If these are supposed to be the almighty world trembling sounds of revelation they would seem to be a disappointment.

Is god on a budget? He needs to talk to Michael Bay, he creates horrifying spectacles at least once a year.

The real argument to be had is not the sound of the noise but whether we are to BELIEVE that actual trumpets are the source and not flugelhorns, cornets, tubas and other brass instruments. I know tubas are much heavier and less convenient to carry while flying but as we all know, angels can do most anything.

And since it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the bible is the literal words of god and not a collection of books and writings written and compiled by man, I guess we have to take trumpets to mean trumpets in the end.

It's too bad since the flugelhorn has such a beautiful sound. Flutes would be just silly though.

Here's the deal OP.

When a child is born, it comes into the world with pure awareness & a mind ready to start cataloging experience. Parents & society then begin to add "knowledge" to the child's mind, filtered through their own bias, fear, experience, feelings, beliefs. It happens today just as it's been happening for ages. The child grows and adapts and if they get the chance to question things without being shutdown emotionally or physically, they then have the chance to learn the truth about their world. The dogma, belief and tradition start to crumble under the weight of reality and the mind begins to come back to a point of awareness rather than a state of belief.

You and your aunt can argue all day about trumpets, parting of seas, and other greater or lesser biblical events. But start to understand the human psychology and learn by understanding and exploring self and ego--using life as a mirror, then your Revelation questions become nearly irrelevant to your present moment. Your eyes become opened to a real peace that surpasses all understanding and your begin to realize that the program is like using DOS in a Linux world. Break down your paradigms and don't be afraid of nonconforming to current belief.

I was lucky to get the equivalent of a PhD in theology and religion starting from day one. I prayed for three things my whole life: wisdom, understanding & discernment. That single prayer took me on a forty-plus year journey and ultimately the god I was praying to was destroyed in the process. The symbol for god should be a question mark. I don't doubt in mystery and beings, creators and powers beyond us. I do, however understand human wiring enough to know that much like the b.s. we sift through today via politics & news is the same regardless of the era. Learn to quiet the chatter mind and operate from a point of consciousness and the illusions start to fade fast.

It's interesting to see how todays christians accept "The revelation" as "fact" and the inspired word of God, when even many EARLY CHURCH FATHERS rejected it and it was not accepted as inspired until a much later time.

It is in fact a writ by an anonymous author who based his writings on those of Daniel, and changed them slightly to incorporate Jesus in them.

As for 7 trumpets:

Well, there is actually only ONE trumpet - and that is the destruction of the universe - then another one, when everybody is resurrected. - But that is another topic.

Regarding the sounds: I do not think these qualify neither as the 7 trumpets nor as the one.

If the sounds are real, they would qualify more as another prophecy. But that one is not from the Bible.

I don't think it has anything to do with any religion or bible mumbo jumbo. I've heard the sky quakes too. I'm on the west coast and there's a lot of talk about it. It isn't the second coming of christ or anything to do with the bible. It's to do with the atmosphere and global warming. Why is it when anything to do with the weather all the religious freaks come out?

I'm not sure about the history of the word trumpet.
I'm not sure how it was meant in the Bible way back then.
Trumpet could just be a loud noise that introduces something.

If I were in 2000bc and I heard a UFO, and trumpet was the closest thing I knew to that sound, I might call it a trumpet. KWIM?

But really, I don't think it's the end of the world Revelations. That doesn't mean though that ancient people living in earthquake zones might not have learned that these loud sounds came before mass destruction.
