How my Group trains, why we will survive over others. SHTF Prep Gone Wild of sorts.

I live no where exotic.
Moderate Temp Year round.
It is a peninsula.
I have quite a few many relatives, that live within
50 miles of the surrounding area though.

They have plenty of gourmet morel, porcine,
and fresh hand pick chanterelle mushrooms, boy are they ever delicious!!
Every year we meet up and go over vital EMERGENCY survival information, and play
a 3 day game of SCENARIO.... (Nuclear holocaust is one of my favorites! Great time to test gear.)

I would highly recommend bringing your group together,.
Can be your family, friends, and theirs. Sixty people is fun,
but you can go up to 100.

We could not do it THIS BIG without at least
50 people total.
They call them combat sports.

Paintball in particular we are talking about now.

Much more interesting,
tactical, funner, then it's popular, annoying, overrated little sister
Air soft.
Not to mention when you get
shot with a big paintball, the feel is more realistic to a bullet.


You do not want to use real ammo
on each other do you/?

Aside from you guys actually shooting, practicing,
and working with your stock weapons,
this is the best way for your group to train for
MULTIPLE SHTF SCENARIOS.

We camp on grounds for 2 nights straight
and have to keep watch all because the game is not
over. Until sundown and the third night.
There are 6 referees who keep count and
call if a shot was good or not if a player yells a check.
Everyone gets 5 lives after that your OUT.
Who ever has the most survivors win.

It is fun, great training in the works here.
IT brings us as friends and families closer.
The prep-per in all of us gets a go every year.

Great story bro, and some good info too. Although I do have to take exception to the comment about airsoft being paintballs little brother. Sorry to say, airsoft has passed paintball up, and left it far behind. Mil-sim is what we call it, not airsoft. From a training standpoint, mil-sim is far superior to paintball as far as real world training goes. Our group is loaded with current or former military and LEOs, and they use mil-sim to stay sharp and choose it over paintball, and that says something. Then again, it is still a far cry from "real". Engagement distances of less than 100 feet is not very realistic, but it sure is fun!

Did you just compare getting shot by a paintball to being shot by a bullet?

I beg to differ.
We are not ex-vets,
just ordinary citizens.
Some groups will differ slightly,
and this is not the end all be all to what
your group should choose to simulate in scenario..
Or what combat weapon you choose to use.
(as long as it is not laser tag) NO really though,
if laser tag
fits your group that is even an option..

Group needs will individually very.
The thing is to get your group out and active.
Practice, and find what fits you guys the best.
This is not a airsoft vs. paintball is better thread.
I have been shot with both NUMEROUS
times and a paintball especially when the ammo is kept
in fridges before play ALWAYS hurt more.
No it is not the pain of a bullet but it hurts a whole
lot worse then the little pokes you feel with an AIR SOFT.

That sounds like it's fun AND useful. Do you rent a portapotty or do you dig latrines for realism?

There are separate
*out houses*
scattered across the
scene.

Can not be hid in if find hiding
automatic kill.

By the time you open that door
you are fair game so you better have
back up!!!

Why not practice on the range with real ammo and guns, with a real recoil?
Why not try to stay out of sight...out of mind? Even have the refs try to find your location and you continue to bug out to BOL?
Then set up at BOL and do security patrols and posts for security. As you see the refs getting to you, then you call them on radio to say, hey you behind the oak tree I see you, and you don't see us. Your in the open, your out.

It could be fun, but to be realistic, you should avoid others at almost all cost...if your thinking the wild west is what its going to be like.

how it is done every year.
It is FUN, challenging, and gets us together,
in the spirit of surviving.
