Hey guys,

Me and my friend were driving on Jan 29,2012 at 3am to get some food. Suddenly there was a bright blue flash in the sky, covered up about 40% of the sky view. I am located NJ east coast US. I checked to see if there is any thunderstorm rolling around, but nope, sky was clear and it was 29 deg, so deff no thunderstorm. It was similar flash like this pic www.cynical-c.com..., but i didn't see the bright object, i just saw the bright light that it happened to create.

I am posting this bec that was a big meteor wherever it landed, and it could have posed a threat to land, not sure, how big it was, but it was really bright. If you guys have any info on this please post it up.

I possibly think it was this asteroid , which was suppose to flyby Earth on jan 27 at 0.2 Lunar distance, they said this will not enter Earth, but what if it did. What if they were fooling us of the date, and the object was suppose to come around the 29.

13 M asteroid would have looked like a nucear explosion, and filed up the entire sky with light, if it entered our atmosphere, so we can rule that one out.

Your on the East Coast, I'm assuming the flash came from out east? It cold be a helicopter with a search light off the coast? It could be a ship shooting a flare?

Hmm just some ideas. Whats the region known for?

An exploding electrical transformer perhaps. They tend to light up the sky.

hmmmm really interesting, but it was only blue light, no red or yellowish, or white, only blue to light blue and it covered about 40-50 % of sky, and no major power outages were reported at all.

They look quite blue/light blue in the first video.
It wouldn't necessarily cause a widespread power outage.
But I didn't see it, you did.

Blue flash in the sky.....hmmmm could be a multitude of things.

The light may not have come from the sky, it could be a piece of electrical equipment blowing up/shorting out etc.

@37 seconds.

Could be a transformer exploding..?

I swear I read somewhere yesterday in thread about colors in the sky.. I'll try to find this. I think this had something to do with earthquakes

heh.. your avatar is a bit of a coincidence hey? and why post under 2012? I smell fish. If you did see something, it would have been a meteor more than likely. They are usually picked up by more than one person though and there is often CCTV footage sent in to the news.

P.S. Getting food at 3am on a Monday morning?!
