Ok, nothing to out there but could someone tell me what these features are on the Moon. It appears they are Veins or Valleys carved by a liquid? Is / was that possible? Or are they lava tube type features?

Moon, north pole......ish!
Just came across it, but I had never seen lines like this before. Are the lines in a crater or on a mount?

God almighty help the human race please if you exist.

Does anyone out there with a 1st grade education think the resolution of this moon image can be taken with one exposure?

They merge swath passes, no wider than 2 kms. Jesus Christ!

In doing research the only thing I came up with is the freezing and thawing of water. I applaud your curiosity and willingness to look over the moon so closely.

Bloody hell mate, every time you choose to humiliate me you always bring education into the subject. (Every post you choose to comment on actually) As far as I am aware you don't know me?

I started the post with a legitimate question. I would prefer a legitimate answer.

I may have a difference of opinion to you on many things, but on this my friend I was asking for your help.

Having a bad day?

Lava is a type of viscous liquid so it's not really an either/or question, it's both.

And the features are called Rilles. I think they are generally collapsed lava tubes but that link has a little more on them. I find them fascinating.

Leading theories include lava channels, collapsed lava tubes, near-surface dike intrusion, nuee ardente (pyroclastic cloud), subsidence of lava-covered basin and crater floors, and tectonic extension. On-site examination would be necessary to clarify exact methods.

You're welcome captain.

One reason I think these features may be of particular interest if they are collapsed lava tubes, is that there are also likely to be some lava tubes which haven't collapsed. These uncollapsed lava tubes may be a prime candidate for constructing an underground moon base with ready-made shielding from both radiation and micrometeoroids. This would possibly save a lot of time in constructing shelters to perform the same function on the moon's surface.

But it's also mind-boggling to try to imagine the moon billions of years ago when lava was flowing on or near the surface of the moon, when these Rilles formed.

Yeah, you are probably right. Would not be surprised if this was / is the plan.

I see Obama has cut funding for the new Moon missions? Mmmmmm?

I guess this is what the OP is referring to?

And yes, I agree, it looks like rilles to me.

(just showing the image for the people who don't have the internet bandwidth)
