Conversion disorder is better known as "hysteria" and in this case I think we can call it
"mass hysteria."
The spread of this disorder is frightening. The fact that no cause, as of yet, can be found makes this even more frightening. I lived in Buffalo, NY
for 10 years, so this hits pretty close to home.
So Erin Brockovich is sending a team to investigate the area and the environment. But so far authorities don't seem to think there is any connection
to the environment with these cases. I am curious though, have any other cases of mass hysteria popped up like this recently or in the past? If so was
a cause ever determined? I have only heard of such events in movies and books.
I wish I had more to say about this, but I am as puzzled as most of those people are.
