Hey, Corvallis isn't too bad and a place I wouldn't mind travelling to every now and then. I wasn't necessarily expecting to find other interested Oregonians living right next door when I posted.

I'll PM you a little later if you want.

Why does everyone keep thinking some feces is going to hit the circular wind-maker?
the thought is pretty scary, but not a life threatening one :-)

I'm not expecting ANYTHING to happen; however, I feel it's my obligation to have the capability to protect others I care for. Plus it makes me more self-sufficient, therefore gives me a stronger peace of mind.

I just like being prepared, for myself and my family.

Yeah, that'd be great. I'd love to meet up sometime perhaps and kick ideas/knowledge off of each other. Let your wife know it's nothing die hard, just for informational purposes and meeting new people who share some similar interests.

I was thinking that, other than form a plan with the group I'm looking to get going, we could each study a skill or ideas and we share them during meetings.

Sounds like a good start...maybe I can PM you later?

Yeah, maybe when my wife and kids get over this damned respiratory infection I will have a little time to get out of the house!

Seriously, have you noticed more people being more sick than normal? I am biased because both my kids just started daycare and have been bringing all sorts of nasties home, but man, I would have expected things to clear up a little quicker?

Anyways, I think this is a good idea and I would definitely be down to meet over a beer (or whatever your beverage of choice) and kick ideas around.
edit on 2-2-2012 by UdonNiedtuno because: grammar!

Sounds like a good idea. With you and Chachi on board, that's 3 groups we can start with.

We'll have to find a time/place to meet up. Having 2 other groups to trust in and work with, should S ever HTF, is already a great start and, once we start meeting up, already exponentially increases our chances.

Have an old friend up that way Scott Smith who is opening a Survival School. Hes an Ex USAF SERE Instructor and is straight up legit. No Gia Utopia stuff just those skills you really need when you are isolated and in a bad way. I think the school is Mountain Shepherd. Any way if he is up and running you might want to check it out. Hes is a great guy and very humble as well as really knowing his stuff.
