Bottom line - an organized party that can stand there and tell me that if I fall down, there should not be anyone to help me back up on my feet again is not a party that I would ever support. If that party has proven that they will rush to bail out the predators who just knocked me down (example - the 2008 Bush/Paulson GOP-structured TARP program) then I'm sure that I won't be supporting that party.

It's as simple as that.

Yes, Obama hasn't been able to defeat the GOP and their corporate owners, and has had to knuckle under at times over the last 3 years (like the rest of us) but he's not the guy who's been doing the Treasury raids. He's not the guy who's been slamming us up against the wall. He's not the guy who's been hoarding over 2.5 trillion dollars and allowing the rest of us to fight each other over minimum wage service industry jobs, after ripping apart our future by turning our entire economy into a high-stakes gambling casino that's funded on the backs of every wage earning tax payer in this country. He's the guy who's being attacked by the guys that have been running our nation into the ground.

Listen up. You pay-per-post forum marketing subcontractors need to really look at who you're defending here. Those guys who pay for your posts are fighting to screw you over. You aren't rich or you wouldn't be on this board working for 50 cents a post. You need to start fighting for your own future and the future of your loved ones. Get your focus off the trough the corporates placed in front of you and start fighting for your dignity as a human being who won't be hoodwinked by the same predators who put you in this position where posting obvious nonsense on an Internet forum is the only job you can get. It sucks to be broke and scared, but working for them won't do anything for you but prolong the misery they have in store for you and for the rest of us. They're going to crash and burn eventually. They always do in the end. If you stay with them, then you will too. That doesn't have to happen for you. You can choose to disengage yourself.

The choice is easy when you eliminate the fear and the anger that the corporate media has fueled with its marketing campaign against "change". Obama can't change anything on his own, but any one of the GOP leaders that exists right now is devoted to erasing all possibility of change as soon as possible. We don't have much of a chance of freeing ourselves from corporate rule with Obama, but we have no chance whatsoever with one of the GOP candidates. The choice, like I said, is easy.

He is completely in bed with his banking masters from Goldman Sachs, wake up. He cares no more about you than Newt/Mitt. He is a 100% bought and paid for president as they all are. There is no choice, only the illusion of choice, there is no lesser evil or any of that nonsense, they all play for the same team and you're not apart of it.

False. It is the laziness of the population that allows such special interests to take forefront in affairs.

Oh! That is true but also true that tyrants surpress the unwashed masses.
What is a King or Queen historically but one who could raise an army and force their laws on all through violence and fear.
People are brainwashed to believe what main stream media spews forth - They could be said to be more victims of deciet than lazy. Look at who owns MSM who owns the issuence of currency who is exempt from taxes who are these people - and who the hell do they think they are - Change you can be decieved by should have been Obamas tele promoted message

Since the late 90s, few actually believe the media 100%.

Dictators find it ever harder to control people through lies. The advent of wide-spread knowledge of how to read and write was one major move to defeat lies. The internet is the most recent.

While dictators always find a way to hold power, the modern dictator rarely can do so on lies.

So then, if it doesn't matter at all, I'll just vote for him because he's not an idiot or a psychopath, like Mitt and Newt respectively. Also, his winning freaks out the fundies and the crackers, and makes people like you froth with fear and loathing. That's plenty enough reason for me to vote for him. If I get a cookie tossed my way as a result of his being re-elected, the that'll be okay too. I don't expect anything from anyone, but I'll be goddamned if I'll vote for a babbling fool like Romney or a megalomaniacal bag of gas like Gingrich. You go ahead and do what you like, but don't try and convince me to allow either of those freaks to drive this bus. No way.

How about not choosing to be beat at all? Yes, that is also an option in the voting system. Don't vote.
edit on 28-1-2012 by vasaga because: (no reason given)

That's a choice, true. But then you must do something in its place that will affect change. What might that be? 'Posting on the internet' doesn't count. Simply throwing up our hands and sighing 'they're all the same' lets the political establishment off the hook, because we've bought into the cynicism that's in the worst of them and refuse to hold them to account. Why then should they even think of changing in response to public opinion? We get the government we deserve.

It is horrifying to see how retarded the general public is, and how they are falling for this Punch and Judy show.

Isn't it strange that the GOP cannot field any candidate that is even remotely qualified? Just a gang of incompetent crooks. Therefore, the entire herd of idiots will "vote" for the existing robot, because that is what TPTB want you to do.

And why are there so many people saying, "Ron Paul is the best candidate, but HE CAN'T WIN so I will vote for the Obamination." If all those people would actually VOTE for him he could win. But the TV tells you not to "waste your vote" on him. Because, even if he wins the election for real, Obama will still be proclaimed the "winner" no matter what. And then the fraud would become too evident. But Ron Paul is simply controlled opposition, to make those that are somewhat aware of the swindle think that they actually have some say in the matter.

No one can defeat King Obama. Resistance is futile. You will be Obamanated. Might as well vote for him anyway, the selection has already been made. That way you morons will think your vote means something.

Good post. I agree. TPTB have already decided to keep Obama in for their own purposes. I don't trust Ron Paul at all. It just amazes me that there are so many Obama & Ron Paul supporters on ATS.

It's true the Ron Paul supporters are delusional, but I can respect their reaching for real change. But the Obama supporters....

Well, people are treating Ron Paul like they treated Obama in 2008.

RP is their "savior" and like Obama, he too will let people down.

Of course, the Paulbots will never listen to this. Believe me, been flamed a few times for even suggesting it!

I do not understand the logic behind your statement. its people like you who believe the government should take care of everyone through entitlement programs. Fundamentally, Ron Pauls views are more principled and I agree with him that people should take care of themselves.

And if you think RP supporters are delusional...well, lets just say to respond with a rebuttal, would argue that your ridiculous statement is deserving of a response.

When will people finaly understand that to vote for the "lesser evil" is just plain stupid !!

You should vote for the one you want to represent you. If you dislike the candidates of both side (which should be normal, considering this 2 party paradgigm) than voe for a third party ! Or make a write-in and vote for yourself..

But voting Obama just because the GOP candidates are lame in you view is not intelligent and makes no sense. Obama will be re-elected and the majority of the people will not support him (despite havng voted for him in your case).

Unless you vote for a third party you sgould not complain about either of two big parties..
.

You worked the 2000 Bush campaign, didn't you? All the Nader promoters in that election put Bush in the WH, and some of them never learned their lesson. Too bad, because so far we've lost at least 10 trillion dollars over that idiotic 3rd party strategy, and where is Nader? Nowhere, that's where. And he never even stayed in the effort to preserve any form of Progressive movement in this country. He just walked off like the pussy that he is and always has been.

3rd party protest votes are like breaking up with a girlfriend before she gets fed up enough with you to break up with you. It's childish and pathetic, and nothing ever comes of it. No grown-ups ever waste their vote like that. Only college freshmen and other rookies at life.

Do what you want, but don't think you're doing anything to improve anything for the rest of us by trying to convince people to walk off on their one tiny part in helping our recovery come about. It's voter suppression, and nothing more, and this society needs as many voting this time around as possible and legal.

Then let them get beaten with iron. They are the ones who are voting for it. If no one votes, we will solve a lot of problems. Unfortunately, people still believe in this delusion.

You're constantly talking about iron vs wood, but how do you know one is iron and one is wood? Politicians lie all the time, we know that. Their actions do not represent their words, so, why would you believe anything they say, and how can you judge if anything is wood or iron when things are like this? Choosing the lesser evil is saying that being shot in the leg is better than being shot in the chest. Why choose shooting in the first place? Stop cooperating with the system.

Do not waste your vote on a "lesser evil". It matters not if you're a Republican or Democrat, the bottom line is we need to get the right man in the White House. We can't afford to make a mistake.

Heya jam.

Looks like you have taken a similar path as I have. I thought some of Obama's policies that he would like to put forth were great.

Cutting down student loan interest....that's a good thing.
Letting people who are CURRENT on their mortgage refinance to the record low rates.

Those 2 things alone would bring a huge influx of cash flowing right into the economy. I thought the program he suggested of helping get our soldiers jobs after they return home was also a great idea....that came from his speech the other night.

Bin Laden is dead....there have been NO attacks on this country since he has become President...and he's done far better militarily than Bush could have ever hoped of being...troops have been coming home...and to top it all off...he's SLASHING military spending by 500 billion dollars.

Really, i think his second term will be vital for the country...and in the end Republicans will have to begin some type of compromise instead of blocking literally EVERYTHING....as an Obama win will show that most people have revoked the craziness that has happened to that party....who put ending Obama's presidency above the entire country.

I can already see the ads that are going to run...with McConnell stating "My top priority is to make Obama a one term President." Then you'll see Rush Limbaugh's quote, "I want Obama to fail!". All of this while the economy was in freefall.

Haven't posted in awhile...so hello everyone and hope everything is going well for you all.

Now, to the point: Why? Some of you probably already thought I would based on my most recent posts...although I have never came out screaming as a full blown Obama supporter....i used to be a STRONG STRONG advocate against him...as many here will know.

Times change...opinions change.

First: Quite frankly, all the Republican candidates are complete disasters...yes, i know many here are Ron Paul supporters, but it is simply not possible for Ron Paul to win the nomination....and should he have become a threat...you'd see what happened to Gingrich happen to him. The establishment will get what it wants...that's how it is for the GOP.

Second: Despite all of the craziness that has happened the last few years, through all the hatred, the hard times, the uncertainly...much of which still exists.....WE ARE ALL STILL HERE.

Third: Some of us are struggling...some are not....and although the situation could be much better...it could certainly be FAR FAR WORSE.....even with all of the obstruction and a do nothing Congress and Senate that we have.

Fourth: The middle class is in the middle of a collapse...wealth disparity has exploded. I look at our prior history, the middle class was the strongest when tax rates were the highest for the most wealthy. The last 30 years we have completely gone in the opposite direction....now most families...both parents have to work....affecting the time we can spend with our children. It has to change....we cannot blame everything on the education system....much of the problem can be cast on both parents having to work (because wages have not kept up with inflation). But to the point, Obama wants to head in the direction of raising taxes on the highest earners...and i support it.

Fifth: Obama HAS brought troops home....it's not exactly what I want (i'm more in line with Paul on his foreign policy..although not completely)....but it's certainly better than all of the current Republican candidates that are electable. He has also curbed military spending...which is a great thing.

I could go on....but that's where I am currently. I want my friends, neighbors, family, and my country...to be strong again....and it's in MY OPINION that the current crop of Republicans will set us on a pace for disaster....and that is why I'm voting for Obama.

I understand that our deficit sits at 15 trillion. I understand it has grown since he has came into office. Quite frankly, I BELIEVE that there is no way he could simply slash spending...or even raise taxes on the wealthiest...while the economy was in a tailspin. Some drastic measures had to be taken.....many of which i was COMPLETELY AGAINST.

It's going to be a crazy year....I'm actually predicting an easy victory...should the economy at least remain stable. Usually Presidents do their major policies in their second term.....they have nothing to lose and can try to do far more bolder things than in their first term.

This is the sound of confusion. People always switch sides, and the sides always shift people. More importantly, we must ask how much power do the people have in selecting people to represent them. They have the power to voice their opinion, but there are also other people that have the power in finalizing the selection. There are so many players involved, working to protect the people. The irony is, what protects some, also attacks others.

If you don't cooperate with the system, you cannot change it.

And if you let your friends suffer and die with some bland excuse of "I didn't vote, not my problem", well then you will be all alone and all the more easier to bring down.

Either you're too young to know how politics work, not in America, are too old to be bothered.

Point is, you don't fix anything by not voting. In fact, you kill yourself faster.

So ultimately your argument is based on fear of being alone?

I'm not too young to know how politics work. I know enough about politics to know it's all bull, and don't shy away from that fact. I'm not in America, but, I bet I know more about the American voting system than the average joe. I'm definitely not too old because I'm in my 20s.

That video is as patronising as the people it supposedly excoriates. A series of over-literal visual illustrations of what's being said, like flash cards for a class of rather slow children. Not to mention, why should I pay attention to someone who can't even be bothered to apply punctuation in the language they were born to speak and write? How 'aware' is that?

I know money is an abstract concept, I know that money makers cross national boundaries, but the idea that this negates all political ideas and political campaigning is defeatist, submissive rubbish. It's self-congratulatory nihilism that actually gifts to our supposed oppressors the very thing the video tells us to fight for. As usual in this sort of video, voting is painted as futile, but nothing concrete is suggested in its place, just some vague motivational poster doggerel.
