“FOUND” 8 Year Old Music CD-R In The Woods. Who’s Songs Are These?

A week back, I was walking with my 7 year old daughter down a trail in one of our parks here in Evergreen Colorado. It was a little cold, but over all, it was a beautiful (somewhat warm) sunny day. While we were on our hike, my daughter came across a beat up CD-R disk on the ground. What was strange was the location of the disk. We went about a hundred feet off the trail because my daughter needed to go pee. After we both went into the woods about a hundred feet, my daughter went in an additional 20 feet. She wanted her "privacy". After she finished doing her thing, she called out to me, "dad!, look what I found!

We were about a half mile from the nearest bathroom, and there was no way we could have made it back in time. Not much you can do when nature calls. The trail we were walking on was one that was used very little. It was also a no no to camp or have fires. So there were no camp sites. The park is a good 20 miles from one end to the other.

After a few days, my curiosity got the best of me. I started to wonder what kind of data was on this disk, or if I could even recover any of it. Was it lady gaga? A software program? Some dudes compilation of the best porn of 2011? Barney & Friends? There was nothing written on the disk that indicated what it was. The disk was quite beat up, but I knew I could get some of the data off it to see what it possessed. I went thru every process imaginable to get the data. I eventually used Cd Check, ISO Buster, and DiskInternals CD and DVD Recovery to obtain what I could. All the music on the cd was in Mp3 format, which made the files very small. Out of all the music it must have contained, I was able to salvage only about 20mbs. Looking into the properties of one of the files, the disk was created/modified in 2003. That was nearly 8 years ago.

When the disk was made and modified

In the end, I found it to be a music cd. I was only able to get about 5% of the music that was on it. I went ahead and made some clips of what I salvaged.

I never heard the music before, so I emailed the clips onto some friends. They couldn’t recognize the music or artist as well. I did a Google search with some of the lyrics, but nothing. So here I am. I thought I would throw it up on ATS. Does anyone here recognize them?

The music is not my style, but maybe someone out there is into this kind of stuff. Clip 2 was the only one I thought ok, Lyrics wise..

I created some You Tube videos of the song clips....

Welllllll, all I can say is after the first 3 tracks, I felt like gauging my ears out with a nuclear warhead. Sounds like some dude, wrote a bunch of TERRIBAD songs to a girl, the recording process is cheap, lazy, and screams 'home demo'. I'd say the girl fought back mountains of vomit, tried to destroy the disk by throwing into Mt Doom, but got lost and eaten by buzzards on the way after the terror of putting the cd on her finger.

But, kudos on picking up rubbish!

It sounds to me like it might be someone's self-produced project that may have never been released commercially. What you need is one of those phone apps that can identify almost any song ever released.

It's a home recording. Wow, maybe if you create a big enough mystery you might get a shot of getting your cheesy songs in the media.

If you are being honest about this, CDs are a favorite swipe for crows so it wouldn't surprise me to find one in the woods.

Who knows, you could claim it has a special message from God and start your own church. Might even end up being president some day.

Whoa... I think there was a reason it was thrown out into nowhere....

That was...pretty bad. Sounds like some home-made love songs buy a less than talented high school Romeo.

Ugh.

Maybe someone will see it on Youtube and fess up to the monstrosities.

I would have done the same think with it, curiosity is hard to fight!

Clip 4 has promise. Sounds like a good intro to a heavy metal song but keeps you waiting for the actual jamming to occur.

After a quick listen to the lyrics and a quick search online, I cannot find anything on it.
I imagine that the songs are someone's own work, its certainly never been commercially produced that is for sure.
The voice is the same voice throughout, there is no evidence online of it.
someones own work.

SOMEONE REMIX THAT TRACK, until then, I'm thinking Teen Bigfoot lives in a mountain cave and is all angsty over his hair problem (can't do anything with it, Robin Williams phone always goes to message bank).

Or yeah, he's in a tree nearby!

Sounds like it should have been thrown further than a couple hundred feet off a mountain trail. It's mean but I suffered through only 2 tracks before wanting an EMP strike to happen so NO ONE else would have to endure what I did.

I wonder if they use this disk at Guantanamo Bay?

Cool find! Sounds like a homebrew but you never know could be some famous singers first attempts.

Either way I think it was a cool find and booo on all the people being such jerks...It wasn't the best but far from the worst singing.

I find stuff like that as a sign of sorts. I would probably superstitiously try to find personal meaning in it...lol

You put a lot of effort into bringing the CD recordings back to life. You are to be commended on your effort and your thoughtfulness.

I only listened to the first track and as soon as the lyrics started my first thoughts were - crushed absolutely broken heart - suicide - buried near where your daughter found the disc. Buried in that eight years of erosion and natural habitat growing etcetera can hide a decomposing body. I hope I am wrong - I would like to think the crow swiping it was the answer.

I thought it sounded familiar but I just could not place it - might be original. It is definitely a home recording as it is not polished enough to sound like a professional studio. This is possibly why it is difficult to identify could be an original or a cover that was changed a bit for personal interpretation.

Someone who loved music and loved singing and was inspired enough to make his own recording. He was a bit flat in parts but I feel deeply that they were emotionally crushed and that CD was an expression about a really demoralising experience.

Would love to be more positive especially as you persevered and presented what you salvaged so well. I certainly will not be adding to the nasty comments - empathy goes along way to remaining a healthy human.

Much Peace...
