Three new cases in LeRoy, including boy

www.wivb.com

The New York State Department of Health has confirmed with News 4 that at least three new suspected cases of Conversion Disorder have been reported in LeRoy. These patients are showing the same symptoms presented by 12 others, who are already confirmed to have the disorder.

The State Department of Health reports each of the three new cases are being evaluated by private doctors, who will then share their findings with the state. As we've reported, two girls in the Albany say they too have symptoms of Conversion Disorder - twitching, convulsions and joint pain - similar to what the LeRoy patients are facing.

Conversion disorder is better known as "hysteria" and in this case I think we can call it "mass hysteria."

The spread of this disorder is frightening. The fact that no cause, as of yet, can be found makes this even more frightening. I lived in Buffalo, NY for 10 years, so this hits pretty close to home.

So Erin Brockovich is sending a team to investigate the area and the environment. But so far authorities don't seem to think there is any connection to the environment with these cases. I am curious though, have any other cases of mass hysteria popped up like this recently or in the past? If so was a cause ever determined? I have only heard of such events in movies and books.

I wish I had more to say about this, but I am as puzzled as most of those people are.

This, what's going on in leRoy, is quite an enigma. I can't wait untill the story unfolds. Now a boy comes down with the condition, I think we can X out gardesil[spelling?] on the eraser board now. Unless....

My heart does bleed for the parents and the children, this must be horrible for them, a real life nightmare.

Actually no.

Guardasil has been recommended for and given to boys as well.

I wasn't aware of that! Thank you for the lesson

Until we know what the link is between these children, this will be only speculation. I do NOT buy the "conversion disorder" baloney. Doctors and scientists are always so quick to assume that something is psychological in nature because they cannot discern a physical cause. Blame it on the victim.

Have they all gotten the gardisil shot? Boys have been pushed to get it now as well, so Merck can expand it's customer base.

For all we know, it is another biological experiment, which may have been done at a school. Impossible you say?

According to the Scotts’ report, this pathogen was tested during the summer of 1984 at Tahoe-Truckee High School in California via the air duct system. Individual rooms were fitted with an independent recycling air supply system and the teacher’s lounge was designated as the infection target. Within months, seven of eight teachers assigned to this room became very ill. Tahoe-Truckee High School was only one of several locations where the specially designed pathogens were tested. Some pathogens were distributed by aerosol sprays and others were spread through contaminated mosquitoes. The Scotts reported that, during the 1980s, one hundred million mosquitoes a month were bred at the Dominion Parasite Laboratory in Belleville, Ontario. From there, the mosquitoes were tested by both Canadian and U.S. military authorities after being infected with brucellosis. Some observers believe the 1999 outbreak of human encephalitis in New York City due to what was designated West Nile virus may have been the result of these infected mosquitoes.

Finally, I think we are all familiar with the 1969 closed-door Defense Appropriation Hearings in the U.S. Senate. Dr. MacArthur stood up at that time and said "We can take 24 years of biological warfare research, use our 76 biowarfare labs in operation, add ten million dollars on top of the 31 million dollars going into this nefarious warfare research this year, and come up with the ultimate stealth weapon, a synthetic bioagent for which no natural immunity could have been acquired." And in fact, Appropriation 1509 did develop these incapacitating agents: air delivered aerosols meant to infect people by breathing them. They were intended not to be contagious and were tested on students at the Tahoe-Truckee High School in California. Seven out of eight of those victims developed chronic fatigue.

I find it odd that common exposures, aside from environmental ones, are absent from the conversations. I haven't heard one mention of common foods, common personal products like toothpaste, or common medical procedures/conditions, such as strep throat or vaccines.

That, in and of itself, is very suspect to me. Why on earth isn't one reporter asking about something other than the air quality?

Because of network censors? Me thinks some industry would have to cue up to lose hundreds of millions were the truth to ever see the light of day. Mass hysteria this is not.

I read somewhere, and I do not have a link at the moment (maybe it was in the original link I posted?) where some individuals talk about a train derailment in the area in the 1970's I believe where a massive amount of chemicals spilled and entered the water supply. I could be incredibly wrong. I also don't believe this is a case of mass hysteria, but if doctors can't find anything wrong with these people then what could it be? I have been following this story since it broke and will continue to do so. Unfortunately I have to go to work in a few minutes so I am unable to provide anymore links, but will be delighted to do so later. If anyone else has some information I would love to see it.

Hits close to home here too. About 45 min away as the crow flys, or about an hour and 15 min drive depending on traffic from me. We also have to remember that this area of NYS is very and I mean very loaded with all sorts of nasty chemicals. Eastman Kodak located in downtown Rochester is just a hop skip and jump away (food for thought). With everything I have learned about this area of the state and through family research I am going to lean heavily on environmental influence, and not natural either but man made pollution as the cause. I guess time will tell as long as people are honest about the findings.

I'm not certain that nobody knows. Someone knows - it would just cost too much to tell anyone.

I'd like to know what blood panels and scans have been done with these kids. Something must be irregular. Nothing about this makes sense. But maybe we'll get lucky and one of Obama's daughters will contract it - then we will ALL find out exactly what did this.

It's funny, but back in the day, "conversion disorder" was considered a discriminatory diagnosis as it was reserved for women with an issue that was "all in her head". The hallmark of a dismissive male physician, if you will.

They need to look at the past, not the present.

What vaccines did these kids have as infants/toddlers/pre-teens?

Did they all attend the same pediatricians?

Were they all born in the same hospital?

What month were they born? Any commonalities there?

What toys did they play with?

DId they eat at the same places dating back to their child hood?

Did they swim in same swimming pool at any time in their lives?

It is astounding that the news is stuck on TODAY and not yesterday.

Now that there is confirmed case of a boy with this disorder, I think I have come up with my own conclusion, and you folks can take it for what its worth. Seeing that Le Roy Central School District is quite small, with only 1,320 enrolled students PK-12th grade and two schools, I would imagine that there isn't much to do for fun for those kids. My guess is that these now 15 kids were habitual Spice users, which is a legal synthetic cannabis that can be purchased in gas stations, and has been proven to cause users to develop psychosis like symptoms during withdrawals.

Clearly this is a psychological issue, not a physical one.

This generally happens in underdeveloped countries, that's worth point out

Good theory...in fact a very good one. Except I have lived in Buffalo for 10 years, and so far as I know the stuff is illegal to sell in NY. Could possibly bath salts, but wouldn't this have shown up in a toxicology report in both cases?

EDIT: ADD: Correction: It is to banned if it hasn't passed already: www.k2info.org... My point is, I have never seen the stuff sold in any gas station near Buffalo. Now i have seen Salvia sold at smoke shops before.

I live 60 miles north of NYC in Sullivan Co and you can find the stuff at every other gas station up and down the road. The kids could've purchased it online.

There was a little more info about it on HLN tonight... seems there are 3 gas wells on the school ground, and fracking was mentioned as something that is being looked at.
