I checked out the interview it has with him and on it he says the objects were above each wing about 20 centimeters above, and about 1.5 meters away from the fuselage.

Thanks for the post mate and I agree this one certainly is an interesting case -the close range object description (and witness intimidation) aspect is really intriguing and there's also a great clip below from an upcoming documentary about the incident.

It interviews Air Traffic Controller Julio Cesar Diaz who was on duty at the radar terminal when the pilot radioed in stating that he was surrounded by the UFOs and features actual tape recordings of the transmissions - the ATC also mentions how one of the objects made 'a sharp 270 degree left turn in a radius of only 3 to 4 miles' which was a maneuver never witnessed by him or any of his colleagues before and Dr Richard Haines from NARCAP also discusses the radar confirmation aspect.

one of the most intriguing UFO case along with valentich and the 3808 disappearance , though in this case the plane and pilot is safe

both the valentich and N3808 seem like the UFO phenomena (if its indeed UFO phenomena) purposefully terrorized the pilot and make them crash into the ocean. The case here seems like the UFOs escorting the plane , as if the plane was entering their region.. the bethune-gander incident plane , where the plane stumbled upon lights on the sea and then got escorted out of the area by a large disc flying near the plane in formation..

Such was the confusion on trying to guess their motivation from behaviour.. some of stuff i think may be related are :

- is it related to the region / geography ? any peliculiarity on the region ?
- whats the historical significance of the site/geography ? any old / ancient tales about the region ?
- is it related to the person piloting the aircrafT ? it seems this case have a strange MIB element in it that threaten the pilot to shutup.. but no paranormal/occult stuff (except the MIB encounter).
- how many small planes encounter these kind of strange encounter without the pilot bother reporting (assuming he/she is alive after encounter).

ok i was wrong.. based in this interview, the pilot said he encounter paranormal stuff including meeting a small being later...

so this is a standard UFO encounter then... a sighting and followed up by paranormal high strangeness...

Carlos Antonio: Yes (the discussion turns to paranormal phenomena and the encounters he had with a very short person, having human features but possibly of alien origin. Unlike the Men in Black, this being behaved courteously)

All great questions there my friend and you're not wrong about this case having parallels with the Bethune incident (and N3808H) - haven't had any time to post lately but did see the new full version of the documentary was put up on Youtube, it states that it's not available in my country but is it working for anyone else ?

jokes aside , i still cant believe how many UFO case have a follow up paranormal type experience after the sighting... The Doctor X case from Aime Michel / J.Vallee is one prime example which the paranormal experience getting stranger and stranger and more unbeliavable and even the witness said that he only told the experience to aime michel/JV because if they didnt knew him before all the incidents he wont be believed at all..

then again after reading the portugese airforce pilots encounter , i dont know ... (3 pilots flying 2 planes on training flight met a small UFO circling their planes)... no more information if these pilots also experience paranormal high strangeness after the sighting..

Great point Milo and perhaps, if these pilot witnesses actually do experience paranormal/high strangeness activity after their UFO encounters, they'd be even more reluctant to report it due to the already existing ridicule factor involved in 'seeing a UFO' (I know I would be).

The Portuguese Airforce pilot UFO incident you mention is also a fascinating one and Spacevisitor made a great thread about it here (not many replies but no surprise there):
