Since the op gets called a war monger and spewing propaganda that means i get to call the dude and the people who said "we came we saw we killed gadafii" warmongers in libya.

That would be this current adminstration and their supporters.

Lets take that a step further.

I say China and Russia {Formerly Known as the Soviets} step up to the plate and take care of that mess! They were the ones who propped up and supported them in the first place. The West supported the South. Look at the two. The South is a much more open and prosperous society. North Korea? A Nuclear armed outcast that threatens their neighbors with {Total Destruction} and treats their citizens like crap.

The West should just hold the line {As it has been doing for 60+ years}

Thank you all. The wide variety of responses made me try to organize my thinking (no small feat). It seems like what we have is the following:

I want to help the people dying. Maybe if people knew about it.

They're not really dying, it's propaganda. No it's not, they really are dying

Our only choices are invasion or sanctions both hurt the people.
We can't interfere because their army will kill many more than are dying already, because it will cost too much, and because nobody really cares about the suffering poor.

Maybe they'll save themselves by overthrowing their government

Maybe we can get China to interfere, or Russia



All right, forget internal revolution, their army is too strong, the people are brainwashed, controlled, and starving. If they rise up, nobody can interfere to help them.(see above)

China and Russia interfering looks possible, but they need a motive. If they need the resources, they just buy them. That's not the motive.

But if China and Russia don't interfere, the people are now old news, they're dead, there is no way to save them.
So forget about trying to save them. Sanctions come back into play. If China and Russia want to prop the North up that will be a huge drain on their resources.

There is one other frightening possibility. Covert biological warfare. The people are toast anyway. Target the power centers and keep your fingers crossed.

Please don't think I am advocating any particular course of action, I'm just trying to stretch my tiny brain.
