldn't be a resource, I just said it doesn't seem likely they are using us to mine resources for them. 1st, if we were a mining slave race, you'd think a lot more people would be miners. 2nd, why would they have made us use stone age tools for mining for thousands of years, with us only recently developing machinery and the like, seems really inefficient, and just doesn't make sense. 3rd, humans are a bad work force, they get tired easily, need sleep, get bored, need food etc. I imagine an advanced race could do much better.
