ATS A Conspiracy Site. Why Are You Surprised?

Seriously I have to get this out. What is the deal with people coming to ATS to ask the following.

"Why does everything have to be a conspiracy?"

WHAT??!!

What could your reason possibly be? Of course this isn't for those who lurk, but those that took the time to get a screen name, probably took more time to find an avatar, and are members. Why did you join?
Compulsion? A dare? Maybe the voices in your head told you to.

If for some reason you found ATS, and wanted to know more, if you search this site on any search engine this is what you will find.

Above Top Secret is a news discussion forum created by Simon Gray in 1999 as a discussion board for conspiracy, and a site for general information about conspiracy topics.

Here is an example of what I am ranting about.

Me (NRE)- Lord of the rings was actually a story that had some truth, concerning hobbits.

You (XXXX)- I saw Lord of the rings once, and I have rings, so it cant be true. Why would you find conspiracy in this?

Me (NRE)- Here is a link about the story along with paintings, its so cool to see that.

You (XXXX)- Um I have a camera, and Photoshop. This is obviously an attempt to disrespect the little people.

Me (NRE)- Here is a PDF about the original script, some might enjoy it.

You (XXXX)- My library says that this is not true, and is in the fiction section, so I dont see how you have anything to go by. I have confirmed this at home, and by the way, I also worked at a movie theater, and we never, not even ONCE seen a hobbit there.

Me (NRE)- Why are you still writing on this thread? I get that you dont agree, but its getting a little much.

You (XXXX)- Oh I'm here to make sure that you do not spread your lies, all you have is a PDF, paintings, and evidence, BUT I have movie theater experience, a library, and a camera, and I called it, someone has to tell the truth.

Of course this is a fictional back and forth, but seriously this is almost daily on some level.

I agree. There seems to be no discussion at times. Just insults.

Oh. Yeah, asking why you're posting a conspiracy on a conspiracy site is kind of silly.

And I don't know if you're going for this, but I see another point in how sometimes the "skeptic" makes less sense than the conspiracy person.

An observation that does need to be pointed out from time to time, as membership grows and changes over time. It makes you wonder at times if some of these geniuses are here on purpose to divert attention.

The motto of the site is "Deny Ignorance", not "Happily accept every crackpot theory that people post."
I think folks need to get some thicker skin.
If you post, expect someone to question you.
Questioning and being very, very skeptical is exactly how ignorance is denied.

The burden of proof is on the OP.
Without adequate evidence/proof/heavily researched argument, the OP will be upset because, in fact, he/she should not have been posting in the first place.

If the subject of the OP is speculative, they should explicitly say so. If it is opinion, ditto. And in those cases, you will definitely be opening a wormcan of arguments. If one is posting here so that everyone can tell them how intelligent and insightful they are, they are at the wrong site.

I joined to discuss relevant current events. And share my opinions with rational like minded people.

As for the delusional "retards" out there?..

I'm not surprised... I'm just disgusted. Hahaha.

I dono man, seems like we can find anything we want to and ,Like, just the answer we were lookin for. You know like maybe we have a compass or something on the inside of the monitor that we cant see but we go looking and they know just what we want.
There is just something wrong with that. Its not Objective, its Subjective.
one guy brings a link that the Hebrews are Gods children and someone else comes up with the Zionists are the ZI in nazi....
