but I would say the
Perseids during August, are probably the best beginner shower, as
they can be seen over many nights around the peak on the 12/13.
This year is likely to be a good one I think. Even so, observers should plan to be out for at least a few hours (all night is better!), over two or
three nights for a real taste of what a meteor shower like the Perseids has to offer.
I'm sure there will be a thread over on the space exploration forum closer to the time, but if you want to plan ahead, plan your summer to be as far
away from any city/town/village lights as you can during the peak and the run up to the peak if you can- it makes a huge difference when observing
meteors.
I've been observing Perseids for well over a decade, and they really fail to disappoint, where as the Lyrids can be a bit more hit and miss.
