Some one is selfish because they smoke? Seriously.....how is that. If you want to borrow a smoke from me, just ask, I'm not selfish.

- Put a massive satellite in my garden, over-hanging your personal space - because I like to pick up long-distance TV/radio/comms. I like it, you don't, that's your problem.

Not sure how your laws are in europe, but in the US, if it overhangs my property line, I can cut off the part that overhangs.

- Play music until 2am, heavy death metal, because I like it. It will damage my ears but I like it so screw you. You don't like it?

Depends on the volume level. I am a heavy metal fan, but if its too loud, there is this law about disturbing the peace. (once again, in the US, not sure about europe)

- I shall purchase 5 loud dogs and a few cages of dangerous animals which may, on occasion, infiltrate youe garden, eat your plants and perhaps kill a pet for food or fun. Oh, I'm sorry, don't you like that? I suggest you move house or get used to it.

Another US law. If your pets are harassing my livestock, I am well within my legal right to shoot your pet. (or course, I would try peaceful means first)

it's a horrible smell which stains and smells on my clothes for ages until I wash it

I might suggest you wash your clothes a bit more often....."ages" sounds a bit too long.

Do you think I am a bully? I've been shown something, have I? Is that because I didn't respond within the regimental 10 minutes? Do you think I have no life outside this? You'd be quite surprised.

As for the responses above... you're ridiculous. Your smoke does exactly what my listed ideas does: invade your space. Why don't I shoot you because of your unhealthy smoke (as proven above with the list which was for smoke rather than what is inhaled, thus meaning passive smokers are more at risk than inhalers, apparently)? My dogs, music, satellite dish, music all invade your space and disturb you (not health related, but could be indirectly with infected dogs, loud music could have psychological effects, just as you smokers have said smoking does) and you have the 'right' to cut off, report, shoot...? But you can puff away all over the place and I have to accept it?

The point of this thread was: Why smoke? As I predicted, it has turned into a slanging match between a group of people huddled together for support... and me. That is not a concern of mine, just an observable fact; one which I enjoy as it's important people stand up for things even in the face of strong opposition and going against the grain.

This is not 'bullying'. This is asking: Why smoke? Because it gives you pleasure? So does masturbation but that's not harmful to your body, that's natural and doesn't disturb anyone else. Why must the thing that you so enjoy has to be harmful to you, others unvoluntarily, give billions to companies to continue making such awful substances for you to stupidly inhale and pass on to others? Why can't you join me in a vitamin-filled, vanilla-scented, natural-leaf-sourced puff which people would actually enjoy smelling and understand I am doing so for health BENEFITS.

How you can find BENEFITS from smoking, body-health related, is absolutely unbelievable. Comparing it with a little wine or sugar? GIVE ME A F-ING BREAK.

Maybe I'll drive fast because I like it, have sex with a few minors because I want to... (having sex is natural, right? Only humans said 18 is an 'age limit', only humans said 70mph is a speed limit).

You live in fairyland if you think you can defend something which is unhealthy and optional in your lives. You all know smoking is dangerous for yourself and others, comparing it to wine/sugar is laughable and you know it, but you continue to do it. It is awfully expensive - imagine what you could give to a charity or save for a nice holiday or new car over a year of spending on cigarettes?

Having the freedom of choice is nice - but, considering you only live once, why on earth would you choose such a brainless activity?

I'm hear to prompt discussion and argument (it's a forumcalled 'above top secret', what do you expect, a mother's meeting about garden flowers?). The website is filled with otherwise 'normal' discussion about semi-interesting things. There's no harm in having a little area for full-on dispute, such as my threads.

Now, back to the point: why smoke? "Because I want to" is not an answer. You don't need to smoke and your body doesn't want you to smoke, nor does your wallet, only your mind. You have 100% control over your mind and your wallet, so why not tell yourself that you're making an ill-informed (pun intended) decision by smoking and, if its only for pleasure, know there are cleaner, safer, healthier, cheaper options?

Odd indeed.

Says the guy that just bought "a nice 42inch Plasma LG television"...

I know, it's non of my business how you spend your money. I'm just saying that you don't need a 42" plasma screen, your body doesn't want you to sit on a couch watching a 42"plasma screen, nor does your wallet want to spend that much money on a television. Only your mind wants it. You have 100% control over your mind and your wallet so why not tell yourself that you're making an ill-informed decision by buying a 42"plasma television?

It feels good but its no good to do it!

In what way is my TV in any way whatsoever related to harmful smoke bothering others?????????????????????????????????

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel for excuses!

One or two of you have mentioned giving up. Why are you giving up? According to all here, it's a perfectly heathy and curtious thing to do!

And, whatever you do, don't by a television! That has the most harmful chemicals and I even have to be segregated in airport terminals, work spaces and, believe it or not, I have to watch my TV outside.

You guys... really

Not sure who you are responding to with this one. Perhaps you could learn to use the "reply to" link.

As for the responses above... you're ridiculous.

As for your lack of using the reply to link.....you're ignorant. (please educate yourself)

...... Why don't I shoot you because of your unhealthy smoke .......

What country are you in, that gives you that legal right?

But you can puff away all over the place and I have to accept it?

"all over the place" No, I am in the DESIGNATED smoking area. If you don't like it, then don't stand in the designated smoking area.

This is not 'bullying'. This is asking: Why smoke?

Again....WHO are you talking to. Where does the bullying thing come from. (please learn to use the reply to or quote links)

How you can find BENEFITS from smoking,

Simple
After a smoke, I feel relaxed. Therefore smoking helps me relax. For me, that is a BENEFIT.

Having the freedom of choice is nice - but, considering you only live once,.....

only live once,thats your religion.

Now, back to the point: why smoke? "Because I want to" is not an answer.

Why watch football, why go fishing, why browse the internet........

So if "I want to" is not the answer, what sort of scripted answer would you prefer to hear

You said:

Let's look a little closer at what you are actually saying...

"Now, back to the point: why smoke? "
So the point is Why smoke?
"Because I want to" is not an answer."
It isn't an answer because...
"You don't need to smoke and your body doesn't want you to smoke, nor does your wallet, only your mind."
Okay...

Then this argument should hold if I replace the subject with your 42" television....agreed?

"Now, back to the point: why buy a 42"plasma television? "
The point is Why buy a 42"plasma television?
"Because I want to" is not an answer."
It isn't an answer because...
"You don't need to watch television on a 42"plasma screen and your body doesn't want you to sit on the couch watching a 42"plasma screen, nor does your wallet, only your mind."

Now either you agree that this reasoning holds water or you agree that the bottom of a barrel is being scrapped.

What I'm saying is, stop scrapping the bottom of the barrel!! "Because I want to" is a valid answer!!

Back to you....

Your logic is fine, 'logically speaking' (remember my thread on 'Is logic logical?' - go and revive it). However, you cannot tar all situations like this with the same brush. It is not about replacing nouns and verbs within a given structure which makes smoking a healthy thing for yourselves, or a healthy thing for unfortunate passive smokers. It's just ridiculous - and I know if the tables were turned, you would be telling me the same thing.

I don't use the 'reply to' button because I people who say something to me know that I am refering to them, which means it doesn't necessarily concern others. If you read back a little, you'll see the user who refered to bullying. I'm not picking sentences out of thin air and responding to invisible posts.

www.medicalnewstoday.com... Is this webpage not enough for you? Will you respond with 'it makes me feel better' or 'I enjoy it'? That is simply not a healthy answer. Your BRAIN might like it, but your body does NOT. What's hard to understand?

I will not it here and be screwed by lame arguments. Some people on here might take such nonsense but I certainly shall not. Comparing it to a TV? Are you... well, what are you? A TV and cigarette smoke????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I know you didn't/won't read the website I presented to you, but try. Look at everything related to smoking. Or, I know, maybe it's a conspiracy and smoking is actually perfectly jolly and healthy and everyone should do it but it's just the secret governments and corps who want you... well, what? It doesn't even make sense, I can't even finish a sensible sentence with such nonsense.

There are many other things which are safer for the body. I have stress sometimes, but I don't light up and harm my body. I also don't force myself to be segregated by smoking such an unhealthy object. I also don't get ill from watching my TV one or 2 hours a day (I'm not a couch potato I can assure) and the £310 I paid for it is a one-off payment which will last probably 5 years until something else tickles my fancy. I won't be any nearer death or some disease that you will have from smoking. You simply CANNOT defend smoking as healthy and beneficial. Your cigarettes, in the UK for example, are something like £5 a packet. Some 'need' 5 a week, and that's considered 'not too many'. So, £100/month. £1,200/year, basically. Sometimes thousands more but not much less for an average smoker. All that money - what could you do with that? What you want, quite, but why choose to pay a disgraceful corporation to poison you and harm others in the process through passive smoking? It lingers in the breath, it stays on clothes during the day... it's utterly vile, doesn't smell nice. If smoking was healthy and had nice things in it, such as I have mentioned above like vanilla and olive oil, for example, would you choose one to smell like tar and week old crap, or some pleasant fragrance? Surely you wouldn't choose the tripe over the nicer smell, if you had the option?

To defend smoking is as useless as defending driving fast when you shouldn't. You like it, it makes you feel better, you may kill people in the process or affect them negatively, it may even affect you very negatively and increase your chances of death - it even says everywhere not to drive fast and you've seen videos of what happens when you do... but you still do. Because you like it and it makes you feel good.

Acceptable? I think not. Choose a cheaper, healthier option and stop defending such nonsensical actions by comparing them, beyond incredibly lamely, to purchasing a TV!!!! My goodness you need to do better than that.

Read the link. Here it is again: www.medicalnewstoday.com...

And tell me my TV is that bad.

It's really difficult discussing things with you...

My last three posts were only dealing with your statement:

back to the point: why smoke? "Because I want to" is not an answer.
.

Focus!!! Why is it not an answer?

(and do say: "You don't need to smoke and your body doesn't want you to smoke, nor does your wallet, only your mind. You have 100% control over your mind and your wallet, so why not tell yourself that you're making an ill-informed (pun intended) decision by smoking" or I'll bring up your 42"plasma screen again)

Why is "because I want to" not an answer?

Remember the question...Why is "because I want to" not an answer?

Now focus on the question (which was "Why is "because I want to" not an answer?") and try to reply in a manner that addresses the question.

Which question.....

Peace

I do. Three seperate people unable to read what I am writing, which does take time and effort, and then ignore what I write. You complain I miss your points (not purposefully) and then you ignore mine. Pure hypocracy. Don't do it. I am waiting for your responses about the link I posted twice and referred to three times. Or do I need to ask you one by one like school boys?

Little guy? You know absolutely nothing about me! I have professional associations with very diverse areas and make good money doing what I enjoy through dedication and study. If you imagine me as a teenage troll sitting in my office jacking off to porn 6 times a day with yoghurts, ice-creams and pizza boxes with my mum shouting at me, you couldn't be further from reality. I just take great, grewt satisfaction in rocking a few boats with a few strong, valid points (not opinions, but points - quote me on that, I know you will), just to pass a little dead time in my days. Usually something happens in my life which makes me start a thread, hence the logic, homeless and this thread.

Now, to your question, if you don't think I've answered it enough in my previous responses that you have so well hypocritically ignored:

Q. "Why is "because I want to" not an answer?"

A.

1. Because it is not acceptable in our context. You cannot tar all situations with the same brush with this species on this planet.

2. It's weak and doesn't really say anything. It is not deep, meaningful or related to my question at hand.

3. If everybody could respond with this, then we would be a lawless community. Do you not deny?

4. My main reason for writing this, bar rocking the boat and ruffling a few feathers, is to try to make people question their decisions and make a more healthier choice. If anything, I'm encouraging self-thought, even if it is a distant goal which is 99.9% unachievable.

If I so desired, as I have used as example a few times, to have sex with an 'underage' (as far as humans have decided - not naturally fixed) individual (a girl, in my case), I could apply your logic and that would be acceptable, would it? Yes, if I apply your logic.

Now, imagine if I was the smelly, unhealthy and worse-off-in-pocket smoker like you are (to all I speak), what would you be saying to me? You would be writing, basically, the same things that I have written and using your same examples but in your favour rather than in mine. You would be quoting health websites with factual facts of smoking being harmful to yourself AND OTHERS (in a selfish way).

In no way, at all, whatsoever, ever, could you possibly justify smoking as: because I want to.

Maybe I'll stalk your daughter (for argument's sake) and see how you like that. It's 'wrong', it will harm me (in the end) and your daughter but so what? I enjoy it.

What's her number?

Operation Mindcrime

man this guy is into judging everyone for everything isn't he? In 2 seconds of thought out of his powerful, superhuman, superior mind, he had the homeless guy figured out to a "t". Never ever considered that the homeless guy might be former rich guy brought low by circumstances beyond his control, did he?

He has me a little bit worried though. Most men consider consensual sex with a willing woman who is his equal, one of life's greatest pleasure. This guy thinks sex with an underage girl (who certainly is not his equal and is at a disadvantage in being able to say no) is a pleasure.

I am not a man but is thinking like that really normal? Is it good for the body (certainly not hers) or soul to be thinking those kinds of thoughts?

So I have won this argument because all you are doing is pulling in anything which is unrelated but makes you look good in your opposition position and garners support. A clever, telling mind tactic in times of failure.

My example is extreme and was chosen after thinking of many other things. You are talking such tripe in defense of health benefits of smoking and that it is somehting you enjoy, despite the noot-so-free planet that you think you live in, that the ONLY way to make you aware of your inccorect mind-set is to use an equally extreme example at the other end of the spectrum. Mind tricks against my examples which have no place in your defense are purely nonsensical and claimless.

I could have used the example of murder. Would you have suggested I am a murderer? I could have used burgling a house. Am I a thief, now? I used underage sex since we all, including myself, agree that it is an unacceptable thing to do and we wouldn't do it even if we 'enjoyed it' because it would be against, quite rightly, what humans consider acceptable.

Try again. By the way, well done on, for the second time, demonstrating your pure, unequivocal hypocracy at ignoring my thread but trying to mock me into not ignoring yours.

As I said earlier, this website is sometimes the pits. Now go ahead and use that sentence as a response rather than 'DB, maybe you have a reason. Smoking is very unhealthy, it is only because I enjoy it that I do it but yes, it also eats into my wallet and perhaps you have given me food for thought for changing my unhealthy ways'.

But no, you pick up on my example and think I'm a paedophile.

Brilliant method!

I know this is question is not addressed to me, but just thought I'd jump in here.

My guess is this guy is not much beyond being a kid him self. Therefore his age compared to the girl is not that many years.
I do have to say his thinking is a bit twisted, but the male human brain does not mature until about the age of 35. OP still has a lot of growing up to do.

I have to admit I'm rather ignorant as to the social culture of eastern europe, but here in the US we have many people (called rednecks) who firmly believe
"Every woman is a lady, and should be treated as such"

So, no, that is not normal thinking for every man.
I liked teen age girls when I myself was a teenager, not now.

(chivalry does still exist in this world, mainly in rednecks, and bikers)

Well DB340

Its because your website is pure unmitigated propaganda, unrelated to real science.

Take the second sentence - so 440, 000 people die in the UK every year due to smoking.

Does your superior mind imagine that these are real bodies, in real coffins, with real families mourning their lost loved ones?

Well no actually - the figure is an estimate provided by a computer called SAMMAC - no real people were studied and no real people were involved in the calculation of this estimate.

www.nycclash.com...

Does your superior mind have a bull# detector?
