Wake up people!!

See, I think the GOP is the one using the core of the strategy.

Think this, create and enact government policies from the inside that make the government
look even more inept. This action will create the results that benefit conservative talking points
and beliefs. The worse you mismanage the government, the easier it is to suggest dismantling
it.

The Piven strategy on behalf of liberals makes little sense in America, why would liberals,
who want the government to stay in place, want the government to look bad?

That does not make sense, but it does make sense for conservatives. The best secret is
the one you accuse others of... THE ART OF WAR

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – President Obama finished a three-day, five-stop campaign for his 2012 agenda Friday by promising a University of Michigan audience he will work with Congress, states and universities to keep college costs down.

Obama says college costs must be held in check

The key word?

Promises......

Thats ALL this man is good for.....Saying the word.

Its sad that the masses believe EVERYTHING he has to say.
Its even sadder that EVERYONE voting for him, doesn't hold him to those "promises".

And people want another 4 years of this garbage? meh.........

Excellent point sir, someone making some sense of the situation. It has to be obvious by now everything is being done to break the monetary back of the nation. It's so rampant and both sides seem to prefer this. Both are for endless wars and continuous "stimulus" packages. Sickening

Did the economy suddenly fix itself when Obama came into office?

What you are looking at is the residual rise in welfare/food stamps due to the recession - which really bordered on depression - of 2008. It will take years before those numbers go back down. Let's not forget the obstructionist congress which has blocked every recovery effort, ensuring this recession lasts. Remember the GOP's motto, "Damn the country, Obama must fail".

I can ensure you the solution to the economy is NOT going to come from the establishment GOP, and only a FOOL of the highest order would ever consider putting them back into office. The GOP at this point has only one saving grace and that is Ron Paul, and they treat him like dirt.

This post just goes to show that if you stay on ATS long enough, you'll find the occasional accurate post.

To add to these thoughts, Baby Boomers are entering retirement, which will certainly make the SS numbers grow. No amount of improving the economy will change that. Perhaps if Congress were more interested in working together than pandering to the symbolism of extreme partisan "my way or no way" crap, we would be on a better path already. Regardless, some of those numbers will not come down for years and may never be where they once were, regardless of the economy.

Did you even read your own quote? Yeah, he promised to work with Congress. He didn't say he promised anything would come of it. Why would he? There is no chance that the GOP will work with him on college tuition costs. They don't care to do anything that would make him look good. The party of NO.

Personally, if a President or Presidential candidate promises to try, that's a good sign to me regardless of political status. It's almost always Congress that keeps progress and change from occurring, regardless of who is President.

all you "let's get rid of entitlements" folks

what's your hurry?
you do know that the sudden elimination of SS and other programs is going to:

1- cause megadeaths especially among the elderly and children
[then again you're already doing that in many other countries through warfare]

2- will cause the crime rate to soar like never before in history
i mean half the country is on food stamps now isn't it

if you had to choose between "doing the right thing" and as result letting your kids starve
or criminality, what would your choice be?

"why did you kill officer jackboot?"
"officer jackboot, threatened my child's security and continued survival"

wonder how a jury would view such an argument?

see how this will work out?

still think it's worth a civil war on the streets, because you think it's going to get you more investment money, or lower your taxes?

and if you believe the latter: i have a great deal for you on a bridge in Brooklyn

Yep

And the Earth will suddenly implode and so on.
No matter how you do the math, the programs are not sustainable.
Good intentions and warm fuzzy feelings don't make it different.

And Obama wont?

You believe that if he needed a bump in his ratings before the elections,he wouldn't do it?

Ask him why there are troops on the ground in Kuwait........

Ask him why we have our fleet in the Straits of Hormuz.......

And there are those who claim Republican as Neo-Cons............

This man is a shyster, from the word go.

Wheres the "New Deal"? Wheres Obama's plan for Jobs?

Dolling out money to company's that go bankrupt in a year?

American familys needed the bailouts. He bailed out the banks. The American Government Owns businesses now.....

Hes a joke.

I sure as hell read it.

He uses double talk. Promises is the key word. He knows it wont work, but he sells it,like hes trying.

Its like the old snake oil. Drink it and it might cure you.I promise that much.

Hes constantly pointing the finger, and having three pointing back at himself.

Look at the whole strategy... if you think progressives intentionally try to make
government look bad, you have got to be daffy. Having government programs
in place is not a guarantee and the worse those things appear and perform,
the more likely it is that those things will be eliminated. So, it makes zero
sense that American liberals would want the programs they believe in to
be threatened by general mismanagement or crisis.

Now, conservatives can mismanage those things all they want because
it will better their argument and the policies they propose, which is to
eliminate all those programs. Therefore mismanaging the government
in anyway will benefit the privatization model, which, if notice is typically
the "solution" waiting there to replace big government. But all those solutions
cannot be suggested if the government is performing reasonably well.

You think about it long and hard, it is exactly the model laid out in The Art Of War

On Obama and his promises.

A few years ago, I worked at a crisis hotline center. Took phone calls, refered people to specific agencies, talked to abused, suicide potential, drug abuser folks.

The libs sound like an abused wife.

"He promised he wouldn't do it again"
"He said it'd be different this time".
"He says he'll be better."

Folks, just take my hand, we'll talk about it, and maybe sit down with some folks that can help you.
It can get better. But only if you recognise there is a problem.
