I love that he is anti-war....i love that he wants to bring all the troops home....but i believe in SS...I believe in Medicare...i believe in the federal minimum wage...I believe in Amber Alerts....I believe a united country is a stronger country.

I don't agree with all of his positions either. I disagree with him on selling the Federal Parks land, and I like Newt's immigration policy better, it is closer to My Own view on immigration, but....

I don't believe in SS, we already have welfare programs, and private retirement accounts, and historically private investments outperform SS at least 4 to 1, and they take the responsibility out of government's hands, and we all know government is the worst place to let money be managed.

I do believe in some regulations, I don't know if we need a Federal Min Wage, it does create inflation, it does hinder young workers from getting entry level jobs, etc. A truly free market would set its own minimum wage, but we still need some regulations on work conditions, we can't become China or Malaysia with mandatory overtime and toxic conditions and suicide nets outside the windows. I trust Paul has the common sense to know where to draw the line.

Amber Alerts are worthless. They were GREAT for about 2 weeks. It was 2 weeks before I saw the first one in Florida where one parent had the kid, and it was supposed to be the other parent, and the kid was in no danger, but law enforcement was scrambling like it was a real kidnapping. I haven't paid attention to another one since then. Once we fix the family issues, and child support issues, and divorce issues, and custody issues, then MAYBE we can try to set some priorities and create an Amber Alert that will actually work.

But, overall, do you feel Obama would be the best president, even with Paul in the picture?

Personally, I believe the country will enter a deep depression, food lines, and riots before the end of a second Obama term, and I voted FOR Obama the first time around, but he has done exactly the opposite of the things I heard during his campaign, and he has driven the country into seriously dangerous territory economically, and too many people are reliant on government checks, when the government is reaching its credit limit every 3 to 6 months and accelerating!! If you look at a graph of the government debt, it is a clearly exponential line, and we are now on the vertical portion lf the line that extends to infinity. There is no hope of the status quo lasting another 4 years. Even 1 more year is looking less and less likely. What will the people do when the government checks don't show up, or nobody will cash them?

Currently, as I was born and grew up in Indiana, I watch with a heavy heart as many of my friends are about ready to get whacked by Mitch Daniels, the current governor of Indiana....as he's going to make it a right to work state. He was also GEORGE BUSH'S BUDGET DIRECTOR. I can't believe that they elected they guy who watched as we started 2 unpaid wars (and kept them OFF the books), overseen drastic tax cuts...building up the debt...and now CRITICIZES OBAMA for the same thing as he was the one who did the rebuttal to Obama's state of the union speech. I couldn't believe it.

Regardless...

He campaigned that he wouldn't do anything to unions because he would start a "Civil War" in Indiana...and they actually SUPPORTED his governorship...and now he's going to screw them. Should have known better.

They shouldn't be called "thugs". These are people...still making MADE IN THE USA PRODUCTS, with children, that are going to get screwed. But in the end...it won't just be them.....unions raise the wage ceiling for the middle class.....the average wage for indiana workers will go down...and the poverty rate will increase...as will need for government assistance.

Feel horrible about it....and for those who are wondering...I'm not in a union myself...and no longer live in Indiana.

Edited for tons of grammatical errors for my continued weakness of thinking far faster than I can type..lol

Good to see you return to ATS David and you couldn't have picked a better time to do it, the opposition is hot & heavy and us Obama supporters need all the help we can get. My keyboard has been smokin lately just trying to keep up with responding to post from his haters.

I too will be voting for Obama come November and I agree with everything in your OP. I too agree with some of Ron Paul's positions but he also holds many positions that I just can't bring myself to vote for. (one of my favorites is one of his newest, which was that maybe we should send most of our current politicians to Newt's moon base, for good!)

Right now, I'm just wondering whether or not to invest in some Kleenex stock before it starts going up, because I have a sneaky feeling there's going to be a lot of crying going on come November 7th..

Have you noticed the strength of our nation lately? Without RP I'm not sure what will be left. I don't understand the logic of some Americans, unless I take a look around it helps me understand how things can get so out of hand. Obama/Bush are destroying the Republic, gutting it from the inside out. Why is this so hard to understand? More and more people turn to Dr. Paul because he is the epitomy of what a U.S. president should stand for. The mere fact that TPTB try to ignore him should tell anyone with any thought-process left THEY ARE AFRAID OF HIM. His policies stand to eliminate their power over this nation and stand to eliminate the chokehold of wars and executive orders that have left us a shell of what we once were.

This is your last chance America, you can't say he didn't warn you. Been doing it for decades, guess what , HE'S RIGHT!! Some just can't accept that.

Haters??? yo, he is as much an enemy of America as anyone. What else do you people need to see, actual FEMA camps being filled with your neighbors and relatives because they disobeyed his commands?

You just got to shake sense into people sometimes. He had his chance, got his Obamacare and NDAA and expanded wars in the middle east. Enough!!!!

WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK...Ron Paul

Sorry, but when Obama loses, Obamacare will also lose. And uncontrollable weeping wasn't going to be covered anyway. (It's a pre-existing condition brought about by Clinton)

I couldn't agree with you more with respect to the Clinton syndrome and I thought your diagnosis was quite funny, but I doubt that we will witness the total demise of Obamacare.

Most of Obamacare is really pretty good, like no more pre-existing conditions, keeping our children covered in our plans while they attend college, etc... The primary issue being brought before the courts is the individual mandate to purchase insurance through a private carrier which is something the democrats never wanted to begin with, that little element of the plan was inserted by the republican party via their "privatize everything" mentality.

Just remember the idea for a personal mandate to purchase private insurance originated with the Heritage Foundation and the republican party. Newt was a huge supporter, just like most republicans. It wasn't until Obama gave in to their demands to include it in the Affordable Health Care Act that they decided it was suddenly unconstitutional. Democrats and/or progressives wanted a "single-payer" Medicare-For-All plan as our first choice but we would have accepted a "Public Option" as a compromise, we got neither.

Once the SCOTUS rules against the current mandate, (for the record, I agree that it's unconstitutional to require someone to purchase coverage through a "Private" carrier) I feel confident that we will morph Obamacare into one of the options originally favored by the democrats and most of America.

Not to detract too much on the thread topic, but Obamacare is akin to treating an ingrown toenail with bone saws and chemo.

There are problems with the medical system. But you don't fix a leaky car tire with a nail gun.

(I'm old, I can get away with these pithy sayings)

In terms of war, not sure. Paul wants to bring ALL troops home....Obama is currently bringing many of our brave soldiers home. I have a friend in the military...he tells me they all hate Obama and call him a socialist trying to destroy the USA....and whenever he goes into his work (military of course) Fox News is always on television.

As for the second part I quoted...I'm tired of doom and gloom....and I've taken part in it in the past.

At least as long as I've been posting here...that's all it's been.

We need to stop being so negative....we need to stop attacking ourselves constantly....because we are all in this together.

Let me ask you this...

When a family member is down on his luck without his own fault.....do you help them? I know I do.

Ultimately, this country is family. We need to take care of each other.....not turn our heads for those who need help.....but that is the mentality we have. There was a time it wasn't that way. We need to find that again.

And to end this....you are certainly one of the better people on ATS. Not once have you ever been nasty with me....i do appreciate it.

but I do have to ask you...

If a GOP was Prez right now....would any troops have came home...any at all? Everytime I watch a debate they are talking about screwing with another country...especially Santorum...WOW.

That man is flat out SCARY. I'm tired of war....I think most of us are...and that's why i understand why so many gravitate to Ron Paul.

He was handed the biggest economical, political mess in history, I am no politician but I don't think you have to be one to see it is extremely hard to get policies past when there is such a split with the parties. It's amazing he accomplished what he did dealing with so many fronts at one time. I don't see how there can be an argument with the state of the union address, It's common sense, and 99.9% of the time, common sense is the best plan to follow.
The bottom line is The Right wing is about the 1% of the population that make over a million dollars a year,
because of there wealth, they do not live in reality. If you are in the 1% and believe you should not pay the same
percentage of taxes as the rest of the working world, I feel sorry for you, for you do not have a helping, caring, sharing bone in your body.
We have to strengthen our middle class, it's the only way to have a strong, stable, economy.
I know there is a lot more to our economy, this is Just a simple, basic example of a micro town.
Let's say you had a million dollars to start a mini town of 10 families, all 4 people 2 parents,2 children.
if you gave 1 family 900,000.00 and you gave the other 11,000 each, how long would it be before there would
be a feud between the 9 of the families begging to do anything to get in the door and beg for work of the rich family and the power they would have over the 9 families.
if all the families start with 100,000.00 after a while some might have more than others but there would circular
harmony between them.
