February 2012 has an extra day, which makes me think of time.

Ever wondered what you'd do if you could go back and forth in time?

Me? I'd be playing Powerball with numbers I know will win.

What would you do?

All T&C's apply

Title must contain [TJWC]

Enter as many stories as you like, but post them as seperate threads in the Short Story forum.

No upper or lower word count limits

Any writing form acceptable

There will be three winners chosen, based solely on the number of flags their story receives from your fellow members.

The contest runs until midnight, February 29, 2012 and the winners announced the following morning of March 1.

Winners only will get writer status, 5 'applauses' each and included in the Showcase of Winners.

Yup. Sign me up!

I will definitely be a part of this one.
I always liked the idea of time travel.

Awesomeness.

I read them all, JAsay1Love, and consider hate to be a useless drain on my emotional wellbeing.

All sorts of paradoxical mayhem could be contrived from this topic. I'll just have to whip up an entry, or two, or.....

Good Luck everyone!

Delivered a 9-year-long monologue to a dormant supervolcano in a single morning. Ended up going to bed at about bloody party past window! Giant pea-shaped eggs from Cumbria that are for some reason called "electricity," though they're still green?

What?

He called her "udders" and demanded that she pass him the ceiling.

My first entry in an ATS writing contest. Long overdue I suppose.

Read it.

Gotta say, you sure got a quick response. "Don't kill yourself! The world doesn't matter!!!"

Good stuff.

Boncho, surely that is not your ONLY entry. We have a whole month to contribute.

Yes, I went there. Sorry. Good writing you have, delicious stuff. Write more.

WE want to read. You will be assimilated.

I'll see what I can do. I really should be doing more writing, I have been slacking as of late. I flagged your other thread btw, the hook to get people into it was priceless. Better than mine it seems.

The hook, ah yes, the trickiest part of these writing contests. It's a seemingly random event that is unexplainable, but the key to get members to read and flag.

What will they like today? Unknown. There's a plethora of good writing in these contests, but alas, it often goes unnoticed.

I'll be looking for more entries. You have talent, as many others do.

Can someone define the term "short" for me? I've read many short stories that last 50, 75, or even a hundred pages. (I think anything more than that becomes a novelette)

Do you decide by post count? Word count? etc etc. It would surely help, thanks in advance.

Flash fiction is usually 500-1500 words, a short story is considered around 2000-8000. There are no word limits with this contest though (As mentioned in the OP) , so it is up to you to write how short or how long you want.

I would say most entries fall under the flash fiction category, as have my own. But it's up to you, which makes it a flexible challenge.
