Before I get into this, All of the plants, industry, and basically jobs started disappearing years ago before obama (Im pro Paul)...This isnt about that.
I live in a coastal beach town on the east coast . Our main attraction was always the pavilion for a really long time. Pretty cool rides, right there at the beach, was always packed with families and kids having fun and was cheap, tourists could walk to it, perfect setup. Some idiots a few years ago decided to remove it and invest in some stupid
"hard rock theme park" way away from the beach,,way too far to walk to pay 50 dollars to get in .So now its condemned just sitting there, no amusement here but the original pavilion that is like 60 years old....
The plan was to use the space where this pavilion was removed from on the beach and build a casino. Imagine that, JOBS!!! this beach could be rockin like Vegas but NO!!! BIBLETHUMPERS WONT HAVE IT..this place could have full hotels !! lots of jobs!!! BUT NO!! BIBLETHUMPERS WONT HAVE IT !!!! so here we are, cold winter NO JOBS, hotels empty and it could be way better..

I feel your pain. I have asked and no one has been able to point to the scripture (so far as of yet as it might exist) where it says gambling is a sin.

People either argue its there and can't find it, its not in there, or they are polite and say they need to research and disappear never to be heard from again.

Watch me get inundated with the scripture verse now that I post this

Sounds like a state issue.

Not a religious issue. Take it up with your Rep.

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!????????????? MODS? F&*@^ing close this thread now! This is based on hate, ignorance, and shill BS. How many of these threads are going to be tolerated in the name of "Rant"? If the title were Niggers", "Fags", "Spicks", etc. are partially responsible for job loss, How long would it last? The "CASINO" issue, which I am quite familiar with living in Baltimore, MD, is an issue of praying on the weaknesses and hopes of low income people and addiction! NOT religion... at least the majority of those in objection to it. I'm gay, Christian, and in favor of casinos! But really? What has ATS become? I remember threads going 20 pages with civil, authentic discussions of differences, conspiracy theories, and alternative info! NOT this sophomoric " I'm gonna use this forum to figure out who I am crap by making inflammatory statements and see how many stars I get" or "Is my viewpoint valid based on the responses I get" BS! These kind of "Rant" threads are becoming all too common across the board and really belong in the "self actualizing" zone of the individual or other sites. They really do nothing except polarize and promote thug mentality. I apologize to the OP if this was an innocent inquiry but DAMN! Do you even think about what you say, EVER?, before you say it? Is your world THAT SMALL? These kind of narrow minded statements/inquiries directly align you with the very christian fundamentalist BS you abhor! This is a rant I know...

I hear ya on that one. The state of Texas still won't legalize gambling, and it pisses off a lot of people, me included. But, I am sure you already know that casinos, even after what they pay out to workers and for expenses, will still take way more money from the people than they make.

Some will say, well people who don't really have the money to spend shouldn't be gambling...If that is the case, then maybe that is why they haven't built a casino yet. I'm just throwing ideas out by the way, and I could be wrong.

But, despite all that, the state does tax casinos, and because of that, in the case of Texas at least, that could be millions upon millions of dollars which could be spent on something useful, like education, which they have cut back on in Texas for whatever reason...Probably because Rick Perry is an idiot.
