I'm looking for or looking to start a survival group for a SHTF scenario.

Maybe we can meet every other week or every month to go over things and learn from each other various skills which might be needed should such a situation occur.

If S does HTF, then it'd be good to have people you can trust and rely on. I'm 30, in the OR Nat'l Guard, live just south of Portland, and know I can be an asset to a group of people who are prepared for bad circumstances.

Good thinking fellow Oregonian. I am probably too far away to be involved being down here in Corvallis, but I do like the idea. A community of like-minded people, with a variety of skill sets, can be a major player in the struggling world after the S has hit the F. I'll keep an eye on this thread and see what the responses are. Maybe I could head north every once in a while for a get-together.

If the SHTF ya'll will never see me or my family. The Kalmiopsis is tougher than those who would try and find me and mine.

Dang 4 hours away. I am a like minded person, but live a bit north Tri-cities wa area (Kennewick, Richland and Pasco area).

I have been learning about agriculture and composting recently.

Will be looking to purchase a fire arm and practice (defense and meat).

Will keep an eye on this. I am in PDX proper. I will have to ease my wife into the idea, but I have been plotting for quite some time. I can't afford to get much beyond planning stages at the moment, but definitely have some specific skills to lend, mainly foraging (forest foods), fishing and gardening.

Nothing wrong with being prepared. Worst thing if nothing happens (assuming you don't go off the deep end) is that you build up a nice store of essentials, pick up (and teach to your family) some valuable life skills.

Sure, keep me posted and send me a message. Corvallis isn't far really, but I thought I would at least mention it. My wife is understanding, and I started planning/prepping just prior to the Japan earthquake, with my main tie to a real situation being a potential earthquake here in the NW. I kid you not, the next day after saying that I wanted to be more prepared, the Japan quake happened. My wife changed her tune from skeptical to wanting to get it done soon. We didn't go crazy, but the basics.....food, water, defense, fire, warmth, etc. I get the wife challenge for sure, and now, even though she understands and gets being prepared for the most part, she still really wants nothing to do with it until the time comes. I think it is hard to think about for her. Not that she can't, but she is a positive person, and to really be prepared, you have to be able to think worst case scenario. Ignorance is bliss and all that. I'll let her be that way if it makes her happy, and I'll worry about the rest of it.

Don't call your group a survival group.

Call it a off grid group or a perparness group or you can find people you don't want joining your group like police informants and racist people that may cause your group real problems.

Just thought I'd bring this thread back to life.

Looks like we've got a total of 3 people interested so far.

Anybody else live in Oregon and want to look at starting up a survival group?
